  1. I've been a huge fan of the blue 2531.80 since it became popular as the James Bond watch. I got the pictured above probably when it was out. It was replaced by the SMP chrono.
  2. Likewise thanks for your pics. I am a huge fan of the blue, but it was not out when I got the 007. I have missed out on many good reps for waiting, so I told myself I wouldn't let it happen this time. My preference would've been for the blue vs 007 but the caseback is pretty cool. Here's a gone 2531.80 rep. This was the best I could get, but I understand there was a much better one from a "closed factory" with a 2892. Notice the seconds hand has a shorter counterweight length and the pearl.
  3. Josua has QC pics http://imageshack.us/g/1/10246648/ Regarding the engraved bezel vs. not engraved... It is my impression that the gen looks engraved, 100%. It seems like the engraving is filled by a translucent material and is then polished/finished smooth. So while it looks engraved, it is smooth to the touch... fingernail will not get caught in the grooves, because there are no grooves--they're filled-in. That said, the watch looks great (I have the 007), runs great (I opted for the Asia 2892 version), great bracelet and case. My only criticisms: back waves look like shiny ridges instead of sandy waves crown may be a pinch taller and/or not be recessed enough (sticks out a little) the caseback is a little thicker than the gen, possibly to fit the 4.6mm 2824 in there vs the 2500 which is based on the 3.6mm 2892A2 (the bullet on my 007 version is recessed). mine only has AR coating on the inside, as far as I can tell (I have a constellation that is quite magnificent as a rep, with the Stellita movement) . I may purchase the blue one next. I may also wait for the N factory so that I can have one of each (N will probably do a better job at the back). I may get both and combine the best features of both. I was told that the blue dial/bezel color was derived from the gen blue Planet Ocean used for their 1:1. This may imply they did not have a non 007 50 years, hence the caseback is done by the seat of the pants.
  4. I have the 007. I would LOVE the blue. For now I will wait until the Noob makes it, and get their blue. That way I'll have the 007BP and the blueN to compare and wear simultaneously around the house lol. If you go for the blue, post pics!
  5. Movement W blue chrono The family:
  6. I have owned a couple of SMPs, the 2531.80 and the 300M chrono, and this bracelet--is the best by far. The links look 1:1 with the gen vs the others which have a slimmer middle connector links. I was going to purchase the blue version too, but I may wait for the Noob version. Only thing I am not certain of, is the AR coating. I have seen some blue tint on some of the online pics, but in person mine is lacking.
  7. Why not just message e-bay with the reasons we believe it's not genuine? We're the experts (well I haven't had a PO rep so Idk)
  8. I think there may be a communication barrier. It is my impression they are busy taking orders and what not, and "printed vs. engraved" may not mean much if English is not your first language. I only realized the gen was not engraved when I visited my AD. I have the 007 50 years model, that actually led to the non-limited version. I think they did a great job with the 007 version, and it's possible they may have had one to compare with. The bezel indeed is engraved, and well that's too bad. To their credit, from looking at pictures of the watch it is near impossible to see the difference between the real and gen bezels... unless you know what you're looking for. The bracelet on these is probably one of the best ones I've seen-- blows the SMP chrono bracelet out of the water in 1:1 dimensions and finish. They did a good job with the hands, dial, print--the pearl seems to be bad on the photographs on the website, but I think the prototypes are what they use to photograph this one. The QC pics are more accurate and the pearl is done very well executed, with a little sapphire window, very flush and well put together. It is not 100% with gen, but it is very good and good quality. Overall I think it is a very good quality watch. I purchased the 2892 version (asian) and the movement runs very precise and is decorated! I mean that they are actually buying good quality movements and components with the potential to deliver a super value, whether it is a clone or not.
  9. I would like to add that the bracelet is very good... much better than any previous version I have seen.
  10. I have the 007 50 years version. I purchased mine from Trusty. I purchased the Asia 2892 edition instead of the Swiss 2824. The 2892 is 1 mm thinner and the "bullet back" is 1mm further away from the window. The bullet was not centered, and I opened the watch to correct this issue. I found that the 2892 movement has a very nice finish. It keeps great time. I purchased it under a month ago, and I no longer see the 2892 as an option from Trusty--only the Swiss 2824 now (which would make the bullet-back closer to the exhibition window in the back. It seems Joshua has it still. There is a small concern that perhaps the rehaut is too deep, as the thickness of the watch may be a bit greater than the gen. However I am not 100% sure on this. It seems many reps can take the 2824 so the extra mm is there for it (unrelated to rehaut). PS I hope the IWC Ingenieur only allows the 2892 and is thus, a thin case like the gen. I tried it on last night--it is nice that it seems very flat.
  11. This is a beautiful watch. It's opportune to make it the Laureus for Sport model, as it does not have an exhibition back. The non-laureus gen looks gorgeous in black but has an exhibition back revealing a great thick beautifully finished movement . a 2824 would be unsightly. I want one, but may have to thin out the collection.... any takers? haha I wish this one came with a bracelet. Has anyone tried the deployment buckle yet? It should be like the gen, 18mm at the buckle end.
  12. 2 total for me, one installed on TC sub and the other spare for a ceramic sub
  13. I like that. The plan is to get the gen at savings. Makes sense. Usually with almost everything else, if you buy the unit in parts, you pay a premium.

    wow! droooool......
  15. Wow beautiful watch, and what an awesome strap! Is the strap gen breitling or sourced separately? There used to be a watchbandsbyfox seller that had fantastic gen croco bands for great prices. I can't find them anymore.
  16. I used to own a TW version of this, in blue. I particularly like how it doesn't have an exhibition back to reveal the wrong movement--an ETA vs the super fine gen movement. Great taste in watches!
  17. it's a great short film. I remember watching it a long time ago.
  18. I think Silix may still have a black one left, but not sure.
  19. The bracelet isn't so bad after all. I just polished the clasp and lubricated the links and massaged them and it almost just falls like a cascade of metal links. As far as the strap I most definitely will, but probably later in the year when it cools down again. For now, I really like the look of the bracelet too. Thanks for the eye-candy! I drool when I see, or should I say don't see your crystal, wimpie007--nice AR. I am in CONUS and I wonder if anyone does a good job here at a decent price without having to wait for "runs?" Also as far as this and the other slide rule Breitlings--how do they water proof them? It seems like a huge vulnerable spot. 50m dash in the rain?
  20. Yup, you would need a 7751 plus new hands. These hands are excellent but probably would not fit the ETA. My Speedmaster Day-Date is 28,800 and has a similar function as the 7751 but looks physically different. I had to take pictures of it in order to reassemble it. REP: GEN: REP: Tell you what, I really admire the creativeness in these movement designers. Btw I am not sure if this slow beat 21,600 looks the same way. The pics are from the Omega 28,800vph
  21. I got this one from PureTime. I had been asking many dealers to find one and after placing the order Mary found one with a strap but I wanted bracelet version. Silix found a black one at a very attractive price but I wanted white. Others just said it wasn't available anymore. So hopefully if anyone is looking they can get lucky and find it.
  22. The straight out of the box a7750 is quite reliable. I haven't had as good luck with the Daytona iterations due to the obvious drag issues. But the a7750 is perhaps more robust than the 2824 clone and other Asian movements. The way I see it it's a matter of design. These things are robust and that's why I think it's used on rugged watches like panerai non chrono. Why would they put a native chronograph movement without the chronograph module? Because it has torque and reliability. Quite remarkable IMO. A pain in the ass to assemble and disassemble but not that bad if you're careful.
  23. So it seems this model is apparently no longer produced. I am a big fan of the triple calendar watches as well as pilot watches (this is my first one). It has the 21,600 vph version of the A-7750 with moon phase mechanism (A-7751). I can say the movement is very clean (I took a peek) Impeccable. Does anyone know if it ever had the 28,800 vph movement? There are a couple of dial variants of this model. One is more white and one is more gray. I think I got lucky because this one is very similar to the gen. I think Breitling calls it "mercury silver." (Hmmm reminds me of those toxic tooth fillings). It is a very white silver when viewed from the top, but more gray when viewed from the side. Cool effect! The dial markings are very well done, the hands are great too. The slide rule makes me worry about the water resistance--Are they splash proof? how do these reps seal the sliderule vs the gen? The bracelet is a bit sticky, and oh boy--was a handful to size! The clasp is stamped and the metal isn't as thick as I would hope, but it's nice and shiny. Any tips on modding or perfecting the bracelet feel? Are there many qualities available? Mine doesn't have any markings on the bracelet links (only the clasp). The look of the bracelet is good, but the feel just doesn't exude the OMG quality. How nice are the straps? Here it is with the Omega blood sibling (although this Speedmaster is the 28,800 vph version) which in my opinion is one of the best reps I've ever held. Thanks for browsing!
  24. I've held off on posting some of these pictures since acquiring the watch in 2008 sometime. It is a 28,800 vph movement. it is probably my fav rep. I am not sure if it was the N factory or who, but they did a fantastic job. There were at least two versions made; the other was 21,600 vph. Having owned a couple gens, I can say this is one of the best reps I've ever seen. Unbelievable. Too bad it is no longer produced. (why...why?!!!) This one initially had a problem with the chronograph mechanism. I sent it back for repairs to no avail (came back with a couple of new dings  ), and so it was in a drawer for a long time. Until I decided to take it apart. I ended up replacing two parts and voilá! and a couple gens I've owned: The real deal: an 1151 with added moonphase mechanism and disc... what?! And here it is next to its new cousin! (21,600 vph) Thanks for browsing!
