Very nice! I used to have a few vintage Seiko chronos. Very well made and bulletproof!

Hi guys can anyone here tell me if this caseback is Gen? The engraving inside looks sloppy but maybe that is how they were made in the 1960s? I have seen some very crisp engravings on some gen casebacks as well as soon not so crisp. This just seems a bit too wonky?

Bought an Omega 565 movement.. Now what?
Big Dazza replied to Big Dazza's topic in General Discussion
Hi thanks, yes but at the moment the prices have went up for a complete Watchco Omega 300. They are not around £2000! Not worth that to be honest when I reckon it would be cheaper to slowly build up the parts and get it assembled. -

I believe even the new updated vintage 300 model from the cartel uses a larger dial and I would like to use a gen dial -

I think the hardest thing to find is a complete case set. The movement runs only thing is the minute hand spins round when the watch is shaken (even after I made sure the hand is on tight) and the pull out date quick set doesnt work. Im thinking even if I go Nos caseset from cousins, black datewheel, nos dial and hands, new stem and movement overhaul I should be within the £1200 budget (maybe optimistic)? -
Well I had the opportunity to buy an old Omega Seamaster watch with a 565 auto movement inside (needs servicing). The watch itself is knackered needing a new crystal, new crown and maybe stem, bracelet is shot and gold plating very worn. Should I try restoring the original Omega Seamaster or should I use the movement, buy a Omega 300 watchco type case (circa £900) and source a nos dial and hands etc to build a Seamaster vintage 300? I estimate a build for a Seamaster 300 to be around £1200.

I think some of the fantasy models us modders come up with would look nicer than that

Thanks for taking the time to post the photos! Looks great! Maybe even a cheap quartz one would be a good daily beater?- 7 replies

Hmmmm I only like some of it. Case seems too big for the crown, no lug holes and no acrylic pearl

Hey guys ordered a few watches from Silix the other day and noticed their communication / English was more broken than usual. I.e. I asked something about the order and they replied with something unrelated. After paying I havent heard a word from them in a few days. Just wanted to know if anyone else is experiencing the same? Should I be worried?

Very nice buddy!

Im pretty sure its an overlay mate

Its a great looking watch in person. Dial is a lovely off white and the markers work really well with the dial colour. Only thing that I worry about is that 3113 Co-Axial movement. Anyone got any words good or bad about the Omega 3113 movement?
-
Thanks for the info guys. Think I might try the quartz version for a while first. I have seen quite a few people on forums arguing about how bad the Omega 3113 co-axial movement can be. If not I would of went for another Omega Speedmaster Broad Arrow, white dial and blue markers. I had one of these before and regret selling it but after reading about potential movement issues I have been put off getting another.

yum..... hard decision.. wont be getting anything yet but I've wanted another gen for a while now

Thanks for the replies. Only thing that puts me off a gen vintage Rolex is there are too many frankens etc out there and I would need to be 100% sure in what I am buying. I also reckon the Transocean is one of the best looking watches I've seen for a while. I know a great AD in Hong Kong that tells me he will give me about 35% off I bought my last Breitling from him. Thanks AJ. I might pop down to my local dealer and try it on again. I tried it on at Heathrow airport and fell in love with it, even got chatting to the dealer who was wearing his 20 year old Daytona El Primero, was surprised how nice he was to chat to.

Hey guys been having a bit of an itch to buy a nice gen and have my eye on a Breitling Transocean Chrono Panda (white dial with black sub-dials). Its quite pricey. The best price I can get is about £5k (a hell of a lot of coin). The thing that attracts me to it is the B01 movement which is Breitling's first in house movement and many reckon it will hold its value. Its an absolute stunner of a watch. I have read that only some come with a clear caseback because it is a limited edition feature? Although I havent seen any with a sold one yet. Am I silly and should I just get the rep? Just wondering what people think about this and what are the comparable or cheaper gen options others would go for for that sort of money?
-
Like most people here I hated how the standard rep dials look. I remember one of the first vintage rep watches I bought had a horrible orange lume and wanted to learn how to fix it. I started off the hard way, learning and experimenting, even buying numerous dials just to relume. Some may remember some of my earliest work and how it has progressed. To me reluming is very enjoyable, it is like creating a piece of art: Since I've had a few people asking for some photos I thought I would share some of my work Here is one I did last week for a member:
