  1. You're at least half German in my book, Andy...
  2. Herzlich Willkommen! You'll find a lot of German watch maniacs around here... Cheers, Whatever123
  3. No, I don't use it for watching TV, just work and forum browsing... lol Honestly, if you put the big thing on your desk you will think it's just too big. The next day you think it's just perfect and after that it has become normal. You get used to the size really quick!
  4. Yes, it's worth every cent! Just my 2c... I love it!
  5. So now if anyone of you has a 6538 dial lying around... please PM me. Take another look in your sock drawer, please Andy! But don't tell me what you find, unless it has at least remotely to do with watches...
  6. You guys are incredible... Great answers, thanks! Oh, and Andy... Unfortunately the contents of your sock drawer aren't worth a cent... just ship them to me if you want to get rid of them... without the socks that is... ;-))
  7. Hi fellas, I realized, there are two different dial versions for the 6538 - 2 lines and 4 lines (see pics from Yukiwatch). What's the history? Thanks, Whatever123
  8. Thanks, interesting thread! ... Well, yes, I tried to bake a dial in the meantime and yes, I ruined my dial... So... no,... I will not try it again on the good dial. Instead I am thinking of having it re-lumed by someone who knows what he's doing...
  9. Good point... I have one try with an older dial... the next one should be right...
  10. Hey guys, is it just the spring that's different in the transformer bezels? Or do you have to change the whole bezel to make it "click" again? Anyone got a pic of the bezel from the downside? Additionally the transformer bezels accept gen inserts, while the "normal" bezels don't, ist that right? Cheers, W.
  11. I also try to keep my collection around 10 pieces. Usually it's not too hard for me to sell a piece if I'm over that 10-pieces boundary... I wear about 5 pieces regularly in rotation.
  12. Hi there, OK, I read a lot about ageing dials... seems the "baking" method is preferred here... is it? So how do you actually do that? Simply put the dial in the oven? Which temperature do you use and how long do you leave the dial in there? Are there alternative methods? I read about that coffee thing but that doesn't sound too promising to me... I've got one of those yellowish cartel vintage Rolex dials that I'd like to "age". But of course I don't want to destroy it... Thanks, Whatever
  13. Hi guys, what's the value of a gen Navitimer bracelet from 2006 in as new condition? I have an interesting offer for a gen Navitimer. As it comes on a bracelet and I would wear in on leather only, I'd like to know what I can expect from re-selling the bracelet. I looked around on eBay but didn't find any comparable bracelets... Thanks! Whatever123
  14. I read in the german "Uhrenmagazin" that the crystal itself is also AR coated, only not very strong.
  15. Side by side comparison... here we go...: http://www.repgeek.com/showthread.php?p=1349101#post1349101
  16. Woah, that's scary, man! Did you actually eat that? Don't tell me it tastes like chicken...
  17. Got the image upload problem again today and also some very bad response times. I know you're looking into it, just wanted to mention it so you know what's going on.
  18. Hm? I'm also on a Mac and don't have this issue... strange.
  19. I thought they use this tiny movement and the movement ring to get the weight exactly like the gen?! Can't believe it's really heavier...
  20. Yep, had the same problem. Couldn't log on yesterday for a couple of hours. Now everything seems to work fine again, including image upload.
  21. Yep, it worked! I removed the day gear, glued on the overlay from a GMT IIc, dial + hands set (two times, now the date changes at 2 minutes before midnight - good enough for me ;-). But now I've got another problem... the movement + dial combo doesn't fit the case... LOL. That was really a strange EX II I bought there. Now I'd need some kind of distance holder ring so that the dial doesn't connect with the crystal... I think I'm giving up and will sell the parts... Cheers, Whatever
  22. Good tip, guys! Thanks! Didn't know this was the day gear... I'll remove it and try the overlay again. Could work...
  23. OK guys, here's my problem: I bought a Rollie EXII Steve McQueen with a bad dial. Opened a WTB thread for a new dial, found one. The dial feet fit perfectly on my movement (which looks like an ETA, not sure if it's clone-ETA). BUT, the datewindow is a bit too large for the datewheel (which seems to be a standard ETA datewheel). I tried an overlay from a GMT IIc rep - fits perfectly into the date window but I can't use it, because it interferes with the gear-wheel I marked with the red arrow... Sooo... what can I do? Can I do anything at all? I suppose other date wheels or overlays won't work because of the gear in the way. So do I need a new dial? Thanks, Whatever
  24. Hi Pete, got the same problem ... "Upload failed". It was working this morning, now something seems to be out of order... Cheers, Whatever
