Thank God for threads like this. They answer questions that have been mulling round my brain for ages. I suppose I'm not as stupid as I think. @ lhooq - yes, ignorance is truly bliss!

I can confirm PMWF sold out. Tried to buy one the other day, got email back saying sold out

Welcome to the world of reps. You'll probably find most members here a lot more knowledgeable than gen owners, and a lot nicer too!

Cheers for all your help chaps. Just pulled the trigger on a cheapo (dremel bits compatible with flexi shaft included) for £20 (incl postage). Time to turn my 5513 case into a useless scrap of steel and a mound of dust!

Sorry for confusion about casebacks, I had forgotten you were building a GW when I posted the picture, presumed you were doing a DR ('coz they look better

I don't know about Josh's 1665 but I'd try to source an MBW if I were you (preferably an old one). As to the glass there was a very detailed review of t39's a few years ago and money/quality wise the Clarks T39 won the contest. Old gen glass can be suspect and expensive and the Clarks offering is virtually identical for a lot less $$$. Also a replacement gen crown and tube and flat top datewheel are a must IMHO. Good luck with the build.

OK. Thanks for all advices. Basically I can get one that comes with a flexi shaft and variable speed 15,000 to 35,000 rpm (135W motor). Or one without the flexi drive shaft but variable speed goes 10,000 to 35,000 rpm (both circa £20)
Should I go for the flexi even though min speed is 15k or opt for the lower speed 10k without the flexi?

Thank you. Yeah I just looked at a gen expII and movement was just as choppy. No complaints at all! Just got my first compliment. My boss (who owns several gens) couldn't tell it was a rep.
You don't want your boss thinking you've got a gen on your wrist - he'll get ideas that he's paying you too much!

Welcome to the wonderful world of rep ownership. I'm no expert on moderns but that looks like a good start. Hold on to your wallet when the bug bites it bites hard!

20mm brown leather with RWG subtley placed somewhere - I'd be interested!

If that's not a new Yuki 5513 then I'm a monkey's uncle. I'd say it's even the exact same photo as on his website, look at the tiny bit of missing white paint on the 30 minute index. Same same..

When I started buying cartel reps (many moons ago) I always used Andrew and I was never shafted. You're in good hands. Can't comment on the watch though, I'm into vintage pieces myself. All the best anyway.

Anybody able to recommend a rep friendly repairer in or around the south west London area (UK). I've got a couple of reps with niggly problems and have only got a top end Bond St contact who won't dirty his hands with my reps. Ugh. Any help appreciated.

Cheers HH, am setting to work on the MBW 5513 I got from you - still love the watch and its running great.
