  1. A noobmariner is a submariner rep from a certain factory which when it came out had many improved features (accurate crown guards spring to mind) and the name was coined - I believe to satisfy the age old question asked by noobs (new members) 'who sells the best sub rep?'

I believe the name was invented by fellow and esteemed member 'Pugwash'

  2. M, the wait must be killing you I'm feeling it and it's not my watch! (Wish it was). Anyway here's a story that I was told to keep you amused whilst you wait for your beloved to arrive.

Back in the days of the British Empire a large diamond was found in South Africa - I'm not sure which diamond it was but it was very big maybe the Kohinoor or something. The diamond was to be taken to England for setting (I think in the crown jewels) so it had to be insured for the journey. I don't know which insurance company took it on but they made one stipulation - that the diamond be packaged in a normal cardboard box and sent to England anonymously in the standard Royal Mail no registering - nothing! This was seen to be the safest way to send such a valuable item as it was completely anonymous and the chances of it being lost were in reality millions to one.

Like I say I was told this story so it may well be complete BS but I like it anyway.

Well that's taken one minute of your time, hope it helped :D

  3. I have taken the needlenose pliers to the bracelet and they did indeed come out. Were held fast with general dirt and corrosion. I have replaced the bars and all is well. Watch now going for further work. Pictures upon its return.

    Cheers.

  4. Hi All,

I have a small problem which is turning out to be a big problem!

I am trying to liberate a set of endlinks from a rep 19mm Daytona bracelet. The springbars are stuck in the endlinks and I am afraid to use force for fear of breaking something. I need the endlinks for use with a gen bracelet to go on my EE6263 but they seem permanently attached to the rep bracelet? What can I do? Does anybody have any spare endlinks that would fit a 19mm folded link bracelet and be correct for the EE6263 head?

All the best for the New Year to you all :D ,

    Dieselpower.

  5. Hello to all. I have recently received my EE6263 back from modding and would like to share some quick pics with you before it goes to a watchsmith for a full service. The piece has had replacement pushers, gen T21 glass, DW dial, hands and caseback (V72) rotor removal (A7750 mvmnt) gen tube and crown, the rep bracelet also sports a gen clasp. Hope you like it. I certainly do!

Many thanks has to go to all the members who have helped with parts/advice and of course to the man who built it - many thanks for your work and patience with what turned out to be a tricky build.

  6. I am pleased that your hunting is over and I look forward to seeing the assembled piece. As I have said before, I think you will get much more pleasure from having put the effort into researching and sourcing the parts etc etc than merely going to a dealer and buying a gen piece. Enjoy wear it well and embark on your next project.

  7. I couldn't agree more with all the above but would like to add one thing. My info is old so may no longer be the case but if you buy a pre-owned COSC Rolex with no papers you used to be able to get a re-issue of papers from Rolex (provided the watch is all correct). I have never done this but I used to work with an eminent watch dealer and author who told me this is possible. Like I say this was about 10 years ago so maybe it has changed now but I thought you might like to know.

    Good luck.

  8. Great looking watch well done.

You say you printed a new datewheel (flat top 3). Is this a wheel that sticks on over the existing wheel or a whole new replacement wheel in one piece?

I ask because the stick on ones have a few glitches (in my experience) and if you were able to produce a one piece replacement wheel I think alot of members would be interested in buying some - if that were at all possible.
