  1. FWIW I have a rep rivetted bracelet on my MBW 1665 DRSD. I had to resize it by taking out a couple of links (using the screws) this was no problem at all and I have been enjoying the watch with said bracelet for over a year now.

Having said that I had another rivetted bracelet that was a real pain in the a**e and I also threw it away just like Freddy333. I can only conclude that it is a lottery. Some good, some bad.

Hope this helps - but I know it doesn't really ;)

  2. I have no idea about prices, either new or second hand but I think it is pertinent to remember that some of the most collectable pieces were not popular when they were first issued. Look at the Daytona for example, it was unpopular because of the manual winding movement and now look how much they are worth. So, from a purely financial point of view I believe that rarity is the key. I don't know how many of these green milgauses exist but if they are rare then in years to come they will surely have their day.

All the best with the decision.

  3. I have still not got my watch back from Michael Allen but I did notice that when I wound it manually it only took about 17 winds and then it was fully wound ie the crown would not turn any further. I have no idea why this should be especially as freddy333 points out that the movement 'slips' the spring when fully wound.

  4. @ Freddy333 the moisture got in swimming in Sardinia. I have opened the back and the damage does not seem too much (I am far from an expert) but the watch was cheap and I don't think it is worth paying to have it repaired. My 1665 is now my daily beater and is tested to 5 atmospheres and as I don't dive I am happy with it as it is. One day a gen movement and consequently a new dial will make it complete (much the same as your beauty).

@ One4adventure I'm keeping it for sentimental reasons and I might use the dial on another watch.

  5. I sent my Asian 7750 powered 6263 Daytona to Michael Allen for this work to be done. The rotor was already removed but he took out the auto wind mechanism to give the watch a more authentic feel during manual winding. When I received the watch it did not function properly and he has taken it back without question to sort it out. It remains to be seen weather the operation is successful. I'll keep you all posted.

  6. Stupid question about the crown.. Is a 7mm triplock crown the way to go? Weren't these originally supplied with a diplock (?) crown?

Plus I'm ordering pushers from cousins uk, which seem to be the same as the ones on ofrei.. They have Tropic 21 glasses for 3.95. Will these be OEM, and the only difference to the Rolex glass is the Rolex branded baggie? Or should I be blowing the budget and spending that huge amount extra on a Rolex branded T21?

no idea about the 7750 question

The cousins pushers are virtually identical to the Ofrei ones but - they are not an exact match. I have used both and have no complaints about either but there is, visually a very slight difference. Not enough to worry me. Sorry I can't post pics but I haven't got a macro camera. Hope this helps.
