@ Donerix, thanks for showing me this, oh gawd now I do have a problem. I was convinced that I would go with the later non-chapter dial but your watch looks fantastic! Is that dial as it comes (out of the box) from IG44 or has it had work ie re-lume? Also whose rivetted bracelet is that, gen? Yuki? Phong?

You'd have thought it would be quite simple wouldn't you. All I want is a good rivetted 20mm (non-expanding) 7206 with 80 endlinks, that accepts 2mm springbars. It would appear from my research that this is impossible. Unless of course you know different....

I have got a new version MBW 5513 with basic mods already performed by HH. Am looking to improve the watch. The dial is standard MBW and I am considering spending $125 (ish) on an Ingod44 2line feet first dial. So, what do you guys think. Is it worth the investment? Would I be better spending the money elsewhere? All opinions gratefully received.

The symbol on the rotor is the Calatrava Cross. Most of these movements probably end up inside an MBK Patek Philippe Nautilus.

Congratulations on the Explorer! There seems to be a lot of 1016s in the Rolex subforum these days, and that makes me happy.

I saw the similarity between the symbol on the movement and the Patek Calatrava Cross but did not mention it as, if you compare it to Patek's logo, it is such a p*ss poor copy!

I just bought two replacement screws for links on a gen 7835 bracelet from WSO. They don't work. The screw threads on the links are way too small for the threaded holes in the gen links. To be fair I have not yet contacted them about this so they do have the chance to rectify the situation. Will keep you posted. I've also been less than impressed with some other WSO stuff. I'll be avoiding them in the future.

Enough already! Not content with making me sick with his movements, then his lovely daughter, then a daytona to die for he then goes and wheels out a bunch of Pateks. This man is evil and twisted.............

I say I can't wear it but I need to a. find a new spring bar and b. work out how I'm going to fit it, as I recall they are bent back on themselves and I have no tools to speak of. Any advice anyone?

Don't ask me if these things will fit but as good a dial as your budget will allow. A better insert and pearl and a flat top 3 date wheel on a slow beat eta movement will transform the watch. Also have a good look at crown guards. They may need work. Am looking on my phone so can't really tell.

Great stuff. I have a liking for the 1016 and I have an old cartel version with eta 2836 inside. One spring bar has snapped so I can't wear it any more but I have a question. Is it a good platform for modding into a decent rep? I got it from Joshua about 5 years ago.

There is an overlap here with the classic car world. Rep car parts have been available for years, highly reputable replicas exist (Pur Sang Bugattis for example) and have become well respected in their own right. As always cars with proven provenance always command the highest prices but most people have also come to accept that if a certain part is no longer available and a rep part is your only choice then far better to keep the old car running than to leave it to rot. I mean after all its only a piece of steel or rubber or whatever. I personally have no particular hankering for gen pieces. I like the hunting down of parts. I like 'designing' the build in my head and all that stuff and when you get your piece back from the skilled people here who can work their magic I love showing it off to the world and telling them that I had the watch made. Also the two fingered salute to Rolex et al is quite satisfying too Long live the rep watch, whatever the percentage of gen parts they may or may not contain.

I'm in the same boat. Only my boat is called "Daytona" I just had a decent set of parts assembled and my watch returned to me. I should be happy as Larry. Am I? No. All I can think of is getting a V72 and a gen dial. Ouch$$$$$!!
