  1. I have to say. Here in the UK we are very poorly represented, in fact we are (as far as I know) not represented at all, pathetic . Such a shame, we have a great watchmaking history as well! Lets not forget Geo. Daniels (RIP), he had quite an eye for motor cars too. Sorry, didn't want to mention cars. Forget I said that. Do I need to don my flak jacket again?

  2. Woa woa woa, hold on there! Firstly I would like to apologise for causing any ill feeling. It was not my intention. I thought by the tone of my topic title that it was pretty obvious to all that I had my tongue firmly in my cheek. My mistake. The Brits are famed for their sense of humour and their ability to laugh at themselves. I can now see that this is indeed a rare characteristic and something to be treasured. As to my opinion of American cars? If you read what I said about the '56 Thunderbird you'll see. I think it's best we close the book on this one. I've certainly learned something.

  3. OK. I've got my flak jacket on. A friend of mine is a classic car fan. He thinks American cars are rubbish. This is what he said when I told him that I was going to start this debate. "The Americans have never, ever had an original idea. They pinched everyone else's, especially the British. And when they're really jealous they ruin better ideas!!!

Let me know should you need any examples."

  4. Jeez. And there I was thinking I was going to have hours of entertainment watching people from various countries slogging it out. Well, there it is then all hail the great Canadians. I suppose that's subject closed. BTW it's not just because of The Zigmeister, it seems that every time I read about a great build or modification, a new name may appear and lo and behold they are Canadian. Is it something they put in the water up there?

  5. Welcome Leecar1980 (fellow Londoner). I'm not aware of a reference sheet for abbreviations you just have to read, read, read and you eventually get the gang of it. BTW can you sort out your font size, I needed my 30X loupe to read your post!
