Great write-up By-Tor of one of my all-time favorite Rolex models.
Thanks to this I now have a White dial on the way from River and an OEM dial to go in it
Maye I'll put this 2893 I have in my parts drawer in it too
Don't have a Wide angle lens BT
My collection is not compact but I am slowly weeding out the non-keepers and modding the ones I can't see ever getting sick of.
This has and always will be a Caveat emptor market. Buyers or users of Modding services need to do their homework.
Who was it who said "Choose you dealer.....then choose your watch"
There is a wealth of knowledge in and around this board. Search for reviews, etc. or ask a fellow supporter that has been here for a while before comitting your dollars to a dealer or modder.
@emuozz It is Sapphire Display Back
@Torresp - Datwheel shot as requested - It is standard 38MM w/o Crown size. There is no MBK rep (or any rep) of a Jumbo Aquanaut to my knowledge
I think the first shot should be in private between buyer and seller. Seems like this shooter went right to the post which is why the reaction you are seeing D4M
I got mine this week and like Euno I got it from AAngus. I don't have anything to add to the review Euno did. I will prpobably have Ziggy service the movement, relume the dial and then get the crystal done in the next Chief Double AR run. I am very happy with what I got. I really like this model and am glad they did it. I am not a fan of the Cousteau series.
Reflecting back on Ziggy's Exit post, this is an issue that keeps coming up again and again. People are claiming to be experienced in doing the modifications, members are placing their trust and money in their hands, and the results are ........well they suck.
We need to be more careful, as a membership, to check references from other members experiences before sending off our hard earned $$$.
My $.02
Just picked up a couple of outstanding MBK Patek's, the Aquanaut and Nautilus to round out my Genta Family. Could the AP Royal Oak be next
These have been expertly reviewed by others including Euno and Ubi so I will just show some Pics.
The Genta Family
The Aquanaut
The Nautilus
Guess which one I'm wearing today?
The Nautilus
3/21/08 OK, a quick update to add the MBK AP Royal Oak to complete the Genta collection.
It's double AR I suspect but not the same as a Chief or Jakob AR coating. The crystal smudges easily which usually indicates a top AR coat.
By perfect I meant that the lume, markers and all other previous issues are not present on mine. I am actually OK with the AR and the datewheel as is but will probably mod them eventually.
I agree that this past year brought in some of the best we have seen in a while.
Honorable "OOB" mentions from my collection are:
3717 Pilot Chrono
SuperOcean Steelfish
3719 Aquatimer "Slevin"
MBW Nautilus (still in transit but already a legend)
DSN PAM 232 with new Dial and hands
