nice, congrats!!!!! I have the same one gotta get the gen tropic 39, its pricey, but worth it, trust me, completely changed the look of the watch.
wear it in good health
i think its possiby that it's a newer gen, refinished to look vintage...would you say that may be the case Randy? cause the pearl seems to match up with that of the modern one.
i've been watching that one on ebay also, and i'm the current high bidder. looks pretty damn gen to me, but i could be wrong.
if it is gen, you're gonna have to fight me for it
amen.
I sat on my rooftop from about 20 blocks away and watched it all go down from the moment the second plane hit. the first hit had woken me up, and my roomate had come running into my room saying that a bomb just went off in the wtc (nobody had any idea what was happening yet) so we rushed up to the roof.
I cannot even begin to describe it, its just not the same thing as the tv, it was much much worse, trust me.
The weeks following, my neighborhood resembled a warzone less lower nyc. the air was thick with smoke and dust, the streets had armed military at every corner doing checks, the whole thing was just unreal.
I will never forget.....never forget those who lost their lives......never forget that life is short and beautiful.
god bless all of you.
i agree with all of my counterparts here, a dremel is not the best tool for precision case modding. it was what i had, and i was bored, so i thought i would rework this case.
the dremel is just not sturdy enough, slips very easy, and ends up doing some irreverseable damage to your case, and since this was the first time doing it for me, glad on learned that on a piece of junk from canal street.
so, after doing that, i would recommend, like the others, to just do it by hand with a set of swiss cut needle files, i would rather spend a few hours modding each one of my cases to glory then destroying them in 5 seconds.
I bought one from Andrew, and while it is quite good, the bezel is not the right thickness, its the same thickness as the modern sub, and it should be alot thicker, other then that, its pretty much dead on. The dial, crystal, hands, cgs, etc are all really really good, even the hev (helium escape valve) is pretty damn decent.
also, the transaction was superb, just keep that bezel thickness in mind.
and yes, the 1665 is the best.
just like ubi says, do some research, tons of info on the boards on mbw's and how to obtain them. I got 2 of them within 2 weeks of being a member, because i actively researched them, asked questions, put my feelers out, and gained peoples trust.
one of the best things about mbw's is getting them, its a challenge. have some patience, enjoy the hunt, and you'll get one
and just to add, be prepared to pay anywhere btw $350-$450 usd. they aint cheap, and when you get your hands on one, you'll understand why
Just practicing with the camera.....my 2 babies, mbw drsd with gen tropic 39, and my mwb 1680 red sub with gen 127. this is the only pic i actually liked at all.
Dug up an old sub case, a pretty shitty one also at that, and broke out the dremel and decieded to take my first shot at case modding. Did the cg's and the bracelet ends. It's far from perfect, not even that good in my opinion, but i just wanted to give it a shot so I can work my way to modding my mbw cases. yeah, and the pictures stink, camera's on the fritz.
anyway, let me know what you think for my first effort, i ran out of rouge thats why it hasent been fully polished.
original on top, modded on the bottom, enjoy...and let the flames burn
Yeah, i never removed them though, and before i did the mods, the date clicked over at 12. strange, oh well, guess the easiest way to fix it would be to remove them and then place them back on at 12 when the date rolls over.
anyone have a direct link to somewhere i can order the hand removers for the eta in the mbw vintage sub???
Now, my date is rolling over around 5:35, instead of 12:00 like its supposed to. Any thoughts on how to fix this myself? the watch is functioning perfectly, except that.
