I am the luckiest man in the world today...

X...Close call brother....As hard as you worked to get that thing, I can only imagine how you felt when you heard that clang.... Glad it worked out.....Finally have a SOHC on the way, can't wait..... -
I would have to agree with Ronin on this one but while saving up for that Gen , my money would be better represented with one of Noah's Soxa for $200-$275 depending on what you want on it. The Doxa is one of my favorite watches and haven't had one yet, but certainly will someday but until then, its one of these for me:

Ha! Mr Hack...You are very resourceful and quite the visionary. Looks awesome!!!! EXACTLY what I had envisioned for that dial when Servat so kindly sold it to me but I just wasn't at the point to see what the dial would look like in fully completed form. Wow! Niice work! Congrats! Now if you could find another dial and hands to finish mine....ha.! I've got a perfect case set on the way from opcrown but still need a dIal hands and movement......Ha! It's always something huh?Turn out great R- just like you said it would....cheers!-Murph

I'm working on sourcing a few so will let you know....

Not sure I am qualified to do a full blown review..... but I will be sure to post some pics. I think I am also going to buy a couple of Quartz versions and see how they look on the wrist....I know, I know, quartz.....but I'm curious. Also planning to try to order another SOH black in whatever version is available just to compare to my V2 in person. I will try to update this thread with a link to my review if/when I can get the watches and get some good pics.
-
Thanks veja, for your take on the V2 vs the gen. I just just picture you going in to the AD and then back out the car, etc....ha! Hilarious....The things we do in the name of the hobby......ha! I just wish I had thought ot if....I remember seeing your thread pics of your bronze on the mesh and thinking that was a very classy piece. Does anyone know if there has been a full review on the SOHC V1 vs V2 vs Gen like there is for the SOH?
-
Thanks Mickey....That just what I needed to know. I have a couple of V2 SOHs - 1 with mesh and 1 with OR as well as the gen pro diver rubber but can't wait to see the SOHc, which is, in my opinion, one of the best looking dials on a chrono I've seen (in pics of course...ha!)
-
I've been looking to get a SOHC and my dealer asked if I wanted version 1 or 2? I wasnt aware that there were 2 versions of the SOHC. I know the differences and have seen the great thread on the comparison on the v1 vs v2 SOH but haven't seen anything comparing the SOHC versions. Any of you Breitling pros out there willing to give me a quick run down and option on which is the one to have? Thanks in advance, -Murph

nice little portable camera studio
Panther917 replied to dolphinfreindly's topic in General Discussion
I just bought one for the hellofit but for $20.00 it was worth the foldable tent. At only 12x12 it will be nice and small for a watch tent but I'm sure those lights aren't going to be enough light. What bulbs come with it and what did you replace them with? Do you still use it? I've got a couple of other lights that most likely will be used but I like the nice portable size of these lights if you can get some decent daylight bulbs for it to make them useable. At any rate, the tent will be worth the $20 if nothing else.... -
Love the night monster....sharp-o!!!

Vacheron Constantin Overseas (2006 make) dial torture
Panther917 replied to Katerchen's topic in Other Brands Area
Whewwww babbyyy!!! That is sick!!! I thought I had decided on a VC to be my "dress watch" but after seeing this dial, dont think I could wear the rep....Ha! Dammit George, I'm ruined..... -
I haven't had one, yet.....but I think that panda dial has to be one of the best looking dials out there. I'm anxious to try this out sometime. Very classy....

Thinking about pulling the trigger, is this rep worth $1000?
Panther917 replied to Mixtimp's topic in General Discussion
Exactly....Ha! Now if you had said, "I'm thinking of pulling the trigger, is this watch worth $179,000?", then, I would be saying not just no, but HELLLLLL no......ha! That was my point about it being relative, and I think, what others have meant about you liking the watch, if you do, and can afford it, then go for it. I personally would rather use that $1000 to buy 3 other good quality reps but that is just because I love too many different watches and cant seem to decide on just one or two (which is why I got into reps to begin with) Some day, after I have seen as many of the good quality replicas, I will narrow it down to purchase the gen version of my top few favorites, but after seeing the quality rep versions, and how some of these guys can modify them to get them close to gen, that may never happen unless I just feel the need to have the gen version because it's....Genuine.... -
Thinking about pulling the trigger, is this rep worth $1000?
Panther917 replied to Mixtimp's topic in General Discussion
Its a beautiful watch, but it would be tough for me to pull the trigger a that cost, too many others on my want list. Of course it's all relative, what's the Gen cost? -
mine came probably about 2 weeks ago actually (rather than 1 week ago as posted earlier) but it was all beat up and actually in a box from where it had been mishandled during shipping. Not sure why but it almost looked like it was in one of those boxes they put your luggage in at the airport when the zipper busts or gets damaged.....It did arrive though so just fyi.....good luck guys. Its a cool book but only bought it b/c it was so cheap. I'm not sure I would buy the current year b/c it doesnt review every model/brand but highly worth the price on this one.

Which A21J movement is comparable ETA, etc....
Panther917 replied to Panther917's topic in General Discussion
Thanks guys, this gives me a good place to start. I will look into the miyota 2813 and dg4813 as options. @fixrandy - Thanks Andy....I will look into the miyota 8215. Ofrei had one for $31.00 which might be the route to go instead of the 2813 @fijikid - yeah, I have already purchased a swiss UPO as it's replacement, just trying to practice on the PO rather than scrapping it. I'd like to keep it as a beater and make this a learning experience. The GMT has miraculously started working again? Strange.....I have to put just the slightest amount of pressure pushing down while the crown is in the time setting position for the gears to engage to set the time, but it works fine after that. Now, if I just wear it every day or keep it on a winder, I'll be in good shape -
Which A21J movement is comparable ETA, etc....
Panther917 replied to Panther917's topic in General Discussion
Nice one max I love it......ha! I'm a Tarheel man myself and was hoping to see WVU win it all but Dook played well and deserved to win. I was Butler's biggest fan that night, but Dook deserved to win (wow, that was hard to say.....) -
Guys I have two watches that are currently giving me problems. I'd like to be able to try to fix them myself but have no idea which movement they are and the comparable ETA version 1) PO - A21J (no longer able to set time via the crown, appears stripped) 2) Omega GMT - A21J (starting to slip setting the time via the crown unless I apply slight pressure downward on the crown when setting time) My question is this....Is there a cross reference or something out there that tells what movement should go into each particular watch? I get confused when looking at the Asian clones vs ETAs vs gen movement and trying to find out if these watches are worth repairing? For example, what if I just wanted to buy another A21J movement to put in my PO 45mm? What should I get to be a direct fit into that rep case? What about the Omega GMT? Is that the same A21J movement? or is it a different one because it is a different case size? Would it be a better option to buy an ETA movement to swap into these cases? If so, how do I know what movement is the correct size / type for these particular cases? Could I put a quartz movement into these cases? Just to try something different or would that mess up anything or not fit? I'd love to learn more about movements and which ones fit into which cases and whether it is better to repair a movement or replace a movement when these types of problems occur. I just figured that for the cost it would take to have a watchsmith repair it, I could replace it myself with some good tutorials on the forums. I think I just need a good watchsmith..... Any takers? If this is in the wrong area, please let me know and I can repost in the right section... Thanks...

Anyone know of a source for a new bezel insert for a SOH black..? Just bought a SOH and the bezel insert is chipped and was wondering if a replacement is available. Thanks....

Real Oris TT1 diver vs. Rep Rolex GMT Pepsi
Panther917 replied to fred7777's topic in General Discussion
IMO, I dont see the rep standing up to your Oris. Completely different watches really but there are some good Rolex reps out there. It really just depends on how to to the gen you want it to be. There are budger versions that look pretty decent for $100 but if you want many of the small details it would be much more. If you like Oris, the Carlos Coste LE is a great replica. I own it and it's one of my favorites. -
I bought one and got it about a week ago.....Nice picture book....
