  1. Doubt that rbj will get the irony or humour of this post, then again who cares?
  2. Buy a lottery ticket, because you are on a lucky streak! Welcome and enjoy the hunt.
  3. Jerry M was, IMO only worthwhile film that Cruise has been in for a long time. Not a fan of his. It has far less to do with his personal issues versus the overblown hype of his looks masking a basic lack of professional depth.
  4. I vote for nasty , nasty spam that is !!!
  5. Nanuq had a better and faster method of arriving at the same end result. If it's not to your liking, turn it into a Poley, or Roley, or Polex but don't destroy the piece!!!
  6. LG openall from Ofrei is excellent for about $ 80 USD As said earlier, the rep case backs can see variation from one to another so perhaps blaming the case opener is not entirely fair...
  7. You calling me a [censored]?
  8. At first I thought this would be a typical newbie post, naturally I am somewhat pleasantly surprized !!! Excellent example of how Rolex has screwed themselves - yet again! I cite this example: Mercedes makes parts for it's cars going back...well almost to the beginning from what I read. It may not be an issue to most of their customers, but it gives them the option to pass on the car to their kids or restore it later if that's in the cards. It tells me that Mercedes cares about what they made, not just what they sell today. When you realize how many Rolex are stored in vaults, protected from everyday events in the notion that someday it'll be worth something even more... or the example of how they promote themselves as being the icon of sports watches, classic designs that slowly evolve...then they go and cease making parts ??? what does this do to the future value of the brand? It tells me Rolex is a sales & marketing company not really concerned about horology or it's own history. The aftermarket & replica makers will triumph at Rolex' expense. Can you imagine GAF trying to sue some aftermarket parts maker who serves the public with a product that even Rolex has decided to abandon? " why yes, your Honor, we ask that Mr. Rolex Owner buy a new watch instead of purchasing these dirty replacement parts for his old watch" " but it was a gift from me mum upon my graduation from med school, I was only trying to get it to run, is that such a crime?" you can guess how this would play out!
  9. This is a time to leave it alone. It used to be suggested that you needed to oil a rep bracelet to get the squeakies out, but in fact this noise is exactly what the genuine Rolex' do when they are new. Go ahead oil if you wish, or leave it alone and wear it 24/7 for 1-2 weeks and it should quiet down nicely. Over at Timezone, the Rolex geeks love to proclaim ' it ain't real if it doesn't squeak' Relax, the easiest part of making a fake Rolex is the copying of the POS genuine Oyster bracelet - squeaks and all.
  10. Put premium 91 Octane in my Passat today at $ 1.165 CDN per Litre. Diet Coke was $ 1.49 CDN per 2 Litres. I use 1 L coke per 100km. Passat drinks 7 L per 100km @ 120km/h. My car has a drinking problem me thinks.
  11. What do you guys think of Howie? My FIL had the misfortune of having him as a student when Howie was in highschool, to this day he cringes when you mention the guy! Naturally we bring this up FREQUENTLY!
  12. Great choice and nice to hear EL is unchanged. Glad your life is returning to normal, you've had a hard time and pleasant surprizes and treats are long overdue!
  13. Yup, a wee bit sour. Efficient though, covers off on two things I don't really like. Sorry 8o8, you can ignore my vitriol, I'm not a fan of PAMs or the other subject of derision. In my revised opinion, visit some flea market sales. Buy some old pocket watches and tear 'em down and put them back together again. Repeat as long as it takes to get it into a routine. Paneri movements are usually about the same size as a pocket watch movement, perfect for a beginner and far less fustrating than a normal sized watch movement. Good luck, post your results.
  14. order from TTK, you'll end up with the victim watch in no time, assuming your order is filled.
  15. Yes, getting concensus around here is ' troublesome' to say the least. I'll just enjoy having the worlds only Poley Yellow Sub. Fast forward 50 years when my kids take it the the antiques road show...???
  16. I knew from ZZ that you had other 'healthy distractions'. Welcome back, trust you will be here in moderation?
  17. very tasteful, which one is the 'beater' or do you have such a thing?
  18. he must still be in the shower, not like him to wait so long to reply... Rubber ducky, your the one...
  19. excellent photos, and the improved red font on the YM is damn fine. Swiss Eta's or what?
  20. I was a perfect asset too RWG and still am to this day needs a re-write: I was a perfect ass to RWG and still am to this day
  21. same old, same old I see. You put any weight on since ? if I'm not mistaken, your spelling has improved ~ a bit anyway. Welcome! from one of the old farts.
  22. You know I wondered how this Poley would be recieved here, yes I know I have history here, but even so I expected a bad reaction. How wrong could I be? Ironically, this is probably the way we should have done the rwg 1st collaboration watch, take something we all (almost anyways) had anyway and have them customized in a common style. I bet The Zigmeister and Joe could have banged these out pretty fast. Funny when you think of GAF's reaction! reps being converted into Poley's or Folex, etc. I love the Fleur de lis version, but that would exceed my painting skills by a MILE (1.61km) Subfrog, can you create a version that could have the rwg 2 logo and maybe we can all create our own 'hommage' watches? FYI: The Flag on the Poley is balanced by 2 red cherries on the left, not conventional, but ....whatever. I perhaps should have used solvent and erased the original 5 point crown, but I just painted over it. If I made another, I'd clean the slate and start fresh. I considered using a decal of some sort, you know the ones that come with scale model kits, but I elected to go with a painted flag design. The WIS MADE is my favourite too, it was not really preplanned ! I actually was going to black out the SWISS MADE completely and then realized I had a far better opportunity under my micro paintbrush The yellow second hand is actually really sweet, it has such excellent contrast against the black dial, you'd swear it was done intentionally ~ provided you are not a true Rolex WIS. I posted this project on another (real) watch forum, the funny thing was that one of the newbies thought that WIS MADE implied that I had done in WISCONSIN Thanks again for your kind reviews of my artwork, I hope I inspire others.
  23. You need a Poley. Special Deal just for you !!!
  24. Attention all viewers !!!! Choose your colors for your Poley dial, capture that special creative spirit within you!!! oy vey the phones are exploding over here !!
