  1. As Watchmeister and Dluddy have said. Personally I'd stay away from this as you'd always have difficulties proving it's authenticity should you decide to flip it. On the other hand, not many people would know (we're the worst and most knowledgeable kind when it comes to picking rep vs gen bits:-)) what to look for, including the dial diffs between the C and D-series, so in that regard you're probably safe. Again, if I were you, I'd pass unless you can get it for some nice $$ sum ;-) cheers, b
  2. You and me together, mate...
  3. That was the original CG design drawing used to file for a patent. It had however not much to do with the reality, even the watches made before and shortly after 1956 had a crown/CG design that's closer to the current and contemporary design. That drawing is a good source, but really just a mock-up of the 'real' thing. The crown on a pre-A to F-series sits just a slight bit higher than top of the CG,barely noticeable without detailed inspection. On the G-series onwards as well as pre-V models the top of the crown can appear even a little sunken or lower than the top of the CG, depending on an angle of view since the pre-V and G-series historic CG flares slightly out from the case up. Basically, don't sweat these things as they're not worth sweating about, as I said in my post above - you're good to go, just plonk a nice CG on it and enjoy it!
  4. Excellent result mate, there's certainly some serious tought and prep that went into creating this great piece. cheers, b
  5. Not bad actually. There are far worse around like some of Getat/Jackson and recent ones from DSN, but yours is quite good.
  6. Hey mate - that's a work of art you got there...love it! cheers, b
  7. Music to my ears, W...thanks for an update! cheers, b
  8. Sorry guys, my bad...thought the price I read was in US$ ;-) I knew they were 40Eur before, that's why I got stumped. cheers, all is good! b
  9. Ha, ha, the're sure cool..I heard they've been included in one of episodes of Simpsons ;-) cheers, b
  10. Hey - just noticed your avatar, youdon't happen to be from Kiwiland as well by any chance? :-) cheers,b
  11. No, not hard mate...but you may cringe a bit when you check the latest DW price though ;-) www.2geek.net cheers, b
  12. He's already done the dial and hands. Pretty much close to his 27/28/A PR models.
  13. Correct, mate. Sometimes light reflection of the polished top surface on some photos would distort the actual flat finish. cheers, b
  14. Davidsen used to make thinner dials for years, the ones that wouldn't require H3 cannon pin / hour wheel install as the hands posts will be made artificially higher. These were primarily base dials, not Marina dials as no matter how thin the dial the hour hand on those would catch against the sub-second hand and ultimately scratch and damage it. That's the only high cannon pin upgrade alternative that I know of. The capped hands looked a bit off with the "nipple" effect in the middle, which was silly. If you care about your watches and have attention to detail, only the right way would do it...meaning upgrade to H3 CP and hour wheel, as well as flattening and polishing the CP top. cheers, b
  15. Thanks mate, much appreciated! Will send the list to DSN for reference. BTW, it's scary that at this stage of a project (last weeks) he still requires this pretty much basic model info. Let's hope everything comes out OK. cheers, b
  16. Ok...so received the not-so-good reply today. The 24A 12-click bezel fact wasn't considered, so DSN will try to rectify that. There are 4 subs in production, 24A/D and 25A/D - this has been confirmed, so we don't have to guess anymore. The production of the new re-edition of PAM029 GMT is currently hindered by issues around ETA- 2893-A2 GMT mov't availability, so it may not happen at all. ETA-2836 with add-on GMT module is an option, but neither DSN nor many of us are too keen on thas idea. All that aside, I really need an assistance from the community to confirm/discuss the following before re-confirming with DSN: 1) PAM 024A S/S - polished S/S case, polished S/S bezel and studs, no hash marks - 12 bezel clicks - matte black dial finish (or is it deeper jet black dial finish?) - no metal circles around dial markers 2) PAM 024D S/S - polished S/S case, brushed S/S bezel with polished studs, with 15min hash marks - 60 bezel clicks - jet black dial finish (or is it matte black dial finish?) - no metal circles around dial markers 1) PAM 025A Ti - brushed Ti case, brushed Ti bezel and studs, no hash marks - 12 bezel clicks - matte black dial with waffle finish (or is it deeper jet black dial waffle finish?) - no metal circles around dial markers 2) PAM 025D Ti - brushed Ti case, brushed bezel with polished studs, with 15min hash marks - 60 bezel clicks - jet black dial waffle finish (or is it matte black dial waffle finish?) - no metal circles around dial markers Anything major I missed? He's already sorted casebacks and serials for the respective series. Let's confirm/add/remove from the list above to get this Sub project rolling faster, guys. So far I only know of one setback, new 24A bezel with 12 clicks will have to be made. Let's hope there aren't other details DSN missed thanks, b
  17. I've actually sent a long list of 'preferred improvements' to him few weeks ago. The guys that know me from before know how obsessed with detail I could be. The list wasn't exactly half page long as I wouldn't like to p$ss of the Master ;-) I also raised an issue of 24A having 12 bezel clicks...I believe after that his case maker probably swore at me Still no reply...if anything comes my way that's interesting to the rest of community in this respect, I'll post it here for sure. cheers, b
  18. I wouldn't bet on it mate. And I know what you mean...the lever is too centered for pre-G series CG, the top is too flat...you name it it's full of issues I was planning in replacing the CG with a cartel one anyway...;-) There are other issues of course, like thinner and lighter casebacks he uses, but I don't see that fixed any time soon, importunately. The c/back engraving is also substandard, yeah...I know what you mean.
  19. No worries mate, his 24/25 subs will come in two flavors, A7750 and ETA7750. You're safe Should be few more weeks though, not too long. Fingers crossed everything comes out as planned. Cheers!
  20. Few more models are on the cards, and some non-subs if he manages to source the particular ETA movements he's after. Let's just hope his case maker fixes the issue with stubby lugs and position of the CG that's currently sitting too high on the side of his 'auto' cases.
  21. babola

    PAM222

In short... 1) yes, but it comes with some issues 2) no, not that I know of
  22. Wow...that date now looks almost bigger than cardinal numerals on the dial - great magnification, mate! Hide it, don't let Panerai see that DW, they may get all sorts of new ideas
  23. The 'neck' on the back of the crown still appears to be too thin, this causes the crown to sit closer to the case than it really should. Not a big deal for most of the folks out there, anyway. That said the crown looks OK, it's slightly wider than the gen, but should compensate well for slightly larger CG crown cavities on LHero and Torobravo pre-V CGs. cheers, b
