I was waiting for Rob's response. He just installed a Swiss 7750 for me that was "gummed" up. They're mechanical movements, all of which will need service.
Thanks for the info, Zig.
It's a great looking watch. I've got one, though it's been in service for longer than I've had it in my possession. Seeing your pics makes me miss it that much more.
You're right... it is pretty good. Any chance we can see some of the single numerals to compare? I can't believe I just made such a ridiculous request... but there it is!
She's a beaut. Any word on whether these new Asian movements (I assume this one has the regulator) are any better/more reliable than the old Asian 7750?
I just don't think that any of DSNs watches are all that great w/ respect to the gen. Not that they're bad watches per se, just there are a million little niggly flaws that annoy me. You've got a great watch, just enjoy it for what it is.
The Zigster told me not to waste money on the hands, but I couldn't help myself. Parts ordered are:
1. Gen Dial
2. Gen hands
3. Gen crown and tube
I'm thinking about ordering a gen crystal... has anyone tried to install one? I understand the issue with the bezel, but I'm not sure I'm going to spend $200+ on a plastic lume dot!
Can I see some pics of a fully modded UPO??
And it's on its way to me from The Zigmeister now.
And here's a list of the mods (so far:)
new ETA 7750 install
GENUINE dial install
hands lume tritium colour
pearl lume
GENUINE crown install
CG lever $10
CG feet filed down to move CG closer to case.-- A new crown guard is on its way, so no problem there.
Only one thing left -- a date wheel.
I can't wait to post pictures for you guys. I'm sorry I kept the gen dial thing quiet for so long, but you know how it goes.
Thanks to Zig for the work, and to "you know who" for the help in pulling the pieces together.
I won't say "better," because to some that correct stack is extremely important. I will, however, completely agree with your sentiment that, for ME, it is preferred. High 200's, same quality case components and the 2836.
You know, as a rep, I think I'd rather have the incorrect hand stack version of this watch. All the case features and with a movement that, while not perfect, is at the very least a known commodity. I know it's not a true, GMT, but it gives me a second time zone. And it's a rep, after all.
Great pics. Thanks for sharing. Now I just need to try and find one for myself.
Check my post in the middle of the first page. DSN's 000 has bad dial details, bad crown details and bad crown guard details as compared to the gen.
As compared to other reps, it will have better lume, sometimes better crown guard fit, and pretty good crystal.
Hope this helps.
I am genuinely confused! If Asad's watch is fake, it's one of the best reps I've ever seen. Frankly, I'd always assumed that it was real. It doesn't look exactly like mike, but mine's a J, and there have been some changes.
