You want gen? Here's mine for comparison. I think these pics make it pretty darn clear that there's just about nothing right on DSN's dial. Fonts on printing is off. Numerals are off. Crown is off. Crown guard is off.
That said, a rep is a rep, so you decide if these things are important.
Ha, oh yes I do. I meant to type that this is NOT the correct hand stack version. makes a difference, don't it? Jeez, I really ought to proof read these things!
Yeah, it is definitely the incorrect hand stack. Which, again, I've always thought was pretty reliable.
Yes, I'm aware. But when I set it to three hours behind the main time, it should stay there, shouldn't it? It starts at 3 hours behind, then falls to 4, etc. This morning, I set it to 3 hours behind, so at noon here, it's 9 am on my GMT. By 2, the GMT hand was telling me that it was 10, so it had lagged to 4.
First, I've read up and I know that the 2836-2 movement was not designed as a GMT. My GMT hand isn't staying synched with the main time -- falls behind a few hours a day. Is this something that can be fixed, or do I just have to learn to live with it. This is the incorrect hand stack version.
I've seen others without this problem, so just wondering.
Thanks in advance,
TK
Having had the gen for a little while now, without hesitation I can say that The Zigmeister's lume treatment is actually BETTER than genuine. In fact, I think you all would be disappointed with the gen lume if it came on one our your reps. A The Zigmeister upgrade makes it one hell of a WATCH, not just a good rep.
Enjoy your Cousteau!
You have no idea how right you are. I have to tell you, I'm amazed generally at how good some of the mods on these watches are. For example, I've been wearing a gen Slevin for a couple of days now and I've made the following observations:
1. Chieftang's AR is far, far superior to that of the gen. It's no comparison. Sure, the gen has a beautiful blue hue, but as far as true anti-reflective properties go, it can't hold a candle to what Chief does.
2. The Zigmeister's superlume treatment is so much better than the gen it's unbelievable. The bezel lume is weak to put it mildly. Think rep lume -- it is that poor. The Zigmeister's lights up like the sun in comparison.
Bottom line -- and there is a bottom line here -- don't be so taken with blue tint as a sign of quality. As Lanikai says, there's more to it than that.
What a great watch. I hope to see one of these in person in the near future.
I will say this: if you can put together a reliable running seconds at 12 movement, you could make eleventy billion dollars on this board.
You have to ignore some flaws. That said, that particular flaw would annoy me. Some flaws that I never would accept are a lack of basic functionality. The seconds hand should run, the chrono counter should work, etc.
I've lost the top chrono pusher on the Slevin. So I ordered a replacement pusher from Angus, and I've just learned that a tiny spring must also be included for the pusher to work.
Does anyone know what part this is? What does the spring look like, and can I get a replacement?
Thank you in advance,
TK
