Hi all, been wearing this Airking (dial is only part gen) for a coupla days - having owned it a year or so it's never been used because I deemed it too small. Suddenly I love it. IMHO, its small size scores big in the "don't impress" department. Highly recommended for people who are pretty cool and want to avoid appearing as if they're trying particularly hard :-) Less is more indeed. Have a great weekend all, mg

Lollipop hand - is that a front-pinched merc secs?

Finding it extremely difficult to decide how to build. One voice states with overwhelming logic that the original fake US-M version is worth more, easier to sell on and of more historic interest. Another demands beadblasting, black bezel and a Commando dial as a matter of taste. Also, I have to admit that as far as HF &RWG community devotion goes, it becomes kind of a duty to go for option 1. But although I spend embarrassing amounts of time on HF & RWG, I don't tend to wear "purist" or true-to-original reps or SS watches as such, regarding Rolex I only wear this Space-Dweller 2 prototype that I got last year...so I'm fearing that I wouldn't use the US Marine true version a lot...

Found the case/bracelet on ebay (250 bucks or so). According to some HFers it's probably a rep of the fake US Marines that was made in Asia (Vietnam) around 2007. Pelagos is a bewt. Futuristic retro. And I mean that in a positive way. It's taking the symbols Tudor own and going forward with them. I love it. Slick, toolstyle, easy -- this could've been the new Submariner, imho it IS. I might be in the minority here but I believe that the Pelagos offers more value than Black Bay in that it is less contrived, more future. However this is purely subjective of course, that's why they made both! If I had the economy to buy "new watches on impulse" I'd be all over this. The Pelagos is also a very funny watch, in the sense that it totally takes the pi$$ out of big daddy Rolex. I love the adventurous spirit of Rolex, but in my opinion, the Pelagos captures that spirit better than any of Rolex' current models, it's nailed it. Reminds me of Luke Skywalker: His destiny was to kill his Father. Edit: A part of my reason for loving the Pelagos: Same kinda balls as Sinn EZM1

Hi all, Finally embarking on a 6542 project, although it will have slight fantasy elements such as wrong crown (8mm) and wrong dial (1675). If/when I get called I'll simply have to admit I had to make it that way because Rolex failed to Haven't used Ingods dials for date watches before - do we wether the date-window works with w/2836-2? Thanks It's one of Andrews cheap Explorer II's with swiss movt bought on RWG, shaved CG and drilled lugs, DSN fat crown, Clark Crystal (should've been sanded sown but I liked the domeness), Ingod dial, Flightmaster hands, sandblasted locally and assembled/lumed by Domi! A bit on the small side but I love it for its no-nonsense almost introvert looks! mg

Hi all, Wurkin' on a new vintage fantasy project. Behold the copper-plated jacksontse 44mm. My stomach likes it but my brain says the patina is a bit over the top... It should be mentioned that it won't claim to be a Pam; non branded dial is coming so I guess it's more in homage land. What do yo all think? Any feedback appreciated as always:-) mg

Hi all, haven't done any new projects since the "SpaceDweller II" project but now I'm eager to try something! I humbly ask for your knowledge regarding a dial that changes when it becomes dark. It's a military watch project. The lume job would be done professionally. Pic 1: Dial unlumed. Pic 2: Dial in daylight. Pic 3: Dial in the dark The dial is basically stick indexes with vintage-tritium style SL that glows green in the dark. Now please not the 12 o clock indexes - there are three. The middle one is painted with vintage tritium style PAINT with no glow. The left and right 12oclock indexes are painted with BLACK lume that goes green. Will this give the effect that when it suddenly goes dark, the watch will go from having one center index stick at 12, to two? The idea being - - that in the dark you need a 12 o clock indicator, but in daylight you'll know where 12 is. Gimmicky - yes, but I'd like to try it out. I guess my CHIEF CONCERN is that the black lume won't be powerful enough and that uneven index lume will look cheap. Reduce lume power in the vintage tritium indexes to match phantom indexes perhaps?
