  1. It's a boy! 51 weeks after this thread was born...My new beater has come alive and is on his way home to daddy from the best watchmaker in EU with a lot of RWG friends on his mind. will post more pics and specs upon arrival. Cheers from friendly Norway mg
  2. Amazing! One watch to rule them all mg
  3. Hi Tag fans Do we know of a good source of genuine vintage Heuer parts in EU or elsewhere? In particular I'm looking for parts for the Heyer Regatta, however so far no luck searching REG or the web. Any input greatly appreciated! mg
  4. Hmm having thought about this.. Unlike Omega, Rolex and Breitling, Panerai hasn't really been out of grace since the pro's took over. An interesting issue about big watches is that only a few brands will keep doing them when the trend shifts to small. If the boss has testies, he will force through a narrowing and deepening strategy (and lose units sold) rather than follow fashion when the penduluum swings. If Panerai stick to their guns they might be rewarded for it I believe. On the other hand it's dangerous to base assumptions on yesterdays world. In a weird way, I believe Panerai need an uphill struggle (market wanting smaller) to reveal what they do in such a situation and to prove they have bigger balls and more integrity than "the others". On the other hand I know a lot of brands who lost everything because they stuck to their guns. What about reps? Always in fashion! mg
  5. Well I won it. Cool beater. Relume in order. Pics to come MG
  6. Hi all, I would be greatly appreciative of any information which might bring about the possible purchase of this hand. Without a doubt, this has to be the single coolest hand in the world I love it and wish to use it for a project. Thanks for any input! Best regards, mg See more here
  7. A tip for those who want to stand out and NEVER be imitated - this one will never ever be seen on housewives, presidents, baristas or fashionistas. A great watch with plenty of history and authority (Breitling made) fetching Speedie pro prices on the bay. It's an interesting thing to wear because you know most people think it looks like a cheap and ugly eighties beater, something only a nerf-herder would wear CHRONOSPORT UDT
  8. Damn, submitted an offer and haven't even had a drink yet. Ebay: It sure is weird to hope you win and hope you lose at the same time. mg
  9. Isn't this thing amazing? ARTICLE HERE, CHECK THE WRISTIE! Modest yet adventurous, toolsy yet elegant, it sends the mind off to the glory of the GMT MASTER Pan Am. Plus it has the one movement that parks the usual "mechanical good - quartz bad" discussion, the ever futuristic tuning fork! Arguably the only movement to ever feature truly perfect sweep! As JoJo once said herein, "watching the hand is truly hypnotic". 1000 bucks and the dollar is cheap! And - I have a spare movement, no, two! Found one on the bay today...Trying to cut down on stuff I can only pray to God I don't wake up to a tower of beer cans and a "please pay for your item" message from ebay tomorrow. Cheers! mg
  10. Hey Smidsy - enjoy it!!!! Sell it with a profit when you're done with it! You can't lose! best, mg
  11. Love the BR03 Aviation and even considered a gen. But this one, the Radar ones and the Skull watch... as a brand I'm sure they're making good money but so is Ed Hardy...
  12. The Space Dweller dial is "about" 28 mm according to IG44 (NDT's is 29 mm allegedly). The 1655 dial is 27 mm (says Yuki). BTW I'm using an old 1655 case from Andrew. Sorry I have no parts to measure. Anyway, the Space-dial is likely 1-2 mm "too big" for the case. So: Would widening the rehaut be enough to rectify this issue - - if indeed it is an issue? Half-full/half-empty-wise, drilling the blasted rehaut would demand painting rehaut black, which might look even better Input greatly appreciated as always mg
  13. Super Nice! Would you happen to know the size of the crystal? Thinking of getting a dome Cheers! mg
  14. If you say so Jkay all the parts going to the best watchmaker in EU tomorrow! mg
  15. (above: PS sketch using actual case/crown + stock dial + pwrpoint secs hand) Hi all, having exhausted fancy custom dial waterslide attempts - it just didn't look right, I've ordered this SD1 dial (from IG44 as discussed in other posts). I'm not happy about the fact thats its not the "SpaceDweller II fantasy" watch I originally wanted, on the other hand its a very good dial and as of late I've been 369-smitten. So I guess now its more a rep "freak gen" than pure fantasy somehow. I hope. And there's no date issue - I found the datewindow to be a major waterslide problem, as was making a silver writing on black DW. Any opinion on using this kind of dial on a sandblasted case? Secs will be the Omega orange chrono hand (similar to Tudor heritage), mins/hrs will be Omega too (as seen on other 1655 projects), and I'll use the vintage Omega shuttle date hand for GMT. Vintage lume on all hands (except secs) to match dial. It sure is a bastard. Hopefully a good one - changes still possible - chime in MG Edit: Any questions why I didn't post this on the Omega forum...don't!
  16. Yeah thats right. Seconds at nine and hours at six would just be distracting. Also note how the dial writing and date is designed to not grab eyes' attention. Great panic watch!
  17. It's a 60 minute "stopwatch" function I think. Incredibly useful in special ops situations and also around the kitchen! Also note the countdown bezel. Brilliant.
  18. Hi all, Searching for Sinn EZM here gave no results, do we know wether it's been repped? Without exaggerating I feel it's fair to state that undoubtedly it must be one of the coolest watches in the history of horology. Never been repped? That's just crazy, makes me and the rest of the replica community look like a bunch of fags!
  19. Hi, have no idea wether ths helps, but IF the hrs hand on the big Egiziano is significantly longer than on normal pams - maybe that would do the trick. mg
