Here is a piece of history I proudly own. This is sample watch, made by a pre-cartel high quality builder. It was the personal watch, sold to me in 2005 by a young entrepreneur who had dreams of opening a rep business and becoming a Trusted Seller. He sold this plus a second watch to fund the start of his shop. It’s such a nice watch! My dear friend Rob(The Zigmeister) did a few tweaks. Elazarus sourced a custom Choco MP strap. It has a patina that only comes from 15 years of real wrist age. Cheers! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

This was fun to read. I go back to the German forum days. I've bought and sold watches (or parts) from several of you. Euno will be glad to kNow that that the unembarrassed 6265 v72 is a champ. Loved it so much that I sold my previous v726 with a lot of franken parts. I hit 20 ish watches with an emotional inability to catch and release. Work got busy, and went to low-profile mode. Is Ubi or Nanuk still around?

Very reluctantly, Im about to put this guy up for sale on the Forum. Email sent to the mods to get clearance. A rare find obviously with a documented pedigree. And from a forever member of course. Ill answer any question you guys may have in advance. just pm me on the forum someone will get a real gem

If I can wiggle out of a few meetings today, I'll post round two.

Ive been on the various incarnations of TRC and RWG going back to around 2004. Like a lot of you guys, I went through my own obsessive compulsive buying sprees. I was picky, and bought what I thought were pretty nice pieces. Now, After doing three v72 projects, I'm finding that a lot of my neat watches just aren't getting the love that they deserve. Some frankly have been worn only a few dozen times I was fortunate to buy from a lot of characters: Maria, George, David, Eddie, River, Jimmy Fu, RBJ, Homer, Neil just to name a few. So I'm going to put some stuff up for sale that many of you that have joined in the last 5 years have never seen. I'll explain everything as best I can and will price them fairly. I hope that some of these will jog some memories from the old timers in the group. Hint - I got a jimmy fu case and CG that I'll offer at some point.... Hopefully that will catch a few of your attention..... I'll post be or two tonight Dave

When i built my first 6263, i had mike young at classic watch parts custom make some 71's more me. they're perfect. i have them holding a gen oyster for my second built, i used a pair of DW 71's and carefully removed metal from the inner diameter of the top and bottom of the links until i was able to get them to fit the case. its a pretty easy technique
-
What I recall from my two: 1. Inner diameter of case may need some metal removed in order to fit the movement 2. chrono pushers could need either a little bit of trimming, or alternatively loctite blue in to order to get the right fit 3. some cases get a better fit on the tube if you counter sick the case just a bit 4. if you have the 6263, be careful not to apply too much pressure on the bezel insert. The plastic can crack 5. Hands will likely need either staking or a dab of glue. Sometimes both if you over stake. :-( 6. The end links... oh the end links! If yours dont fit, you'll probably need to remove 1mm from top and about 2Mm-3mm from underside great projects.... most satisfying watches I own. I had Rob do both of mine and it was worth every penny.

I actually used the cylinder sandpaper. Not sure of the grit. It let me remove metal very slowly I'll see if I can add pictures later

If you're reading this, you know the problems fitting the 571 links on the DW case. I know some of the pros have tricks. Here's what worked for me. I found some gen 456B end links and tried them on the DW case..... they fit the case perfectly, but the center cut out was too wide for my gen 78350 bracelet. I took the gen B end links and compared the geometry to the DW 571's that come in the kit. The DW 571s are simply too large, leading to a bar placement that doesn't align with the case holes. My best guess is the top of the 571 is around 3mm too big, and the underside of the end link is around 2mm too big. I used a Dremel to uniformly remove metal along the top and bottom diameters of the end link. It took several hours of grinding and fitting before I got the fit I was looking for. But it looks amazing Be patient. Dont over-grind. But this approach works.

I wish I had the photo skills to match how nice these two guys look. The 6265 is newly back from The Zigmeister, and started as one of Eunomians projects that I happened to luck into. It's really a beautiful watch. I never thought I'd ever move the 6263 into second place, but the SS Bezel and black face really work well together.

To your original question, I put some of Yuki's hands on a v72 6263 The Zigmeister is assembling. he says they fit nearly perfectly. Not sure about if they will work on a 7736.

Question that maybe one of you guys can help with. I recall from my first time around that installing a T21 on David's v72 case requires some trimming of the inner diameter of the Tachy bezel. I'm in the process of doing a 6265 on a DW case and one of Davd's SS 6265 bezels. In order to accommodate the T21 crystal, does the 6265 bezel need to be trimmed too? Thanks in advance

I haven't seen them in a awhile, but if you can find a JLC Reserve De Marche, you'll be delighted. Very accurate, good movement, great prescene in a suit, and the gen price is approachable for a talented up & comer.

what is the consensus on the non-chrono 7750? Reliable?
-
humm.. I thought that the Mystery version could only be retrofitted to the V23. I'd triple check that through a search. I tried a V72C first but found that you had to remove the calendar parts to accommodate the inside dimensions. For teh sake of simplicity, I'd opt for the straight V72 or V726

Avitt we may have crossed paths. I was the VP/GM (both blue and VZ) for a large 5MM+ pop MSA in the the Southwest - but my scope came you direction - I was heavily involved with the divestitures & then the integrations of LA Cell, Cell One in SF, and GTE San Diego. The guy on the Blue side that is the executive champion of the iPhone came from the LA market. Glenn's in 'lanta now. regarding the networks - I hear what you're saying, I just think its splitting hairs. Both companies are robust & stable networks.
-
Through an odd set of FCC & SEC events, I happen to have worked with both VZ and the "blue" side of T. I actually knew Lowell & Lanman quite well & on the other side Lurie & Shay are in my extended set of friends. I have great respect for those guys. There's no meaningful difference between T and VZ networks. Looking for differences between the two is like splitting hairs. Even where there are tangible differences, you often give a little to get a little. For example, what you get from CDMA you lose in bandwidth propagation in the old PrimeCo & other 1900-only PCS block markets. VZ hates to talk about cell shrinkage on congested 1900 cells, but its true and it makes their coverage maps very organic if you know what I mean. T's got some shortcomings from running parallel platforms. I don't know to what degree it has been cited, but T is going to allocate a data-only range of their signal for the new iPhone. Think of it as a member's only toll-road Autobahn......... Lots of exceptional people built those two organizations. Either is a safe choice.

Love the look. I went a similar direction with my 201a. Mine is from Savage. You cant see it, but the tail & keeper are similar.

.....but they're magical when you finally get it right -
A year ago, I purchased a better mag cyclops for my 063. I'm just now getting around to having it installed. I also happen to have a DSN AR coated crystal that I purchased for another project. My 063 isnt AR coated..... do you guys know if the gen has AR or not? I'm wondering out loud if I should put the new cyclops on the DSN AR crystal ..... thoughts?

The 72 is a 18K a/H movement. The 726 and the 727 are 21.6K a/H. If you are trying to do a project watch, the difference in bph is of no consequence. The very small seconds register gives practically no clue as to bph. A much larger, longer seconds hand would allow you to count the seconds per minute. Hint: if you find yourself doing the latter, please check into you employer's EAP program. ;-)
