  1. Hi Guys, I'm just wondering if there is anything to look out for when sourcing these movements for Daytona replacements Any tips for a rookie on which watches are the best or what to avoid. Thanks
  2. I've just(two weeks ago) bought a complete running movement with stem and crown no dial or hands for a quarter of the price that ebay listing sold for. It didn't have Heuer or Breitling in the name maybe that is the difference. Could it be that it was in Europe?
  3. Did i miss something... I have been watching the prices of Valjoux 7734 movements even though i sourced one for a monte carlo build for myself already. I was watching this one which was only $60 with 7 hours to go http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/110882669004?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 Why is the price so high on this movement?
  4. I wish, no not mine, just saw some gen pics
  5. You have obviously coveted this watch for some time. Congratulations on finally getting it!
  6. Sorry i see these threads and i think they should be asking who has the second best, we all know where the best come from!
  7. I came across some pics and i wanted to share. I thought it was a stunning piece the photos aren't too bad either.
  8. Haven't read all the posts but i think the best Deep Sea sea dweller comes from ROLEX, I heard that they were not going to continue selling the watch past this year as it has not been as popular as expected. Better get in quick
  9. Tudor is well priced buy a gen.
  10. Hey guys, Ive got a question for all the sub experts on here. I wanted to buy a black insert for my gen 16610LV. I recently sourced one. It arrived in the post today and I unpacked it only to find that it looked a bit twisted out of shape. I placed it on the stone benchtops in my kitchen to see if It was an optical illusion but I was correct and the insert is twisted and bent. So is this something that I can remedy or does this render the insert useless? I'll try to get a photo that demonstrates the issue. I appreciate any help. Cheers
  11. No major reason, I like the slightly thicker case of the sea dwellers. The dial i have is a matte dial. I thought about a 1665 but i want a no date watch. Its not a big priority I had a bit of time over Easter and i got to fix up a few jobs. I'm wearing a 16610LV rep I bought back in 2007 and wore nearly every day for the 5 years since. Its busted up but rock solid. I've had to do repairs to bracelet dial but the movement is still going strong. Who says reps are poorly made. I dropped it on its face to see if the crystal would smash. The crystal survived but the dial lost half of its markers.(my wife knocked my gen 16610LV off the side table on NEW YEARS EVE and the crystal smashed hence i wanted to test the reps durability)
  12. It should be the case then that when you are washing your hands you take off the watch and soap it up and give it a private shower. I was always told to do this on watches with bracelets as the gunk that gets in between the links is what causes abrasion and wear in these areas.
  13. Sorry if i have asked a silly question, I just want to know if there is anybody with any experience for me on this. I just want to buy something cheap stick a gen replacement type high dome on it and rock it on NATO strap. Will Joshs 5514 tick the box or leave me dissapointed? Cheers
  14. Hey guys I'm looking for a watch to wear on building sites and bash around without concern. I was thinking about an explorer but then i've moved towards a 5513. I've got a nice 5513 dial with an eta 2836 no date, but I have no case to suit. So i started thinking maybe the chinese movement 5514 which would mean i could swap out the movement for an eta and switch between a comex dial and a 5513 dial. So I wanted to know if the quality of construction on this 5514 is the same as the much heralded 5513 /5512 from Josh or are they the same as the 1665. Any reviews on the Josh 5514 would be great as always all help is appreciated
  15. and... you work from one side then to the next? Thanks for the tip
  16. Ok so Clarks crystal is good now would i be able to change it the crystal myself. I have a press with dies that sit well on the bezel for a 16014 but i only have a pallet knife as a tool to remove it. If i remove the movement from the case can i press the crystal out the other way and then press a new one back in? Thanks again
  17. Hey I want to do the same thing. I was thinking that a SS Datejust case like a 16014 with a WG bezel Has anybody ever tried fitting a gen 3055 to a gen datejust case?
  18. It was a green sub LV that grabbed my attention and I bought a rep to test drive it. When the rep was falling to bits some 5 years on I thought about what it needed to make it better, clasp datewheel etc. Thought about spending money on it and then thought of the price of the gen at the time the exchange rate was good with the US and I pulled the trigger. I want a daydate but don't like the idea of $60000 for a platinum version, I'm not into yellow gold. So i want to build one with a datejust case one day... It is also really handy to get a reputation for owning rep watches. There's a reduced chance of losing your wrist. If they expect its a rep. I had one guy call me out on the sub LV when i was wearing the gen. I even let him hold it (I was feeling generous) Told me it was a fake and a poor quality one at that. I smiled on the inside. If you like to tinker this is a great hobby
  19. This watch knows what its here to do. Looks tough in an industrial way. Kinda says don't [censored] with me!
  20. Hi, I was thinking about buying an acrylic crystal for a 16014 datejust and was wondering if the clarks product was any good. Is the date mag correct? I appreciate any help. Thanks
  21. Thank you for the input. Steering clear.
  22. Hi guys i am thinking about buying a 34mm Rolex Air king for the missus. But i want to fit a modern arabic dial. Exoticleathers4thestars have what i want as a refinished dial. Has anybody had any experience with the dials and can comment on the quality or lack of. All help appreciated.
  23. If you're planning on buying a gen bracelet it sounds like time to just buy a gen. Worst case scenario you can part it out and keep the bracelet.
  24. I purchased an 18k white gold fluted bezel and when it came it was white gold but not 18k it was aftermarket and somewhere around 9k
  25. I'm not one to leave bad feedback on ebay or publicly rubbish companies i deal with. I'm one to vote with my feet. Put simply my dealings with a and e watches was the worst ebay transaction i have ever had. I would never purchase from them again. I have read on other forums that people have regularly purchased from them and as they have had trouble getting what they expect so they pick up from their shop address directly. I think my experience was due to me offering a price i thought was fair based on sales history and they thought that was justification to send a damaged case dial and bracelet. It was black and white in comparison to the pics of the item i won.
