  1. I agree whole heartedly I would rather a 16610 rep tahn a 116610 Gen. I think the sub peaked at 16610 and rolex didn't know what to do with it next. With so much pressure on them to update their models. The fat lugs don't do it for me, they should have gone the whole hog and stuck a 22mm or 24mm bracelet on it and it would have been a better looking watch. A great story anyway and its like the mate that offers you his car at the same price as the dealership offered to trade it in for. You offered a quick and easy sale. Have you decided which model 16610 you are going to buy. I went with an LV and It will always have pride of place in my collection.
  2. Hey if you took it to your local r s c for a service wouldn't that constitute ownership if the husband decided to be spiteful in the future
  3. what is the t138 group buy, did I miss out again
  4. It looks to me as though the outer track is at the same height as the main dial. I think the outer track is supposed to be sunken
  5. 200 euros is nearly TC territory do you want this model 116610 ceramic bezel sub. If you are happy with the older 16610 Model you can get a very good article for a little more than 300 Euro.
  6. Oh I was going to say that the exclusive Rolex service agent for Sydney in the 80's has huge parts racking at his shop. I have dreamt that one day he will sell me parts. But he holds onto them like they are his only opportunity to maintain his once profitable business.
  7. I'm not sure whether this applies outside of the US Ronin. I have a good relationship with the Service Centre in Sydney Australia. The lady there said that if a watch is brought in for authentication with a rep band / dial they would recommend the replacement to genuine parts if the quote was accepted they would retain the rep parts and dispose of them. Although they would not service the watch without returning it to its original state. I did a sneaky when I serviced my sub LV and popped off the bezel insert before bringing it in. I planned on replacing the service insert with the original one and selling the service insert but haven't had the urge yet.
  8. I'd be in for an all black 6238 dial if you think DW would do it. I doubt I would be alone
  9. Just wondering whether I can use a 3135 in place of a 3035. I know the hands fit. But had trouble sourcing dimensions. Thanks
  10. at the moment its 18038 which will come either when my bank roll permits or when the right watch comes up at the right price which ever comes first. I think when we look at some of the money spent on frankens 3-4k for the gen version does start to seem like a bargain. As wrong as this sounds.
  11. $3500 I think is cheap especially considering some franken builds would get close to $2000 with a lot of gen parts and still an eta movement. If you parted the watch out you would be making money! Maybe there is a market for buying complete watches and selling them in parts
  12. I say no deal. I have seen 16610 sell for 3900 with bracelet and complete To buy this project at $2995 needing parts and without a bracelet I would run. What is the cost of a gen bracelet around $1000 + the cost of the bezel + insert + parts to return it to a stainless watch and it is just not worth it. A friend just bought a 16610 blue face two tone for $4200 whilst he was over in the states I have bought a 16610LV off Ebay for the sum of $4800 + $99 for Rolex Sydney to authenticate it and I was a happy man. This was some time ago now. I haven't looked at what is out there but I would be spending more money and buying something complete.
  13. I saw this pic of a black 6238 and that it thought it looks fantastic. I didn't know such a beast existed
  14. I too thought some things were up I think he posted about wanting some better quality 128 crystals had watches from phong but wanted to buy phong crystals from members here. Certainly seemed strange. Thanks for making the effort to get this known.
  15. Are you saying that if you advance the date when the hour hand is at 12 this was something I did not think was a good idea. I am sure It says in the manual for my gen sub. That you can do damage to the movement. If you manually advance the date between the hours of 9 and 3. If I am setting the time I usually move the time to 6 to set the date.
  16. There should be laws against this sort of thing. I know that the popularity of the datejusts and daytonas with the asian region has seen some bad things come from ROLEX I think the bezel on this is just criminal. The masterpiece stuff from Rolex is very well executed this is not.
  17. I was thinking that a 16233 case would be easy as with tc movement and spacer 3135 specs but i do like the older plastic crystal watches
  18. The first pic looks to me a 16014 If not it has had its stainless bezel exchanged to a fluted white gold example. Great watch. Go franken spend between 700 -1000 have a watch that is all gen but the movement. I was looking for a case on the Bay and was drawing a blank. Seems all the cases have been gobbled up
  19. Wow, that is just incredible. I think of the dollar value it just gets so huge.
  20. If you bought from a dealer ask for another bracelet
  21. [censored] custom comex number The OP will be running for the hills as we speak. The response has been extreme
  22. That would not be a combo I've seen in the real world. But this look might suit you http://www.ebay.de/itm/Rolex-Oyster-Perpetual-Datejust-36mm-Stahl-Weissgoldlunette-Leder-Ref-16014-/180961402341?pt=DE_Kleidung_Schmuck_Accessoires_Uhren_Armbanduhren&hash=item2a2223dde5 The silver dials do take on an aged tinge and i think they look great. Get a silver stick dial or a tapestry dial.
  23. This is a topic i'm sure I've seen debated on the gen forums with the first pics of the 16610LV and the watch shown at basel being a lughole case with the 93250 SEL bracelet. Some say that this watch exists in the real world, I've never seen one for sale or ever pictured as someones watch.
  24. Hey guys, I had wanted to try out the clarks hands for the v72. For me to get the layout I wanted I needed to buy a couple of sets. For some reason the set that had the subdial and timing hand color I wanted had hour and minute hands that were shaped like the early cosmographs with the date on the dial. I'm sure that I won't use them Clarks calls the set the 800 for daytona If these hour and minute hands are any good to you. Send me a pm with an address and next time i'm at the post office I will send them off. Thanks
