  1. I find problems with the statement that a gen sub is not worth the money rolex charges. When i was looking at purchasing a replacement to the $50 16610LV i have worn for the past 5 years. I looked into buying another rep replacing the movement buying gen bracelets gen crowns gen tubes gen inserts. I started thinking to myself if you added a genuine movement that the cost of all these parts are more than buying the watch itself. If you wanted to say that a solid gold or platinum rolex was not worth the money i would agree. The price they value their gold at seems obscene. I honestly think you could buy a gen 16610 and strip it and sell it as parts for more than you would have paid.
  2. A quick update on this project. I have sourced 99% of the parts needed. I've got a movement a stilty spacer a gen date wheel dial hands bracelet. Its been an adventure along the way let me tell you. But i've been stumped on the new wheels required to get the hands to clear the dial I tried using the part numbers from this pic. It was posted by another user on the forum but all the eta dealers i have contacted asking for these parts say the part numbers are no good that they are an internal eta number and they can't help me. I have got the spec sheet from eta on the 2824 movement and they list hand fitting heights by number like a 1 ,2 ,3 ,4, 5, 6 with normal written next to 2 i was thinking the 4 size would probably be correct but i am unsure how to communicate it to a parts supplier the spec sheet lists the cannon pinion as a size of 2,70 the legend lists all dimensions in mm but why are they using a comma i already tried to order the height 4 set and felt silly when they had no idea what i was talking about. Thanks again guys
  3. Hey guys i was reading into these comments about rolex not buying into the larger watch trend. But i think the release of the datejust II and daydate II are there way of trying to market these models to the large watch buyer at 41mm they do feel a lot bigger. I've worn a gen super avenger in steel and i thought that was the most uncomfortable watch. That watch in titanium was fine as comfort went but i still didn't like it was just too bulky and cumbersome. Wear what you like to but predicting the future in trends if fashion follows it's current path i've got a funny feeling we are going to see gen Y men walking around jeans halfway down their ass no shoes and sporting the old 80's datejust
  4. Hey I tried to send you a pm. It said you could not recieve any. Thanks
  5. Yep Its a F series.Mk1 dial but with the pointy 4. It had the modern box, so maybe it will be seen as a transitional model. I think it will be a long time before any modern watches appreciate in value. I can't tell my story on rolex forums. The word rep would have seen this post shut down a long time ago.
  6. I have had a LV sub rep for the last 5 years it has a asian 21j in it. The endlink fit was actually very good the dial was good I enjoyed the look of the watch and enjoyed wearing it. It was starting to lose time and i didn't know what to do with it, which is when i stumbled across this forum. I thought i'll buy a better rep and contacted BK almost as soon as i joined up. The wait times for the wm9 meant that wasn't the option. Then i looked at replacing the movement for an eta putting a better crown and tube on. The bezel was scratched from me drilling the face of the watch one day. So i priced in a replacement bezel as well. Then i looked at the price of a gen bracelet as the clasp had broken. If you look at how much a used 3135 movement sells for. Adding it all up, I started thinking to myself the sum of the used parts are worth more than the watch would be itself. With exchange rates going my way i started researching some used genuines. I saw a watch on ebay that fit within my price range after i'd been looking around for a while at used dealers. I bid and won on an item and it arrived a week later I took it straight to the rolex service centre who authenticated it told me it had no service history and then quoted for a service. It kept great time so i thought i would wait to add some wear marks before a service was neccessary. Thanks RWG for helping me reach the decision. I've been trying to get photos like some of the ones on this site and have been failing miserably. I have tried setting up tripods and mucking around with the digi camera but the best pics so far come from the blackberry i even tried a lume shot I wish i could capture how the good the dial markers are reflected on the rehaut. I think it looks hot my photos don't do it justice What do you think guys. You can tell I'm enjoying having it on the wrist. My wife rubbished me as she hates the green bezel said it about the rep as well. She thinks its because i'm colour blind i can't tell how bad it looks and she reckons i should have bought an all black watch but after looking at maxi dial markers for so long. The alternate dial just doesn't look right.
  7. Hey i see some guys fit gen bezels. But where do you buy them from i can't find any rolex authorized dealer / service centre they will sell me any parts. Wondering if anybody can advise. I just want some gen 16014 springbars and a gen 16610 black bezel. Any help is appreciated. Thanks
  8. Hey guys i walked into an authorised dealer last week and they had a watch winder sitting on the shelf. I thought it looked great. I then asked the price $1100AUD Is anybody repping these and if not why not! I'd buy one I am expecting the birth of my first child and i always thought if my father had bought a rolex at my birth in 1978 it could have been very valuable now and a nice heirloom to boot and i thought i would check out whats on offer. I don't think anything in the current range will become as valuable as some of the daytonas/ subs. But maybe a 11610lv or the 14060m might become desirable pieces in the future. Who knows
  9. I think you have to look at each watch on its own merits that turn o graph with the white dial just looks horny with the leather strap it looks too plain with the stainless bracelet. You look like you are spoiled for choice on what to throw on the arm. I bet that would be a comfortable watch with the leather strap. It just pops with the contrast on the dark colour. Another sweet watch and nice pics.
  10. Did you try and fit the movement to a datejust case. It would fit if it fits the submariner case. But it won't work with a day date dial? Thats what i am hoping to do with the movement. I'm sure it will need a bit of custom work on the day wheel. And... i was looking about and eta lists the 2836-2 and the 2824-2 as fitting the same datewheel so shouldn't this mean the 3135 datewheel will fit both movements. Whatcha think an eta day and date wheel to demonstrate
  11. Thanks freddy Throwing this out there! see how the leather band has end links to finish the case off. Does anybody make these up or is there a way to mod some end links for this look. Also in regards to the lemania movements and their copies will these movements fit where a v72 belongs
  12. I think i found the seller of the movement ring movement ring
  13. I thought there where two different size cases in these bulova's a 36mm and a 38mm i've noticed your project in the pro hunter case and wondered which you bought?
  14. I'm in Sydney OZ OZ OZ
  15. Thank you freddy is it fitting its the same watch in the tutorial too. So does the caseback from the other gift case fit and is slimline?
  16. I just keep coming back and looking at this thread the photo's are just amazing. I have tried and tried since joining this forum to take pics of the watches i have but all i get is rubbish just blurred rubbish. The 6239 in the earlier post with the black dial and white susbdials is like watchporn. When you buy from DW can you ask for the A7750 watch to come without the winding rotor?
  17. So will DW sell this item perfect daytonawith the dial you have? Or do i need to buy the dial also, do i just ask when i buy the item. Thanks This watch looks fantastic. I want but not for $30000 Thanks
  18. Hey Stilty I can't send you a p.m and i've got some datejust questions.

    Thanks

  19. Oops i accidentally bought a bulova super seville to donate its 2834 movement for a daydate project.
  20. Alligoat thanks for the tips. The 16014 on the right looks pefect. That is exactly what i am looking to achieve. The case bracelet and dial i bought off ebay arrived today. It wasn't the way i had hoped it would be with the case having scratches where the bezel has been pryed up on both sides. The dial is also marked in a way that would make it unusable with a scratch around the base from 4 - 7 o'clock and some solvent burn at the 6 o'clock mark. Fun Fun Fun
  21. Hey guys I've sent Stilty a few p.ms without response. Will he only help me out if i upgrade my membership? I'd planned on doing it but i have blown a fair bit of cash in the last week. Cheers
  22. I have been searching for information and came across this forum, I have been interested in watches since being a teenager and have always put off buying myself luxury items. I bought a few reps about 4 years ago, It started with the Rolex President i was so drawn to the watch and i ordered a rep from the net it cost me like $260 AUDi ordered a yellow gold president and they sent me some garbage daydate that was different to the watch i wanted and and a Yacht Master that was actually a good watch. I made some good contacts overseas and ended up with a LV submariner that i wore for nearly 3 years without fault a datejust and a stainless day date. I want to buy a gen but i'm still not sure which one, I like some of the older series of watches. I was blown away by the vintage look reps i have seen on this forum with the end result looking incredible and a great way to achieve a watch that is rare and unavailable. I always liked the look of the older Date Just and I find these on a jubilee bracelet to be a very comfortable watch. I read some of the franken stories and nearly jizzed my pants it perfectly fitted what i wanted at the moment. I bought a 16000 case, dial, bracelet and crown off ebay, Just SS the bracelet has no clasp and the dial is not 100% what i want but i couldn't find anyone with the dial i want at the moment. The Submariner i have has failed the movement starts and then stops. I think i will replace the movement with an eta. I ordered a 2824 from the net and just need a datewheel hands and a movement spacer, oh and the new wheels to space the hands. I've worked out where to get most items just the H4 kit is missing. Great forum. Thanks already
  23. I've sent Stilty a p.m, so i will wait for a reply. Can anyone offer tips of where to buy a set of hands and the H4 gear set to get the hands to clear the dial. Other than that i just need the movement ring and a date wheel or overlay and a clasp for a gen jubilee bracelet and a gasket set. I've sourced a movement, I'm in Australia and the exchange rate today was great! The bits and pieces should start arriving soon. Appreciate any help. I can't believe this forum has been around and i didn't know about it
  24. But... Who do we buy this off? Is it ofrei , cousins
