  1. I have 2 crystal presses, but I usually use the hobby vice I got from Sears, which allows for much more accurate/even installation. This tool is 1 of those must-haves that come in handy for a variety of tasks You will need a set of delrin dies to set/hold the crystal/case in place, which are available from all the watch parts houses.
  2. Having an odd match often encourages additional scrutiny, which is not a problem if everything is gen or nearly so. In fact, it can actually work in your favor with a gen because viewers may assume you are an iconoclast, who wears whatever he likes regardless. But, on a rep, the added scrutiny may just cause you problems.
  3. Odd. That is very unlike DW. I do not normally get involved in these, but I have to think there is more to this story. Would you PM me with a BRIEF timeline of the date you paid, what you paid for & the dates of your communications to/from DW?
  4. It could be an old redial (the coronet/fonts look odd), but, either way, it still looks off to me.
  5. Case looks good (got sold while I was viewing it), but dial looks like either a redial or an artificially aged aftermarket & hands are aftermarket.
  6. Wrong. On a number of occasions, this member was engaging in activity that breached RWG rules. In each case, he was asked (politely) to cease & desist (2 such warnings came from me). Other staff members have reported similar (&, apparently, consistent) experiences. Not only did he continue the activity, but blew the moderator off (I am putting it gently), adding that no one has authority over him. This type of behavior, as he was informed, will eventually get him banned. Finally, after repeated brushes with various admin staff, inevitably, the boom fell & the member crys foul. For some reason, people like this are unable to connect actions with reactions, even when the pattern is repeated over & over, with warnings given in each case. He has no one to blame but himself.
  7. Patience, grasshopper. Patience. What you have looks good so far.
  8. Until/unless an official decision is made to provide additional details, it is safe to say that ZK did this to him self after having been given multiple opportunities. Believe me, if anything, the staff here always gives members a 2nd, 3rd or 4th chance before taking action. And when action is taken against a member, you can be reasonably confident that it was done only after a great deal of consideration.
  9. This is 1 of the most interesting posts I have read in a long time. I have never been an Anthrax fan, but I now have alot of respect for this ex-member. Thank you for posting.
  10. As much as I hate to say it, these are very costly projects. But, on the other hand, done well, they provide the feel/function of any other gen 62xx Daytonas @ a fraction of the price (even if that fraction is still a hefty sum to a civilian). Oh & sorry about the hard-ons. Try wearing baggy trousers & it will be our little secret. 1stly, with scam-style pics (small & dark) & only 16 previous sales (his only previous visible sale, a Daytona dial, which is itself questionable), you should assume this to be an aftermarket part until/unless he can prove otherwise (with a concrete provenance). 2nd, after a bit of image-editing to unhide some of the details, I am still not clear whether it is a poorly printed gen or poorly printed aftermarket part (my gut says the former, but we are not on speaking terms right now ). 3rd, what you describe as a 'nick' is pretty serious damage & I also see some 'nicks' around the 60. If you want to gamble on it being a damaged gen, then its value is up to you, the buyer. Without much better pics, I would probably keep my powder dry & wait for the next 1.
  11. Rolex requires you to return the old part so neither part ends up in a franken. This policy, which I believe it is unique to Rolex US only, began about 10 years ago.
  12. Vintage Rolex prices have been absurd since, at least, the mid-90s & this is unlikely to change as long as the demand pool continues to grow (it is only accelerating at warp speed with the recent influx of new Asian & Russian buyers) & the supply pool continues to shrink. I cannot think of many better places to park investment money these days. Of course, if collecting for investment, you have to know when to cash out (& it is never when common knowledge says it is time to do so ).
  13. If your local jeweler repairs Rolex watches with genuine Rolex parts, he likely has a Rolex parts account. 1 of the (many) requirements for having a Rolex parts account is that you apprise Rolex SA of cases of trademark/patent infringement. Failure to do so, can result in loss of your account. Just sayin'.
  14. No, I was not speaking in jest, but I am incredulous as to how any long-time RWG member with any interest in Rolex could not be (at least generally) aware of the prices & values being assigned to vintage Rolex parts & watches. I mean, seriously. Just in the past 30 days, I, alone, have posted 3 separate threads (1, 2, 3) discussing this subject. & that is just me.
  15. You have been a member here for more than 3 years & you ask why a vintage Rolex part is valuable?
