  1. As the others said, I would recommend against it. To successfully overhaul a mechanical watch movement, especially a chronograph, requires special skills, tools & specific lubricants applied in minute/exact amounts at just the right location. Either learn watchmaking or send the movement off to a watchmaker when you receive it (most rep watch movements are used/unserviced when you receive them).
  2. Justasgood - I am a bit confused by your post? Are you criticizing non-members (like gen collectors &/or those within the Rolex service network) who resell their stock on ebay, etc, or are you criticizing RWG members who tack a bit more onto the price for themselves? Or, are you hinting that some gen Rolex parts can be gotten through you at retail list price? I am not criticizing you, just looking for clarification (& to see if I need to install Justasgood at the top of my gen Rolex parts sourcing list).
  3. Thanks, All, for your perceptive input & Jojo pretty much hit the quandary nail on the head. Especially, in the case of the original/standard 6202, which came with black matte (Sub-like) dial. For me at least, that watch had to be on a steel bracelet. However, the De Luxe version of the 6202, often appeared in Rolex catalogs with either a rivet bracelet (7205) or a leather strap, very similar to the strap I 1st fit onto the head (in this pic, you can see 1 of the many dial/hand variations of the De Luxe 6202 - I have come across at least 6 dial/handset variations so far)
  4. As a fantasy piece, very nice. But I am not a fantasy guy & the dial (lume too shiny) & clasp spoil it for me.
  5. Alli - I think it looks too good not to get the correct bezel.
  6. Which do you prefer & why?
  7. Most of the gen sites are run in totalitarian fashion, so you have to read the rules & oblige them if you want to play in their sandbox. Being a gen site, I cannot really criticize them (too much) for coming down hard on posts inquiring about reps/frankens, which run against everything they stand for (like posting questions such as 'How can I rip off alot of rep buyers?' here). So if that was the theme of the post that caught a Mod's attention, a swift reprimand should not come as a big surprise to the OP.
  8. UPDATE Correct ss hand located/installed Done.
  9. If you use the diy setup in the link I posted above, you can drill through virgin metal with perfect accuracy & without anything wandering/shifting. Just insert the bit well into the drill's chuck, leaving only enough of the bit exposed as is required to drill through the metal.
  10. Looks a bit like either a Hublot or Zenith. Additional details about the picture & its context might be helpful.
  11. You will need to modify bit sizes for lug holes, but here is a reasonably simple/cheap diy method for drilling through virgin steel case material.

    DW 6239

DW sells 2 types of 62xx Daytona cases - 1 made to fit the Valjoux 72 (V72) & the other to fit an Asian 7750 (A7750). The external dimensions/shape are exactly the same (because he uses the same case for both movements, only the inside dimensions differ - taller caseback for cases made to fit the A7750 & shallower/shorter caseback for cases made to fit the V72). If you plan to remove the rotor on your A7750, then you can use the shallower caseback & you need to specify the V72 caseback when you order from DW.

No. Originally, the idea was proposed to use a manual-wind ETA chrono, but the wholesale cost of the movements was considerably higher than the auto-wind A7750 & DW did not think sufficient numbers of buyers would want to spend an additional $100-$200. So this is something you or your watchmaker would need to do at your end. Alternatively, you could purchase a DW from RWG member Spin, who performs the auto-wind removal for you (which I believe is based on this mini-tutorial). Someone else will need to chime in here with details on Spin's work, since I have never handled 1 of his modded watches.
  14. Ditto. Not sure I would say 'nearly all', but, certainly, a large percentage (possibly, even most) of them.

I would not be too quick to remove those humps because alot of gens have some type of hump as well Here is 1 of mine for comparison Here is 1 of mine for comparison From what I have gleaned from my picture archives, there is alot of variability in the shape of gen 62xx cases in this area.
