  1. DSN's closed case back reps usually come with standard undecorated or "golf ball" decorated, square bridged Swiss ETA 6497s. They are just as Swiss as you'd get from Jules Borel or Ofrei or anywhere else.
  2. No, Pre-V watches didn't have that engraving on the movement. But then, Pre-V and Pre-A/A-D series watches had steel case backs, so you wouldn't be able to see it anyway. Honestly, the finish of the movement is so far off from the gen SOPROD decorated Panerai movements that anyone who knows that the font is off, will know it is a rep, regardless. If it bothers you that much, get an auto PAM or a Pre-A/A-D series manual with the solid case back.
  3. I know exactly where that picture is from, and I know they are gen watches. Hence the smiley faces after making fun of the non-existant "flaws". Any of FGD's dials will work in a DSN case, AFAIK. Yes, DSN's 009 would be an example of a Pre-A PAM009. Again, I *believe* that some of the very early Pre-A watches may have used Pre-V cases, but the majority would have used Vendome cases which were exactly the same as the A series and beyond cases. Those would not have had the Pre-V/current Historic shaped CGs, which is what V's pieces are replicas of (not to mention the two-piece screws and other differences of the case shape itself).
  4. Nah, they're crap! Look at those skinny crowns and recessed canon pins. I'll give ya $500 for the pair.... DSN's PVD is the best out of the box PVD available. Now, sending your case off to Rolli or Avitt is a whole different matter. If you want a 009, I wouldn't use the V CG. Pre-A 009s with Pre-V cases were pretty rare, I believe.
  5. No idea, as I've never tried on a deep sea.
  6. Buy the 7750 powered watch and swap the bezel and dial (will have to mod the feet to fit the 7753) to your watch. Oh, and have it relumed.
  7. Get both! The 253/212/213 wear smaller than "normal" Luminors because of the 1950 style case, IMO. Good luck!
  8. DSN's Fiddy/217 crystal is the nicest one available. The "Officine Panerai" engraving on the movement bridges should be flipped on its head, so that it is "right side up" in the Destro configuration, but there's not much of a fix for that.
  9. The gen PAMs I've owned/currently own - PAM002D (sold); PAM210I (sold); PAM114E (current). I love the Historic line and wouldn't even consider the 104 compared to the 111. The only autos I would be after are the 024, the 196/188 or the 063/029/023 center-seconds GMTs. But in the end, it's all about what speaks to YOU.
  10. Why on earth would you be after something like that? It's completely wrong for the 111...
  11. Yes, the case should be 40mm and no, the 7750 isn't 40mm on its own. The "good" 40mm reps all used the A7750.
  12. No OEM white rubber strap, AFAIK. Could have been a gen PAM on an aftermarket strap, though.
  13. Limited production does not make it a Limited Edition. *Every* Panerai model is only made in a certain # of each unit per year. Check the Panerai website, there is a special section for the Limited Edition watches. The 051 is produced every year. They make a certain amount of units of each model every year. Just because they make a lower number of 051s is simply a matter of lower demand for that model as opposed to the 111, or any other model.
  14. He should have had it bead-blasted first, like on OEM PVD'd PAMs. The PVD doesn't look good over the top of the brushed finish, IMO. I'm not a fan...
  15. The PAM051 is not an LE. There were never any very good 049 reps. Unlike the 048 which was VERY accurate, the 049 had an hour hand that was *far* too short. I don't know if any of the 40mm reps came with bracelets, I can't remember seeing any.
  16. Congrats, G! I can't wait to see this bad boy once it's all put together. Should be a knock-out!
  17. That's right, it did, didn't it W? Jay added his gen 087 dial, though, didn't he?
  18. I believe UncleJay has one that sports a gen dial, even... Jay? You out there?
  19. Tutima, if you ever want to get rid of that brown KWong, just let me know.
  20. Looks great, Scotty! The gen dial makes all the difference in the world. Yep, a cape cod cloth should handle those scratches for ya.
