This sounds to me like a seller who doesn't know much about Rolex watches. He doesn't have his facts straight, and his photos are crappy, but that doesn't make the watch a fake. In fact some of his terms and conditions lead me to lean more toward legitimacy. He has a 100% feedback rating which in itself is nothing special, but the fact that he is limiting the sale to only UK buyers would lead me to believe that at least HE thinks the watch is OK. I would bet that if he sold a 300 dollar fake Rolex for a 10,000 dollar Rolex to someone down the road from him,the police would be knocking at his door!! I think most scammers want to get the watch as many time zones and countries away from them as possible. Just my Dos centavos Arthur

Boy,have the Tudor prices gone up!! I bid on one last night on Ebay, broken, parts watch, but had a nice case,crown, dial, and I think the movement wasn't trashed, just needed work. At any rate, I bid over 700, got home from the hospital to find that my bid was Waaay low. Sold for 1045.00. 5 years ago, I could have gotten a really nice working Tudor Sub for that price. unfortunately, those days are gone. Guess I'll have to try to do what youy did Red, build my own. Dial I'm sure is genuine, but it sure looks too "new" for a vintage sub. I wonder if the reason the case is "rounded' was from possibly some vigorous polishing to get rid of nicks and gouges.The dial could be a service dial that was installed at a later date, or it could be a parts watch that was put together with all genuine Rolex parts, but not necressarily the right ones. That's what could have happened with the crown, tube, bracelet clasp, etc. We have members who build "Frankens" all the time, why not a Rolex guy or a Rolex authorized watchsmith? Arthur

Lani, If you can get this one at a reasonable price, i would get it just for parts, but who knows it could be a really neat project. Get the dial refinished in a Hawaiian Motif and call it a Pearl Divingstar. or a HulaStar . It has a reasonable bezel (As vintage Doxas go) Case, crown, caseback, iffy bracelet, but they are repairable Would have to wonderif what ate the dial also ate the movement. I believe someone did this to the dial on purpose. Goood Luck Arthur

Ezz, We are always ready to help thiose who help themselves. The folks who get short answers and no responses are the fellows who appear here with 1 or 2 posts and ask questions like "Who has the best Sub" .Usually it's "I want to buy the very best Rolex" What sort of question is that? Does he want a Day Date, GMt, President, or a Lady Datejust to get in touch with his feminine side? MOst of the members here have done their research, read the reviews, and then if they can't find what they are looking for, they ask for help. I don't mind helping, and I 've received loads of help from other members. Bezzer, I'm not a big fan of TT Subs,Datejust, etc. Burt here is some things you may be able to use. If you will follow this link below and look at By-tors comments you will gain a little more insight as to the best TT SUB Having said this, I would say that the best TT Sub around is the WM9 16613 prioduced by George @ watchmaster9 problem is if you order now, it may be months before you get your watch, as they are just now shipping the first preorders. Here is a link to the WM9 website WM9 If you have problems getting in touch with Eurotimez, often their emails get caught by your spam filter.Go to their site here in the dealers section and shoot one of them a PM. You can PM Helina or Neo with your request or go to their website and order your watch. If they have the one that By-Tor recommends, it would be a good choice. Eurotimez has a drop ship arrangement with someone in the EU, so much less customs problems as your watch would be shipped to you from the UK or somewhere in the EU. Hope this helps Arthur

Man,that's a GREAT big order. Some really nice watches. if you can, I would get the dealer to split the order and stagger the shipping day by a couple of days. Customs might pounce on a shipment with 7 or 8 watches. I guess it all depends on the Customs office where the shipment arrives, but that's a big package with a lot of watches. One thing that you don't want to do is have a bunch of watches confiscated and your name and shipping address get red flagged by Customs. Believe me, you will never get anything through with out it being opened and checked.Send one package to your girlfriends address or your work address, but split and stagger the shipments. I was pretty inactive here for a couple of years, but back in 2006-7 the manufacturers (genuine) were kicking up a really big fuss and putting a lot of political pressure on Customs.It got really risky to even try to get a Rolex from China,Tiawan,Singapore, etc. The usual Ports of Entry such as San Francisco,Los Angeles and some said Anchorage were very risky. I really don't know what the situation here in the USA is now, but I would do everything possible to minimize the risk. Good Luck Arthur

This one is pretty beat up.Lord knows what happened to the dial!! looks like someone purposely stripped off all the Doxa logos, writing, etc. It's certainly a possibility if the price were low enough. The nice thing is the parts that are generally unobtanium are there, Case,Caseback Crown bezel, crystal. The dial can be either redone or a dial sourced. They are scarce, but they do come up on occasion. This could also be the start of an inspirational project, doing something completely different like Dr. Pete's Green Dialed "Irishstar" in his book. Guys, Gio has some great advice, don't take the risk. If you are a swimmer, poolside layabout or a recreational diver, the HEV is strictly for looks and conversation. It serves no useful purpose at at all, but it has the potential to be the failure point for your watch. Just because you put it in a pressure tester, and it's OK for 300 feet, doesn't account for moving around in the water, bumping against objects underwater, etc. There are enough other water ingress points to worry about with out this one. By-Tor, Your right, that's the date range. What is more unusual to me is that at the same time the 16760 was being produced, they were still making the 16750! This until around 1988 and then they re-introduced basically the same watch(Non-settable GMT function) as the 16700 and kept it in production until 1999. I suppose to satisfy the purist who didn't want that"new fangled" settable GMT function. I agree about the 16760, it was'nt in production for too many years,and it featured the fat case, can't see why they aren't more collectible. Arthur

@ By-Tor, i type too slow for you my man. I was typing and didn't see your thread right above this one.I'm sure your right, it's a 16760. Seller probably madwe a mistake, but easy to tell, just pop off the bracelet and look at the numbers. The open 6 is definitely the same as my GMT Master 16750. By-Tor is the resident GMT expert so I will certainly defer to him, but I sure thought the transition was 1675, 16750 which are GMT Masters 16760,16710 which are Master II's The basic difference was the 1675/16750 has a non-settable GMT hand and you use the bezel to track the 2nd time zone. The 16760/16710 added the ability to track a 3rd time zone with the settable GMT hand. I stand corrected if I'm wrong, but this may be a 16760 which was the earlier version of the GMT Master II. I would expect that the open 6 date wheel is correct for both the 16750 and the 16760, as they were both in production simultaneously for several years in the 1980,s Crack open the back, that will tell the tale. If this is indeed a genuine, and it certainly looks like it is, it's a steal at 2k. Good Luck Arthur

First of all this is a GMT Master II The 16750 was a GMT Master, not a Master II the hand stack looks correct for the model. My 16750 hans stack is top to bottom Seconds, minute, GMT, Hour. GMT II is the same Seconds, minute,GMT,Hour on most Reps the stack is seconds, Minute,Hour, GMT. Although there were some reps floating around that have a terrible correct hand stack movement. At the most, if the person selling the watch is selling it as a 16750, he doesn't know anything about Rolex GMT's. Here is what I would do before buying this watch, get several references from the seller on watch forums such as Watch NEt, Watch U Seek and Timezone. Second make certain you get a return privilage with enough time to let you take the watch to a reputable watchmaker who is KNOWLEDGABLE about Rolex watches, not the battery change station in the mall! Open the case and make certain it's a genuine Rolex movement.Buy the seller not the watch. Pay with Paypal or a credit card like AmEx, then if you have a problem, they can help, especially AmEx. Do not under any circumstance use Western Union,Moneybookers, Money Gram,etc. When it's with these services, you have no recourse. I just looked at a similar post to yours on WatchUseek, Guy buys a Rolex GMT II From a jeweler, posts photos, and about 7-8 replys from other members like WOW what a great watch, Looks great, yada,yada,yada. About the 8th post a Rolex guy posts, "Sorry to bust your bubble, but you bought a really nice Rolex Replica! Then a few other Rolex guys post and tell the poor sap all the things wrong with his watch including the Wrong hand stack, etc. Don't let this happen to you! If your buying a Replica, and it's priced as a replica, that's great, that's why we are all here, but if your shelling out several K for a genuine, then you Damm Well want a genuine.I'm not saying this one is a rep, it does look pretty good, but the first alarm bell would be the seller selling it as a 16750 when it's a 16710. @Jack, There's a gen on WatchU Seek for 7200.00 USD. Guy has been trying to sell it for several weeks now. Say's it's brand new with all the boxes, papers warranty card, etc. I agree, haven't seen any for 5k.May be able to get a"Hot" one for that @Lani, That was a great review, and very appreciated. I think ,like tech said, put a Eurotimez bezel insert on your baby, and it would be the "bomb" @tech I believe the problem with rep QC is, "there ain't no stinking QC!" Look at the problems Eurotimez is having with some of the DSSD "ultimates' that are just now hitting members hands. He makes a lot about QC, but the bad ones keep slipping through the cracks. I'm sure the "front office" folks mean well, but the problem isn't there, it's with the inexperienced, untrained workers who probably get a quick rush through and sit at a bench and look over a watch and possibly compare it to photos of what it's supposed to look like. I don't have a clue as to what their QC is really like , so I'm just speculating it is pretty rudimentary. Also I wonder sometimes if members who write reviews and have a lot of credibility get "hand picked" models wheras the rank and file get whatever comes off the assembly line next.Nothing wrong with that , lots of industries do the same thing. Seems as though I read somewhere here a few days ago, the WM9 Seadweller project had over 3000 watches preordered!! That is a huge number for a high quality rep. I ordered one around the first of November and in my Email from George, he said that the pre-order link was going to be taken off the web page, as there were so many already sold.I just visited the website, and I noticed the pre order link is still active, but the price has increased by 50.00 USD since I ordered, still it's 100.00 USD less than the final price will be. I'm hoping that techlogik misses the estimate mark by a bunch of months, but if you just ordered, don't waste your time sitting by your mailbox in March, waiting for a package from WM9. It would be wonderful if I was proven wrong, but considering this project is about a year behind schedule now, what's a few more months. I do know one thing, having gotten watches from George in the past, you won't be disappointed. Arthur

That watch is horrible!! Period, no excuses, no explanations. It should have never made it past the most rudimentary QC. There are el cheapo versions that are better than this one. If you opt for a replacement, I would stipulate,as they have offered, that they send high quality jpeg. Email images that you can look at on your computer and decide. I would insist on a face on view, with the watch 100% sguare to the camera, no slight angles up, down side to side, straight!! That is the only way that you can tell whether or not it's off.Other option would be a refund. Sending you the correct parts to fix a defect shouldn't even be and option to them. All that does is shift the problem to you. If you are not someone who is comfortable disassembling watches and replacing parts, you will have to incur the added expense of sending it off to someone and spend more money making it into something that it should have been from the beginning. This would be my case. I can adjust bracelets, take off bracelets,etc. but don't have the knowledge, tools or time to work on the "innards". If I send one off, it would be to fix specific problems, such as poor lume, or to have the movement cleaned and regulated or replace rep parts with genuine. I have one on the way, should be in almost any day now and It will be very carefully scrutinized, I assure you, as mine had some bezel alignment problems that were fixed before shipping. I realize that Eurotimez is shipping huindreds of watches a month, and QC is a constant problem, until and unless the QC personnel are trained to spot problems before they get to the customer. If a watch gets caught in QC and is corrected or replaced before shippng, it's a QC problem solved with the customer never involved. If it gets shipped out, now the QC problem has grown to a QC as well as a customer relations and credibility problem. I believe that unfortunately, Eurotimez is rapidly approaching the point where their QC problems are morphing into Credibility issues with members of the forum.That's too bad, because I believe that by and large they are trying to produce quality products.What they need to learn however, is folks are really not interested in excuses and platitudes, they simply want what they bought and were promised it would be. Between those two, Hard choice. Do you want the newest and possibly one of the most correct reps out there, except for the cyclops reflections which are very annoying and a tell tale flaw.IF I didn't have a genuine GMT Master 16750, I would probably start with the older "Coke" versoion and add the Ceramic later. Another consideration is the movements. If either is a so called Correct hand stack model, avoid it at all costs. It's a very, very unreliable movement and unfixable if it breaks. Probably the best movement out there is the ETA 2836-2. It is a WHS (Wrong hand stack). But unless you compare the watches to a genuine side by side, 99.99999% of the folks in the world would not be able to tell the difference. By-Tor has written very good reviews on the GMT's they will answer a lot of your questions. Good Luck, either is a nice choice provided they have the right movement. Arthur

I have looked at the Franck Muller "Crazy Hours" time and time agan, but it just never resonated enough to buy one. One reason is I have had several genuine and rep watches in Tonneau Cases, and the rectangular look just isn't for me. I admit, after seeing the Lume job that The Zigmeister did on that Crazy Hours. I'm tempted, but more interesting projects lie ahead. Arthur

Man, this is a treasure trove of Rolex parts, unfortunately, if it sells as expected, it will take a lot of cash to take the parts drawers home! Interesting to see how these watch auctions hold up in the face of tougher economic times worldwide.I've watched a few of the classic auto auctions over the past year, the really rare cars in pristine concours condition are still selling pretty well, but the average ones aren't meeting the reserve in lots of cases. I guess there just insn't as much free cash floating around these days. Arthur

I just had a look at the DSSD on joshua's site. I see a couple of differences from the genuine.One, the hour idicies look like the top 1/3 of a cue ball, the indicies on the genuine are flat on top, the other difference that I could see is the case back is "Stepped" the genuine doesn't have a step where the outer ring fits.When the caseback is assembled it is less noticable, but it is different enough that someone who has seen the genuine could tell the difference. The indicies are the biggest difference to me as they are right up there out front and very notiicable. I'm not tooting the horn of Eurotimez, but their version is better, provided they can solve the problem of the dial printing not being aligned properly. If you look at some of the recent posts about the DSSD (and there are quite a few) you will see what I'm talking about. Good Luck Arthur

Mercury, Did you read this review By-Tor's GMT 11 Review I have a GMTII with the Swiss ETA 2836-2 movement, and I'm very satisfied with it. It's keeping time at the rate of 1-2 Sec fast per day. I believe that as long as you stay away from the so called Correct hand stack movements you will be OK,I will certainly defer to some of he more knowledgable experts on this forum if I'm wrong. It's a great watch. In fact the ONLY flaw that I see is the non AR coated Cyclops. It is very reflective and sometines the date is hard to see. It's a dead giveaway if you held one up next to a genuine., also, I'm not too happy with the lume, it glows great after a charge, but fades rapidly and is gone in a few minutes. I'm hoping that I can source a crystal with AR on the cyclops and send mine off to get a crystal change and a re-lume. Good Luck Arthur
