  1. My point was simply that a $5k + GEN should have a much more considerable QC than a $350 Rep... esp. considering that the rep is REALLY a $50 equivalent (most times) before mark up, etc. (according to what I've read here). COSC testing requires much more of a timepiece than any of our reps get. And yet, it's obvious by a visit to my AD that bad GENS still sneak by. All I was saying is that if $5000 gens have issues, then I don't see the point in complaining about something that's a tenth of the price when it goes [censored] up. Sure... if it's DOA, then contact your dealer. If something is HORRIBLY wrong, then contact your dealer... but if something is a little off, or you're not happy b/c it's not a 100% REP, then go buy a GEN.... and you STILL roll the dice. Happy watch collecting!
  2. Indeed it does, and that was the intent of my post. I LOVE my gens, but I'm worried about them now that I've seen the flyback reset issues. And for $5-8k, I expect them to have better QC. My father had similar issues with the one of the hour markers falling off his GEN Datejust. Oh well.... Caveat Emptor, no?
  3. I am a HUGE Breitling fan... I have three GEN Breitlings, and I frequent my local AD to browse and see the real deals so that I can mentally compare later. I handled a Bentley Motors and a Bentley Motors GT, as well as a pre-owned 6.75. The pre-owned 6.75 worked well, but the flyback wouldn't... well... flyback. The pusher did NOTHING. Same goes for the NEW Bentley Motors and the NEW GT. !!! WOW !!! I was shocked! I've always enjoyed Breitling's value and quality (QC especially.. NEVER had a problem with ANY of mine) so it was surprising to see issues in NEW and USED watches. So, ease up on some of our dealers... if a 7.5k GEN has issues, I won't complain too much about a $350 rep if it has issues.
  4. Just a heads up.... Maybe some of you look around for this stuff, maybe you've already seen it. But I'm still a NOOB, and I thought it might help someone in their quest for the " perfect " Rollie rep. http://www.preownedrolex.com/html/accessories.htm LOTS of parts on that page.
  5. A GEN SA case is polished, not brushed. GEN SA bracelet has polished links with the center a matte finish. The B-winged logo on the dial is a separate, polished emblem, not printed on the dial. The dial print is not crisp. Mine says Breitling then 1884 underneath that, then Chronometre in all caps, then Automatic underneath that, in italics. Finally, the top register of the chrono is missing the red tick marks. Date font is WAAAY off. And that's just at a glance. Hope this helps.
  6. The dial, case material, and size (44 vs 49 ) are all different. I have a GEN Super Avenger and ANYONE that's seen a real one would spot that one. Still looks like a nice rep.
  7. For what it's worth I love my gen SA.
  8. Just staring at it in the sunlight coming through our office window and I can just BARELY make out a purplish hue. Not blue... purplish. And this is a GEN, not a REP. But I see what you're talking about now. I've always enjoyed that you can see straight through the crystal.
  9. I'm not sure what you guys are talking about in regards to any sort of tint on the watch. I'm staring at my GEN Super Avenger right now, and there isn't ANY visible tint straight on or at a slight at angle. At extreme angles, you can still see straight through the crystal. THAT is what gives away a Breitling rep for me... if you see a reflection (remember, they're AR'd on BOTH sides on the gens) you know it's not a gen.
  10. Thanks so much for the recommendation! I appreciate your help! Anyone else?
  11. I've searched and read and searched and read. I've checked RWG, RC, and now.... RWG.CC. I need some OPINION further than what I've read. I'm interested in BOTH, the TT and SS Santos 100. Who has the best version? Why? Opinions are welcome and desired. Thanks in advance!
