  1. Dingos are wild dogs native to Australia. Have a good holiday and best wishes for the CNY
  2. ' Josh's has a somewhat flat appearance while Andrew's appears rounded. I think that Andrew's is the better of the two. However, if you have difficulty seeing the difference, it really isn't an issue for concern.
  3. I'm not sure that it will make a great deal of difference. FWIW, I have always heard and said 1-66-10.
  4. Depression era sensibilities? He is 60 years old which would make him born in 1947. The depression era was in the early 1930s and the economy was recovering by the end of that decade. Your pop is a member of the baby boom generation which arrived during and after WWII. He grew up in one of the most prosperous eras in recent history, the 1950s. Perhaps his depression era values were implanted by his parents who would have experienced the depression. Regardless, it is good that he can appreciate a nice Rolex replica gifted by his thoughtful son.
  5. You will have to remove the crystal to correct this problem. It really isn't that difficult....here is how: Read Edge's sticky at the top of the page on how to disassemble a sub (everything here applies to a YM as well). Before you start, mark the exact location on the bezel with tape where you want the cyclops and etched crown to be. Once the watch is apart. place the crystal and align the cyclops with your tape markers. Press in the crystal as Edge describes (you most likely will not need a crystal press for this). Good luck!
  6. First: Datejust two tone From: Josh Watched damaged 3 months ago Now disassembled, waiting for parts to restore
  7. I decided against going the online route with Western Union and went to a local agent. I saved $10 US by doing this and it was swift and easy since that the agent is only a couple of miles away. I learned that private agents of WU can set their own rates for service so your prices may vary.
  8. It is difficult to determine from EL's site but I see that Joshua's watch has solid gold mid links on the bracelet. If EL's watch has plated or wrapped mid links that might explain the price difference. Also, perhaps the movement in Joshua's watch is more expensive than the EL movement. I must agree with all who said that both are well respected dealers. However, Joshua has a sterling reputation for customer service that few dealers can equal. He does what he does very well. My personal experience with Joshua confirms this.
  9. This is good information to know. I will try this soon on a project watch that I will be putting together. One question......Will the added thickness of the gen 3135 datewheel create any difficulties such as raising the dial high enough to affect hour hand placement?
  10. I don't know who your dealer is but, the interior of that clam shell cover looks as though it needs a good cleaning . I did check with a couple of the recommended dealers and although the case back is much cleaner, it showed the same "engine turned" finish. It will take some serious polishing to remove that finish. I would suggest that you contact a dealer from the dealer section and request a special order without the engine turned finsih.
  11. If it was shipped on the 9th you shouldn't worry about it. It normally requires 8 to 10 days for a package to get to me in the US. Most of the time, I receive the package before the information is posted on the tracking site so, I really don't pay much attention to it. I know it is difficult but, give it a little more time and try to relax. I will arrive and you will be pleased.
  12. www.julesborel.com has them at a reasonable price. BTW, where did you find your overlay? Does it have closed 6s and 9s?
  13. Thanks for the offer Rolly...PM sent
  14. Holy Begeezus! Hope you invested in some proper tools!
  15. I acquired a genuine Rolex 7mm triple lock crown recently. I would like to use it on my Sub rep but, I will need the proper tube to accomplish this. The crown is Rolex #488, does anyone have a reference that would provide the correct matching tube? My intent is to purchase a generic tube if possible.
  16. I had the same difficulty locating the screws as well as the case clamps. After calling Otto Frei and talking to Bob the problem was easily solved. The item number that you need is WM-1.8 (case clamp screw for Eta). The price was $1.80 each
  17. Have a look at the Omega Aqua Terra offered by Perfect Clones with the Eta movement. It is very close to the gen particularly with the white pearl dial.
  18. A common affliction it is indeed! I find myself doing this even while watching TV or a movie. My wife should read this thread because she thinks I am the only person on earth who does this.
  19. Check Ebay, there are always a few offered. Most do not go for cheap.
  20. This so called crack down may be just so much political rhetoric used to impress those companies that have expressed great concern about the counterfeiting their goods. The export of the "illegal" goods represents a substantial percentage of the Chinese GNP so, they aren't likely to do much more than a cursive look at these operations. This will satisfy any obligation under the trade agreement and it will be business as usual before long. This however is only my opinion. I would be most interested to hear from our dealers as to what impact if any this trade agreement might have on the watch trade.
  21. To each his own! It is good that we have as many good choices as we do
  22. The one of the best rolesium dials that I have seen is Andrew's "perfect" model. The applicaction of metal fleck is well done with no yellowing or discolortion as seen on some other offerings. The entire watch seems to be of better quality than most others. With it's better case, dial, nickel ETA movement, and tight fitting bezel (many other reps are known to have loose bezels), it is about as good a YM as you will find on the current market. This watch is a bit more expensive than the one that you are looking at but, the difference will justify the extra cost.
  23. EMS out of China is notorious for late postings. I have received parcels before EMS tracking has shown it arriving in the US. Waiting is a real pain sometimes. I check EMS tracking to verify that it is in transit and them try to forget about it. Rest assured that your package is on it's way.
  24. IMHO, to renege on an agreed upon transaction is unethical. Particularly after money has been exchanged to confirm the deal. This is like accepting an invitation and then accepting a second invitation with greater appeal. Simply rude and less than honorable behavior.
