  1. Hello RWG, This is a unexpected project on my side... Dvn just sold his Day-Date in parts and you know what ? I think I am the new owner of these parts :-) Including a case with no engravings, a 16000 back case, and an awesome 1556 caliber to fit in. But... I do not like a case with no engraving... -- After some researches, I've found this : http://catalog.antiquorum.com/catalog.html?action=load&lotid=37&auctionid=31 What ? A SS 6611 with a 1556 cal. from 1959 ? Sounds very good to me... After some researches, I also found this interesting thread, with a photo of a SS 6611 case back : http://orologi.forumfree.it/?t=55737470 In your opinion, is it genuine or not ? So, I have sent the middle case and the case back to Phong for engraving A new case back will be stamped for me -- My question is - what should be engraved on the case, and stamped to the case-back ? I've also seen there is 2 models of 6611 in the market. 6611, and 6611B. The difference seems to be about the caliber (1055 vs 1055B), but here, we are talking about a 1556. So, is 6611 better in my case ? Well, to be honest, I don't really know what to engrave on the case & the case back About the case, my concerns are : - Model 6611, or 6611B ? - Does this watch should have "Registered Design" engraved, since it's not a production model ? - Is yes, should the "Registered Design" be on the top of the model number, or the bottom ? About the case back, my concerns are : - Model 6611, or 6611B ? - Should I request the "Patented" engraving, since it's not a production model ? - Should I request the engraving of the S/N on the case back ? Or only the 3 ending numbers ? I am currently not a Day-Date expert, especially when we are talking about a prototype... Any advice on this project will be very much appreciated ! Cheers R.
  2. One gen black dial here : http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rolex-Daytona-Black-Original-Dial-Ref-6263-6265-Vintage-Circa-1970s-Red-/120847038545?pt=Wristwatches&hash=item1c230b7851#ht_500wt_1057 Only if you like the vintage tritium dials But located in the USA, means probably VAT at the end
  3. Better photos on your side will be great to see if there is any difference ;-) And if there is not so much differences, your left dial is probably the "best" rep dial you can have these days, for sure :-)
  4. Same here, the dial at the left looks better, the fonts on the right dial are a way too bold / fat I probably will have my silver DW dial for sale "soon" (expect 1month), because I will swap for gen dial If it's interest you... It's probably the best aftermarket dial I've seen Reminder : R.
  5. Thanks E. for the link, very impressive, but I keep my babies at home And I will never sold this on eBay as a gen anyways
  6. Not a chance, Unless someone used my photos to scam... Don't hesitate to PM me if you find something strange
  7. No problem We are just comparing opinions Personally, I do not see so much difference about crown height. It's maybe my eyes... But talking about the CG's, the Sean case looks better. BK/WM9 quality about CG's seems to not be constant (on the maybe 10 I've seen for sell these last months), and the CG's on the Sean case seems (again, to me) better finished. The crown looks better positioned into the CG's also on the Sean case. It's just a feeling, but - IMHO - a close comparison will be great for the entire community (who have the best sub bla bla etc. You know the song ) R.
  8. I have not answered yet, I will let you know once I know !
  9. Thank you JJ About Steven - I had the contact with him after sending an e-mail on the DW website... He is always the same guy, but he do not answer so much About DW himself, I don't really know, I had my first "contact" today R.
  10. ...except for the end-user who don't really care about the movement in. A fake chinese copy of Rolex mov., or a fake chinese or swiss eta ? Who cares if the crown/tube position is good not so bad ? I think you will never put a $$$ gen 3135 into it, so the "it takes gen movement" is not really an argument And, sorry if comparison between two "good" fakes sounds weird to you - to me, it doesn't at all
  11. Congrats, it will be a great project ! I cannot agree more with you I think we have the same disease about building watches !
  12. He replied me today, I will do that Thanks again for the emails
  13. I think it will be very interesting to compare the case with a BK / WM9 v2 or v3 Just shoot me a PM if you want me to take some photos of mine for comparison side by side (v3 with gen crystal, crown, tube, pearl)
  14. Hello JJ, good to have some news Yuki seems to be a good idea I will buy 1 or 2 sets from DW - the last set I had was not bad at all, and a set from Phong for comparison. Will try Yuki if the future sets are not convincing me I think I will "mix" the sets, depending of the quality of each hand. It's quite cheap, so, why not... About the building - I have (finally) found a WM in Paris; he seems to be good (he builds the two watches here) and he knows about Rolex These 2 projects was not so easy to do, and the result is pretty convincing for the moment, apart some light details ! We'll see for the future... About that - if you are still interested to work on my Daytos, I might be interested - just let me know if you have some time, you looked busy the last time R. That's a good idea ! Steven just ignored me when I asked photos (maybe 4 or 5 times...) before sending...
  15. Not now, but why do you need that ? ...only for one bezel, recently bought from service... Anyway, the "110" and the typo on aftermarket are the "real tell" to me To be honest, I really prefer when there is a distance between the inner and the markings ! I will be curious to see how much number of these bezel are on the market... must be interesting And of course, it is gen, there is absolutely no doubt on this point as I've seen it fully packed into the well-known Rolex packaging from service It tooks me like 20min to "extract" the bezel from it's plastic box without damaging it ! You are right, and you are wrong Right because I will not use a v72 into my builds, I prefer the 726 so much that I decided to make only 6263 and 6265 for now And wrong because the white dial / black bezel will go on my 6263; already viewed here. The black dial - with gen hands -, and the metal bezel will go on my future 6265. The 2nd 726 is already here, and the case will be here very soon
  16. But in this way, I can't use my chrono as much as I want... And I'm not building Daytona's to do not use the chronometer So I'm looking for better quality hands
  17. No it is not, it was bought from one of our valuable member wiesn089 one month ago, 100% sealed in Rolex service plastic box. It's a MKIV, to be clear. 2 photos of the bezel sealed, and 1 better photo to see it (just look at this amazing typo) Trust me, there is no way this bezel is aftermarket R.
  18. Thanks mate ! I am too... I have bought the non-Oyster dial just because it's impossible to find a silver / oyster dial these days But you already know that...
  19. Thank you very much for the link My current WM have used epoxy glue to fix the seconds chrono hand. He do not used epoxy for the subdial hands on this watch (it was done on my other Daytona), this is why there is so much slipping. It's not a big deal, even if I do not like so much the idea to glue the hands... That is not the problem, the real problem on the (bad) photo I took is the hand is bent as hell, due to a reset of the chrono And this is definitely not recoverable
  20. Hello RWG ! I take a bit of free time to share with you my current parts waiting another parts to be mount... Too bad, I can't do anything as I have not received my other parts now... Hands set... And a new Phong case-set (the first one was lost 2 months ago, thanks to USPS !) Thanks again to T. and S. that were true gentlemen's to deal with for two of these parts ! Please enjoy the few pics : Cheers ! R.
  21. About Daytona hands, if you have good tips about quality hands set... : As you can see, I'm not a big fan of the quality of my current hands... The V726 reset seems to be a little... harder than the V72... Plus my current DW hands are slipping a lot ! I'll try the Phong hands, but I don't know so much about the best way to choose about hands R.
  22. I only have the sldwXXXX@ymail.com e-mail ! Don't know if there is a second e-mail to use to contact him...!
  23. For a 6263/5 with Valjoux 72(6), so it will not fit... Thanks you anyways
