  1. No need for expensive boxes... Go to a hardware store. You'll surely find a 8 or 10 or more placed boxes... yeah similar to watch boxes. less than $10 but. raw. then take it to a leathersmith or a tailor. pay around $10-15, make inside the box covered and pillows made than you have a nice watchbox. why give big money on ready watch boxes? money should be saved for new watches my .02
  2. Yeah, ditto that. One of the worst ddials I've ever seen... and on the other hand, within close inspection DSN Fiddy (I just inspected a fiddy of him, I cannot talk on his other watches) That has many marks on the dial. prints and very small hairlines... On the back plates of the movt too... Like an unexperienced watchsmith took apart the watch than remounted it... and many say he doesn't drop ship, he ships personally... well, if this is personal shipping, then screw personal shipping so I'm wondering like chad too... what are you guys thinking buying this stuff....
  3. I remove scratches from silver & gold hands by cape cod. but if the hand is plated or painted. cape cod will remove the outer layer...
  4. I'm not very keen on chrono watches and don't have any A7750 watch except for Panerai 187... But I noticed that everyone is mentioning about slipping chrono hands... but, I can't get the point. If chrono hand slips; You open the watch. Align chrono hand. close the watch. (this only should take a few minutes) Yup I know working with a watch may take hours but this is a very simple operation... We won't take apart the movt, remove the dial, remove hands etc... We will just remove case-back, remove movement head, align hand, do reverse -- we are done. (or if you are not capable of this, any watchsmith should do it in minutes?) So why is it a big frightening issue? Or am I missing something? What happens after this? as soon as you push the chrono button, does minute hand slip again after alignment?
  5. Instead of writing Tourbillon on the dial, they should have found a way to show it on the dial... The "TOURBILLON" engraving is SILLY... What is the trick of a tourbillon movement if I can't see it moving on my wrist? -- On the other hand, I think same for 190 (8days) Instead of writing 8 DAYS on the dial, they should have found a way to put a power reserve indicator on the dial... IMHO, Panerai is ONLY good on their plain watches with workhorse unitas movements, and with their submersibles... Rest of the line is FUGLY.
  6. Thank you Pugwash. Which one I like? Uhmm.. I'd love to take catalog-like photos which shows watch completely... For ex. on Paneristi, in reference section, can you check 127 fiddy photos? First 2 photos... Those are perfect examples that I'd love to do or another quick example. From the other topic on this area, wrist check... a photo of maximillian. IWC Inge. http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o227/ma...mn/PA060666.jpg
  7. I'm lurking on gen. forums and seeing their photos are extemely good comparing with our photos... Much professional and perfect lighting etc, Easily may be published on maganizes... (but on rep forums; except for a few guys, the photos look very amateurish, including my photos too) Are their cameras better than our cameras too? Or are they better photographers than us? Or what else? And... What is the criteria about taking good photos? I've got an adequate camera with 3.2 megapixels... Whatever I tried (the white box, external light etc) I CAN'T take perfect photos like the ones I see on gen. watch forums taken by gen watch forum members... I just think this is because they use very expensive cameras... I can't think of anything else... So anyway, which speciality of the camera is the most important part for photo taking? Megapixels? Or special lenses? or what else? If I use a 10megapixel camera, will my photos be better? Or is there any other criteria? I'm looking to get a new camera and taking watch photos will be one of the major things I'll do with my camera... Your opinions please.
  8. If the hands are not painted. I use cape cod. Golden or silver hands ALWAYS come with minor/major smudged and scratched... no way to avoid.
  9. I'd checked with Azimuth bombardier too but I decided that the trick of Big Pilot is the 8days in-house IWC movement. If the gen has a unitas movement for example, that watch would never take my attention. I'll get a gen. in some day... at least I hope so.
  10. I'd get the gen... no doubt.
  11. For Pams... Swiss Unitas is a workhorse movement so no worries here as long as your watch is a swiss unitas... and if you have Asian unitas, if it breaks... no worries, it won't fail completely. you can still buy a swiss raw unitas movt for less than $80. your watchsmith can take parts from new movt and add it to your broken movement But on the other hand, I don't think same about A7750's if they last 10 years. that would be great. IMHO.
  12. Panerai is now an icon within replicas nowadays... Nearly everyone in replica watches has 1 (or more) Panerais. So Panerais are out of question for now. It is very easy to spot a fake panerai even with additional mods... I bet there aren't many people who can directly tell if an *Omega Railmaster (regular size) is fake or not from someone else's wrist... * Brand and watch are random, replace it with other less popular brands among replicas than Panerai.
  13. this is the problem buddy: Linux is not a user friendly and proffesionally supported OS... If something goes wrong with Linux, you'll have to solve it yourself or ask your friend about it... In the end you are on your own with your Linux... Or you'll have to hire 3rd party system admins to maintain your Linux... And if they do something wrong to your system, there is no one to blame, you are on your own again. You cannot get a clean, easy, professional support with 1 phone call like from MS.
  14. I'm a fellow customer of Josh and will continue buying from him... anyway; 1. who else give fast/polite/meaningful replies to your emails? 2. who else accept fast/secure cc payment? 3. who else ships fast? If you offer a guy who does the above. I'm ready to buy from there also... Prices... OK they are a little higher but I don't mind... US Dollar is at its weakest nowadays... I'm also selling products to USA (nothing about watches, I have tailorship company, we export raw and pre-worked fabrics to abroad), I have no choice to raise my prices in USD range... no option. My production cost remains same, but my income gets lower since it is USD... so I have no choice to raise my prices even that makes US dollar payers unhappy... So I don't blame any seller who is raising their prices in US dollar fund type... Lie about BR? I don't care, that's the problem of who bought those BR's without seeing the photo of the movement... I didn't... I never buy a watch without seeing the photo of the movement. even from my father... And on the other hand I've bought several times from Josh, some of the deals went sour. but Josh didn't down me even a single time, he accepted any product that is with problems, refunded or compansated... So I'm happy with his service... my .02
  15. lume is too yellow. and for me, the curve of the front crystal is wrong. dial is wrong. -- movement looks good. anyway, I've owned / inspected different "best" fiddies from different sellers, but I haven't seen any better fiddy than EL's ultimate fiddy (but it had its own problems, movement was looking extremely good but problematic)
  16. It is possible on base models... I have made it on my 249... But it is nearly impossible on models with second hand on 9(or 3) either minute hand crashes with second hand, or hands should look raised.
  17. one word; Karma If you nail someone, that nailing will return to you in some other way in the future. my .02
  18. I invited a girl to my place last night... after the intercourse , she was taking a tour in my house and saw the watch case... she asked if she can take a look at my watches. I agreed... I've bot gens and reps. my only high end gen is rolex submariner. other gens are low end (sinn, seiko, etc) and I've got some very nice modded reps... She was influenced until she saw the Submariner... She asked me if these are fake, She told me I'm not a genuine Rolex owner type... what an ironical situation isn't it? I asked her why? She said that rolex must be $50000 or something, How could a man like me afford that watch? I told her the correct price, but she didn't seem to understand anyway; I think people are thinking some brands are excessively expensive... rolex, omega, breitling... and most other commons. -- and on the other hand, please check gen forums... They sometimes post photos etc. Those guys don't look extraordinary rich from their attitude, clothes etc... There was a funny Asian guy with cheapo trousers and a simple white shirt with a gen 203 on his wrist. so I don't agree the "you should look like a richie rich guy to make people believe your rep is gen" phase...
  19. Although I'd never give a $500 or more for a piece of steel, they have historical value... come on, even a 10minute worked hand made strap is being sold over $100 around everywhere... if a buckle is more than 30years old and have historical value... what do you expect? should they sell for $20?
  20. Absolutely agree. Price ratio is not importmant for me. At least mostly... I compare the uniqueness of the watch and the technical/finishing quality... I'm keen on giving $10k to a gen IWC Big Pilot, but I'd never give the same money to a gen Panerai 127... never. ever. a best rep pam 127 with required modifications is more than enough for me. On the other hand; gens must be inspected or owned for some time in order to compare... and I'm not talking about Panerai, Rolex and Omega... When you inspect closely or own a higher grade watch (Audemars Piguet, Vacheron Constantin or expensiver IWC's etc) you feel reps are astonishing compared to these brands... at least it was so for me... This doesn't mean much... I have a Russian pocket watch that I bought below $20... It keeps perfect time... So what?
  21. no this is not the case. I wrote things that bug me about replicas, and just wanted to know if I'm the only one or are there any other people that have same unhappiness about replicas... Yeah I respect it but what is the point of replying someone's topic if you don't care about him or the things he is mentioning? and BTW, this wasn't a post of "I'm leaving guys byeeeeeeee"... On the other hand, thanks for the other comments, and TTK's advice is appriciated, thank you.
  22. I've come to an end for replicas... The main reason behind this is the faults I'm tired of seeing on the replicas I buy... I'll try to explain and try to be as brief as possible. 1. Very small cracks and scratches or painting problems on the dial. 2. Very Small cracks, scratches or deformations of the paint on the hands. 3. Misaligned hands. (they don't meet up on %100 12) hope you get what I mean. 4. Raised hands (the main reason we use cannon upgrades) 5. Misaligned chrono hands These faults cannot be seen clearly sometime, you'll have to inspect the watch closely... dealers claim even the $15000 watch can have these problems... no. NO... at least MOSTLY NO. that's not true, you can only cheat some one that have never owned/inspected gen watches 6. Dust, oil or some deformations on dials, hands (inside the watch) 7. Deformations on the fonts of the watch (I don't mean wrong font thing, for example there is a line on the "L SWISS L" on my 111 in the middle) Yeah, these deformations can be corrected some how and dealers are helpful, but I'm very tired of the situation... You pay for a watch... You wait it anxiously arrive from another part of the world for days... Your parcel finally arrives, You open the package, you smile, You inspect the watch quickly, You find something, There is a f* big disappointment, The watch you bought brand new MUST BE OPENED AND PARTED to correct the fault, most likely you'll have to wait for some spare parts etc... For me, it happens too much for the last months, maybe my bad luck... There is another interesting situation. On cheap watches, there aren't these faults. for example my $130 omega railmaster XXL has no faults that are mentioned above but All watches they are advertised as high, have these faults... Latest problem is 249 arrived to me with some deformations on the painted hands, and a very small paint difference on the dial... nothing big, I can never show it on photos, it is just seen under direct midday sun or a glass lamp... but I know they are there and it BUGS me... The idea I've for the problem is: cheaper watches are mounted by machines... so no inperfection problems... but expensiver watches are mounted by hand... and ignorant/cheap hands... so even the movement/case etc is very good, there are f* inperfections due to poor watchsmithy/quality control... And I don't accept this phase: "you cannot expect good quality control for just a $350 watch..." no mates. yes $350 might be a funny price compared to $10000... but it isn't a small price itself... get yourself a $60 swatch. compare it with your replicas. that damned swatch has much better details/quality control and less faulty than our $200-1000 watches... (pls don't tell me "get yourself a swatch then", pls try to understand what I mean here, the brand swatch is not important here ) I believe these watches are put together for $20-30 or maximum $70-80, and sold to us for more than $300-400... geez... This is my observation. So at this point. I've come to an end for replicas... I'll get a few final replicas. omega railmaster regular, omega planet ocean, panerai ferrari 008, and a panerai 187 (if it ever happens a very good swiss version in the future) than it is over. I'll focus on modifying/upgrading what's already in my hand, and GENS... What do you think about the problems I've mentioned above? Does them bug only me?
  23. All right. Fiddy is waiting for his older brother To be honest, I love those golden hands... All right, elder brother joins in and 1950 meets 1936 after all. We quickly strap him on Those hands are B-L-U-E Well, I'm amazed with this watch... 249 is my daily beater now. At least for a long time His younger brother Fiddy will get some rest within the stable. After all he was the daily beater for a few last months... Here is a quick wrist shot.
