  1. Nice to see it come together after all! Looks great! Wear it well! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Dave, the MM is tricky. I have one of the old ones. The problem is, it's not a V72 nor a V23 copy. It's not a copy of any known Lemania either. Even though the subdial layout is V23 like. Mine was working fine - then I snapped the stem and was never able to find a replacement. Genuine V72 stem, V23 stem - both didn't fit. Other than that the movement looks ok. I'm not sure all keyless parts are still there though. Let me know if you are interested in it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  4. A while a go, my (by now) good friend Ogladio contacted me about a bezel swap on his 1675 Franken. To cut a long story short - the watch was a mess... The case was based on a 5513, the DWO was misaligned, the dial and movement were glued into the case, because the genuine dial was narrower than the rehaut. "Forward is the battle cry" Genuine 1675 parts are cheap and easy to come by (everyone knows that). So...a genuine case, case back, insert, crown, tube, plexi and bracelet later - I present Ogladio's new 1675: That's it... PS: The dial feet were already cut when Ogladio bought the original Franken - so F off!
  5. Aftermarket and EU preferred! Anyone got a spare?
  6. I think the 16610 is way more accurate than your 1665. If you plan to keep it - I'd suggest to get a genuine insert with a pearl that was actually made for the 1665. Also the lugs are way too thick and the crown doesn't look like a period correct 702 from that picture. One question though - why do you use the term gen to describe genuine Rolex parts and why do you also use it to describe ETA parts? Isn't that confusing? Aren't TC's parts also gen TC parts? 7. Me too, even though I'm normally a 100% steel bracelet guy.
  8. Thanks for the compliments. I too think it turned out very well and HH's case is just amazing!
  9. The 5514 Rolex Comex with ft first matte dial is a rare and special watch. Supplied for Comex divers without a Comex branded dial, kind of a prototype and the first watch delivered to Comex by Rolex. I love Subs...vintage that is. What's more to say about it? When I've heard the parts list for the build, I imagined something special. Had I anticipated something that nice? No! Parts? Someone said parts? Parts, parts, parts... HH 5514 case Athaya 7020 tube Athaya pearl Eta 2846 Genuine 24-702 Genuine Tudor hands Genuine mid font insert Genuine service dome T19 Genuine ft first matte dial The bracelet is my Yuki 7206 and not a perfect nor periodically correct fit. Just used for the shoot. Some mods and tweaks by myself and voila: Who can guess the owner? Thanks for your attention! A
  10. Thats true...100 relumes from now they might be totally accurate in shape, but looking on my wrist I have to say they look pretty, pretty sharp. I might have terrible eyesight though
  11. Update: This is now good enough for me 6x lense plus zoom 20x lense Perfect? Maybe not... but very close to the naked eyes.
  12. Looks pretty good too from that resolution. Definitely an improvement! Does it glow?
  13. I wouldn't mind knowing Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Thanks for the comments. I appreciate the input and suggestions! I'm well aware how it's still different to original Tritium lume, but after hours and hours of trying I wouldn't know how to replicate the look at 100%. Do you? Who does? I've yet to come by a relume job that is undistinguishable to the real deal - the closest I've seen is probably from The Zigmeister (which I have not seen through a 20x lense though) But who knows what he uses/used? Btw, Freddy - it's not glowing at all. Cheers, A
  15. I've been around luming for a bit now and a few things always bothered me a little... Luming needs a lot of practice - so it's natural that the first relumes will look like... However, 1. I often see topics, sales thread with watches advertised as "puffy lume mod" - more often than not, it's just clumsy applied lume! How many of those old vintages really have that style of lume? Many just have flat, sometimes slightly raised lume dots. 2. Real Rolex Tritium lume binder is 100% matte - that's something that's very hard to archive as you need a good binder Many people use clear vanish that still has a light gloss to it - an instant tell for me 3. The binder has completely dried out, without looking hard - too often the relume looks like dried paint 4. Original Rolex lume has an unique texture I found all these points/faults within my own lume/binder mixture at some stage of my learning curve. So, I decided to try out new stuff...change is good! Luckily I have a genuine 5513 matte dial and genuine 1675 matte dial with original Tritium at my place at the moment, to take as much inspiration as possible. A few gen pics for reference After various mixtures, try-outs after try-out, I have found a mix I feel comfortable to relume my own watches with. I probably won't come closer to the look of the real thing... 6x lense 20x lense I'd appreciate your input! Does it look good? Better? Worse? Looking forward to your replies! A
  16. I have built a Dj 1600 with gen 160x case gen 160x dial gen bezel gen plexi gen 24-600 Eta 2879 Clarks hands for less than $1000. So the question is if you think that having an old 1570 is worth more than $1000 to you.
  17. Happy birthday mate! I hope you're having a wonderful day!
  18. Panerai doesn't need to defend himself. I understand what he meant, but I'm trying to offer a different perspective. I also didn't say that you weren't trying as hard as you can and I don't mean to disrespect your efforts. But I hope it's clear why I feel changes could make this board better...Doesn't mean at all that I'm right nor that my approach is the only way.
  19. First, enforcing rules needs people who enforce. Even though I understand that Nanuq, Andy and Freddy have a life outside the online world, I must say that this board is simply the slowest moderated replica board around. I mean, check out the Moderator list and you'll find that some Mods haven't even been active for a 5-12 days period. Have you counted how many Mods RG, RWI or the other RWG have? Simply because Mods have the right for a life outside of this board. That Mike, a member for not even 2 years, is handling Raffles, the MD disaster and several other things without becoming a Mod shows that this board is reluctant to make changes. Second, I'm a member of this forum, because I like vintage Rolexes and this is the spot where many Franken builders go online from time to time. A lot a people show great attention to detail and knowledge. However, I'm not a paying VIP member despite the time I hang out here. Why? Because I'm am VIP or have been a VIP on other replica boards. Why else? Because this board has just the lowest activity rate. Why else? The search engine, amongst other features is [censored] and not working correctly. Why else? Because this board has barely improved since I joined. How does RWG want to attract supporting members? With this attitude? No. Well, I mean no disrespect but that's at least my prospective why this board has such a hard time finding new supporters. Calling them free loaders won't help I fear.
  20. Marlin, thanks for the info. I was asking about the edges of the 210. Some members said the case hasn't sharp enough edges to mirror the gen case look. Any thoughts on that?
  21. Lovely! Would you mind sharing more info about the 210? Did you do mods? Case shape - I've heard of blunt edges... Thanks A
  22. Beautiful! Damn... Do I need one of those?
  23. I knew I could count on you to check in for that comment
