  1. While I was wantering the hallowed watch shops of Bangkok, trying on IWCs and the like, I saw this. You probably all know my opinion of this Daytona, but I actually had the priviledge of seeing this hideous monstrosity in the flesh. I had to try on the genuine SS Daytona to get it out of my system.

    ROFL.

  2. it is in all countrys illegal to buy fake watches... not only in germany

i hope panerai don´t make much trouble. Maybe they send me a warning...

i never order a new watch... i will no more customs problems... it is to much risk

if Joshua refund my money i were happy. If not it is ok (it isn´t Josh´s problem, it is my problem)... and i learn from this story.

fedex is very bad in germany... i have 2 times held a parcel from customs with fedex shipping. A friend has also lost one parcel from fedex by customs...

Not illegal in the USA to purchase only to sell like the scam sites are doing.

  3. If you have a watch like this - forget about ANY water-resistancy... The crystal definately can be popped off with "thumb pushing",

but it should be really really hard to do so...

If you have the right glue for the job, you will have more than sufficient time to align and adjust, it takes at least half an hour to dry (with the glue I use) - better not to touch it for 1 day to dry completely...

Ah, one additional thing: be 100% sure to not have any microbubbles with air under the cyclops - otherwise it will bug you to insanity and you have to start over...

    :)

    Thanks.

  4. Check out ofrei.com/ on the ST6D:

    http://www.ofrei.com/page1119.html

Movement size is the same at 11.5 lignes, ht. of the ST6D is slightly greater than the 2836 and hand size is different, 85/135/20 vs. 90/150/25 on the 2836. The good news is, you probably could reuse te plastic spacer ring! Or buy a new ST6D movement and keep on going. A set of hands for the ETA movt will run $15-25 depending on where you find them. You could check ebay for Tudor hands and maybe come up w/ something. Clark Watch Supply in CA has them as I recall. The things that hold the movements in place are sometimes referred to as movement tabs.

    Thanks.

  5. I have a bunch of Submariners from the scam sites that contain the ST-6 movement. Does anyone know if I can purchase the 2836-2 movements and fit them into my cases. What is the part that connects those movements to the case? Currently, these ST-6 movements are held in place by the little plastic ring thingy.

  6. THANKS CHIEFTANG! That's exactly what I needed, and it did the trick.

It appears that the bracelet screws in the Overseas are ideally suited for a 1.2mm screwdriver. The Radio Shack comes with only a 1.0m and a 1.4mm, so I had to make due with the 1.0. Not ideal, but it got the job done.

Unfortunately, the screw inside my half link is stripped, so that's not coming out easily. Any suggestions on how to remove a stripped screw?

If you are trying to resize the band smaller, then you may need to cut the link out. That is what I did. I was very careful and took my time but got the job done without harming the adjacent link.

  7. Earlier this evening I got the Stanley Model No. 66-039 “6 piece precision screwdriver set” at Home Depot. Looks like a very nice set. Unfortunately, even the smallest screwdriver (1.4mm) is too large for the tiny screws in the bracelet links of the VC Overseas. I'm guessing I need a 1.2mm or even a 1.0mm for the bracelet.

I also tried Wal-Mart, but they had only another Stanley set with the same size screwdrivers.

Anywhere else I can try that might be open tomorrow (Sunday)? Options include Sears (Craftsman tools) and Ace Hardware.

Would an eyeglass repair shop have screwdrivers this small? Perhaps I should have tried Wal-Mart optical while I was there!

I went that route with no success. You need to mailorder a set that has the smaller sizes you need.

  8. All you can do is to remove the stem in the winding position, and carefully insert it while turing it as it goes in, this way it will normally engage into the clutch gear and not push the gear out of place.

It's not covered in detail anywhere, so no worries...with most of this stuff, 1000 words would not do justice to the job at hand, yet 2 minutes at the workbench with me, would explain it all clearly...such is the limitations of text.

Damn, I didn't realize that, I took my Seadwellar apart a few weeks ago to get watch out (very small fogging under the crystal) and used the silica treatment. I don't believe any damaging moisture got in the movement at all. But when I reinserted the stem, I just pushed it in. Now the hacking function doesn't work. I think it did before, I don't remember. But I believe this cheap Chinese movement has one. I wish there was an easy way to fix. The watch keeps good time otherwise. I have started to build a little toolbase, headvisor 2.5, screwdrivers etc. I am mechanically inclined. Are there any tutorials anywhere that would walk me through fixing the hack function? Is it also probable that part is damaged or just out of place? Thanks in advance.

  9. Does anyone remember the thread that showed of the members here describing which way (with pics) to move lever to adjust speed of watch (clockwise or anticlockwise)? It was just recently, thanks for the help.

  10. I too would love a picture... I am always curious just what you get from these scam sites...

I would be very happy to share pics but my digital camera is so old I can't get closer that 2 feet. I will give you an example, a GMT II from Globalrepli[censored] (I have one), the crown BARELY will start to thread because it hits the inside of the crownguards. It's so off sometimes the crown is popped out and I don't even know it. I am glad I didn't dip the watch one inch under the surface of my pool like I did my Seadweller for 1 second. Water got in the watch.

  11. I just said they are not scamming like best swiss, who charges 1000$ for a submariner or other sites that send you nothing.

Italian movement or asian movement, who gives a [censored] what they call it, I have bought watches from our dealers that were supposed to have sapphire (and had mineral), too.

They just provide those who dont know anything about watches with reps and while doiung that, they bend the truth a little bit. But they dont use pics of gens or the like

I dont care what you think, I never said I would buy from them, I just said their prices are reasonable!

They are NOT reasonable, I think you are missing the point, they all come from the SAME person(s).

  12. that site does not sell asian reps! read the options. they have even italian panerais! the look like the nicest ones i've ever seen too

holy crap that's the most crooked BS i've ever seen!

Try replicaceo.com or zenithmotor.com. Be prepared for your [censored] meter to blow. I guarantee you, NONE of them have 31 jewel movements, I know because I have some, they are again 4.00 movements.

  13. you are comparing apples with oranges. buying cocaine (and the posetion) is highly illegal. buying a replica is not. or else the whole CSI has to go to prison for handling fake daytonas!

also, this global replica thing is not that much of a "scam". their items are reasonably priced. I see daytonas with chrono movements for 327$. Even if its asian, thats not much more than our dealers charge for an asian 7750 daytona!

and I remember very well that members here paid more than 1000$ for a swiss 7750 daytona!

ROFL, to the CSI comment. :victory: You are wrong it is a full scam run by the same person. They still intentially lie on most item rampantly. Considering the 15 or more sites which globalscum is one of, all run by the same person, if 99 % of what they sell is fraud and 1 % is ok, does that make them ok? :black_eye:

  14. I was taking out a screw from a link to size to my wrist. It is one of the scamwatches. This is the first time I have ever had a screw seize on the way out. I had to dremmel the link off. I was extremely careful to avoid damaging the nearby link. I couldn't even get one of the other screws in all the way, almost but not quite. Well during the job, I punched a hole in my finger (bled pretty good) and tore a hole in the front of a pretty nice teeshirt. Maybe I need special certification. :black_eye:
