  1. There you go! I always read, time and again, how if you wear a Rolex - people will challenge you. Not that it is always the case, but if you are young, don't have a decent job, etc. you MAY get questioned. Even having said that, I have a buddy that got an all gold day-date (what 20-25k?) for his graduation from under-grad (before law school), nobody thought twice about it. I'm a young professional (early 30s), I'm successful in my field and I've never had a second glance. I can suspect you won't either. Also, in my circle of friend as well as business associates, there are almost more people that wear Rolex than those that don't. When I'm out calling on prospects, there is ALWAYS at least one that I see. . . I just don't get the posts saying that you will get asked if it is real, I just don't see it. . .
  2. Maybe it depends on who you hang out with, but I've owned a gen Rolex for about two and a half years and never ONCE have I been asked if it is real. Maybe because it is only SS? Do you really get asked that? Not trying to sound like a [censored], with your financial status or career - can you pull it off? I always wonder if these are white collar guys here that are getting asked or if they are 19 year old kids still living at home with mom.
  3. Congrats, nothing beats owning at least one gen!
  4. Hmmm, I'd say the IWC Ingy. I did not like it but I ended up getting it and LOVED it. Then I grew tired of it and sold it. . . now I miss it. It was spot on as far as appearance, had the heft and feel of a gen. Solid ETA movement. With a date wheel swap and a little lume on the dial - it was about as perfect a rep as I think is out there. Don't see many of them these days, must have lost their luster. For me not many grow on me, I know on day one if I'll like it or not. Having said that, it works the other way quite often. PAM 183 & Omega Moon are two that come to mind. Sold them both as I wasn't crazy about them. The 183 just didn't look right on me, the Omega moon was too obvious as a rep. If you've handeled or owned a gen Omega - it is blatently obvious. I had a gen Omega SMP and that is the watch I most regret selling (and my Davidsen 113). Sadly, my 005 is now gone too! As is this 089: All that is left is this:
  5. Awe shucks, thanks fella! Oh, OH! I've got an idea. How about you send your gen 005 to me, I'll snap a few and we can compare. I promise I'll get it back to you. . . . . . some day! Whaddaya say?
  6. But my picture rocks. . . right?
  7. http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=64332 Although I'm unloading after a day (and no wrist time). Better picuters are out there, but I didn't have the time to really try as I'm unloading on another forum. ..
  8. In my industry (Enterprise Software Solution Sales) we've been off this quarter, but I'm having quite a time of it. I've been on the road about 4 days a week, humping it, and getting stuff signed. Doing this, I make money. When I make money, I have this bad habit of spending it.
  9. A gen Panerai is HIGH on my current wish list. If I could stop spending money on wine, good Belgian beer and cigars (a few of my vices joined by road cycling and golf) - I could swing it shortly! Having said that, if my second quarter at work is anything like this one is shaping up to be, by the end of March I'll have my 112 or 005. If not, I'll have a DSN on my wrist. BTW - got home from a tough day of getting kicked in the teeth to find a box from Taiwan on my desk. "Mr. River delivers. . . "(in best David Caruso voice as the head cocks sideways) Need the straps to show, but I'll snap a few on rubber. Rubber is cool, right?
  10. Although I appreciate it, I'm not EVEN IN THE BALLPARK when it comes to the pros like By-Tor, Pugs, Jiro or Bazz. I get lucky from time to time - but they are 10s and I'd rank my stuff 5ish. . . I once had about 15 top-tier straps and a number of nice reps. A modded 183, a DSN 005, DSN 113, Inge, Omega Moon, ??? I made a career change, had another kid, etc and I had to make a few sacrifices to fund other hobbies. My bills always stay paid, but my "fun money" got tight - so I unloaded all of them and kept my one gen (GMT II). When I do post, I mainly post at RWI, although I visit all the major forums. I've got an 089 on order and two cheap straps. I'll photograph the HELL out of it when it comes in and see if I can "Wow" any of you. I'm going to fix the CG and maybe send it off for a lume job and a 'tick' at '9' since I got the one without it. With those two things, it will be pretty solid. I'm a little nervous about the 7750, but I only think I need a few months out of it before I can pull the trigger on my first gen PAM (fingers crossed). About Davidsen - he is top notch. Both my watches came with a few "glitches". Stripped lug, stripped CG screw, all of which could be fixed with spring bars (River's are better) or some Loc-tite. You have to expect it won't be PERFECT as we are paying (Was $300ish, now creaping up towards the $400 mark) for a watch that is 99% accurate to a $4000+ gen. All in all, he puts out my favorite watches and I plan on getting an 005 or 112 from him fairly soon (could be sooner if I win my fantasy football league!). Thanks for your kinds words and feel free to PM if you have questions. Go order that sucker and enjoy! -WD
  11. But now she's gone (as are ALL the straps). . .
  12. I touched up a picture to make it sharper. A little too dark, but it is better. . .
  13. The old CG was slightly curved, the gen is flat on top. Also, the pin wasn't flush - but I filed it down to be flush as can be seen in the wristshot. I sold it when I had to raise some funds (the 113 too), but I plan on adding another Davidsen or two down the road (maybe an 005 or 112 and maybe a 113).
  14. I had an 005, with the C3. Although it wasn't perfect, it wasn't as green as his pictures make it look. The older CG is what killed me about mine. . . I sure do miss it, AND my 113.
  15. How many dealers would accept to be put in the bad dealer section? NONE. They would come back under another name that way too.
  16. Nice review. Funny how one of the switches appears to be upside down. Does it rotate bi-directionally?
  17. I hate when I strap this on and don't have any secret agent spy crap to do.....
  18. Thank you. There is a good reason for that and I owe it to my wife. She spoils me......
  19. I've had this on for the last few weeks: BUT I switched to this today:
  20. Thanks to everyone that is contributing to this and most importantly to Edge. The more I read about the situation, the more I want to *throw up*
  21. I don't know if there is an official list or not, but I'd scratch my name off if there is. I'm out. Thanks, WD
