I travel to Italy a number of times each year (for business), they are ALL over the place. One of the owners of a company I do work with has one with a green bezel, he wears it when he comes to the states. Saw him a few weeks ago in Germany and he had on a two-tone Daytona & his son had a GMT II.
I will often pay a premium for service and safety. I could have saved a bit of money on all my reps and gens, but peace of mind is worth it to me.
I'm not slighting those that don't and I completely understand that more than likely nothing will happen, but that game isn't for me.
Great opportunity, but this scares me:
I understand he doesn't want to take the risk, but neither will I. $350 is a great price and we are lucky to have him do this, but I'm not willing to risk it. My $350 will buy 1 or two SOLID reps with a dealer that WILL make sure it gets to me.....
Good luck to all!
EXACT same quality? Which of those models carries a 1000m rating?
Show me a PAM for $200 that is good to go out of the box, that doesn't require another $150-200 to fix a cannon pin and lume.
Telll y'all what, you don't like it - don't buy it. Action speaks louder than words.
Wore this to the park this morning with my little one. I think that could be snot from his runny nose on the crystal. I snapped this when the wife wasn't lookin' as she doesn't "get" me taking pictures of watches.
I've since switched to this one (watch/strap combo):
Wow, do I ever feel like an idiot! I've not bought one but two of Davidsen's junkers.....
I have no idea what watch would get my vote. There are many I don't like, but I can't comment on if they are overrated or not.
To each his/her own.
Tough call. I'd be torn between a Rolex DRSD or Comex SD (1665), a PAM 201a, or a Newman Daytona.
It it was my one and only gen, I'd want it to be one I could wear daily, swim, vacation, etc and not worry too much.
Besides ORIS and HAMILTON, this is another that is in that range, maybe a hundred or two more: the Ball Engineer Master II Diver. It has those cool little tubes that glow like mad without re-charging:

This would be up there with the ORIS for me.
Without a doubt (almost), I'd do an Oris TT1 Diver.

I would also consider Sinn (don't know which) & Hamilton Khaki Air Race GMT:
