  1. 'Tis amazing how fast time flies--we've been around for a lonnng time now already. What a special place this is; and so were the 2 other places we once were at (old boards, no longer "around"). Cheers
  2. I am shocked at what the going rates are for the AP endlinks. I want to order the carbon fiber strap from Oracle. Does this come with the 4 end links? I got 2 quotes from them as I sent 2 email inquiries a week or so ago. The end links are way more expensive than the straps (just like Elliot's). The reason why I ask is that I ordered already a croc black/off-white from Strapluxe and I would like to get tight fitting endlinks. From what I've read, Oracle is the one who has these tight fitting links. So, again, if I order the Oracle carbon fiber strap, does it come with the endlinks or do I have to order them separately? I want to put the carbon fiber Oracle on my Rubber AP and I want to put the Strapluxe croc on my steel AP ROO (coming). Or, can I use the endlinks from the steel AP ROO for the Strapluxe strap; and use the endlinks from the Rubber AP ROO with the Oracle carbon? I'm confused
  3. It will be interesting to see some detailed pics. The design is quite attractive--certainly contemporary in the aesthetics dept. How will it hold up in time? I wonder. But for now, let's get some nice pix posted up around here!
  4. It is rather pricey, but you guys all know that already.
  5. Some pics of the ol' bird with rubber...
  6. Yes... How could I forget the last EL masterpiece, the first 3717 batch! To this day, his 3717 is the best rep I have ever seen right out the box! ----- If you're reading this EL, this is for you!
  7. EL was the man! Hope you're doin' good these days!
  8. They've been very popular in Europe for a few years now. I like the way they look, but the sizing is ridiculous, and as such, I would never want one nor wear one. They remind me of airplane gauges, which are cool to look at (but not to wear). Cheers
  9. Thanks for the compliments, gentlemen It's a great watch out of the box, so to speak. However, you guys know that Euno is always a restless perfectionist, so... I do plan upon modding the watch
  10. Cheers R.T. for posting this topic! As a long time veteran WIS, I can say that I've always been impulsive when it comes to picking up a watch. I've managed to make profits on genuine watches that I was lucky enough to scoop up 20+ years ago for pennies on the dollar. But those days are over and if you're in it to make $, forget it nowadays. Reps are a different tale. They are a waste of money for me at this point. I still buy them because I'm a watchoholic maniac. Their inherent resale value is next to nil. Shoddy QC makes for an unreliable timepiece; and as such, a wholly useless investement. They are a waste that surely highlights that a rep collector is nothing but an ingrate who seeks material items to fulfill his/her eternal emptiness Let's put it this way, I have too many money-draining hobbies: - Sexy women - Vintage cars - LPs & hifi gear - Cameras - 1st edition books Collecting reps only adds fuel to the fire! Will I keep buying them? My answer is: within reason. I don't need every watch out there. In fact, I have very particular tastes, so 99% of what I see remains utter aesthetic garbage to me. There are occasionally some reps that I would buy. And, for the most part, they're made by the evil axis. So I buy the reps. My reasoning is that these big companies (Richemeont, LVMH, etc...) are scandalous ripoff artists--and that NONE of their produced items deserve the price point(s) bracket(s) in which they are placed. Is it childish to take on such a rebellious stance? Who cares is what I say. That's just the way I am. Long story short, most of these models are just a passing phase. They are not worth the big $ that they are priced at. A keen example is Panerai. Would I pay big $ for a genuine one? Hell no. And look at old PAM now. She's nothing but a fashion trend that is so last season homie! Now if you'll excuse me, I've got to get back to searching for some Maserati Ghibli car parts (waste!!!)
  11. I said I wouldn't but I did! After getting rid of the first one, I went and got another one I had to give it another try... So I ordered this one with the steel bracelet instead of the rubber (got an extra rubber just in case though). And the verdict is: I actually like it. In fact, I like it a lot. I usually do not like bracelet watches, but this one really does need to be on the bracelet. With the rubber, to me, it looks like something made by Oakley, Diesel or Nixon.
  12. This one from Angus gets the Euno Thumbs Up! Gonna get the bracelet version, too!
  13. They really outta rep some of the new models, and some of those vintage models. But I think that a rep Milspec 1 or Tornek-Rayville kinda defeats the purpose. The best part about owning an original military/dive piece is the 1 of a kind provenance. That's not to say that I wouldn't buy one, or two, etc... Another point is that rep makers don't care about gentlemen with distinguished tastes. They want to make money. And we know that the masses, in general, are 'tasteless'.
  14. He just got back to me. Now I'm off to the post office
  15. I've been trying to contact Angus due to 2 major mistakes. I've always been pleased in the past but currently I need 2 major things rectified. Is he around?
  16. Do the Strapluxe straps come with the links?
  17. Doxas are amazing! I've been especially a HUGE fan of their 1930s pocket watches.
  18. I went with the black rubber black dial. We'll see if I like it. I might have to order the steel bezel version, too.
  19. I can't wait for the Big Pilot. I picked up a slew of new reps, which I am very excited about (namely, the AP ROO)... But the Big Pilot is certainly one of my faves! Hopefully the new vintage line will show up, too: Ingenieur, Aquatimer, Mark IX, Portuguese etc...
  20. You guys know that I'll post some detailed pics when I get my black dial rubber ROO. I can't wait! I might have to buy the steel bezel version too. Hopefully by then, the Big Pilot will be out, too! Reps & cars. Reps & cars & ladies. Reps & cars & ladies & wine. Reps & cars & ladies & wine & hifi audio. Reps & cars & ladies & wine & hifi audio & Leica cameras... ARRRRGH!!!! MADNESS!!!!
  21. I went for the rubber bezel. If I like this watch (and it fits well), I'll get the SS bezel version also and slap on a leather strap Best regards
