  1. Wow, I don't know what to say. This is the second time IWC hits themselves in their own respective nuts. Kinda reminds me of the ad that was run in Hong Kong about the 8-Day winding system. You know, the hotel bedstand, the watch that stops, blame it on the lady for keeping you in the bed for 8+ days... A lawsuit was filed and IWC pulled the ads. Pure cheese. Bring back the old BOAC ads and the Mark II. I have nothing against a sense of humor, in fact, it is a prerequisite to enter my kinship. But... I don't find timekeeping/horologerie anything to giggle about. Afterall, we are all limited in our time here on this planet. To me, it is a very serious affair (the art of keeping track of time). Funny ads are great, just not for the great IWC.
  2. About 10 years ago, at University, I was waiting for a parking space. I was amusingly watching 2 cars fight over another space. One dude jumped outta his car with a baseball bat. In Los Angeles, road rage happens all the time. And death is usually the outcome. On the 110 FWY, there are deadly shootings weekly. Yes, weekly. I loose my cool sometimes, but in all fairness to fellow mankind: most humans are idiots (like me) and soon we will all be plucked away from this reality sooner than later. Be careful!
  3. Yup, those 'lifetime' transmisions... My E32 'lifetime' transmission blew out on me at 160k. Oddly enough, I was 1/4 block away from the best transmission pair shop in Los Angeles (Sunset Transmission on Glendale Blvd @ Temple). Those sealed transmissions can last over 250k - luck of the draw, I guess. I'd rather have a drain on the tranny than totally sealed. With the E31, I have no choice but to be gentle. After all, it's a GT, not a redlight/greenlight rocket.
  4. I'll ask my mechanic the next time I visit him. Last week, he was telling me about his transmission on his Land Rover while we were inspecting the underbelly of an E31. His transmission is the same as on E32 735iL, 740iL and 750iL.
  5. I don't know. It looks like a car in one of those video games.
  6. So, the movement... It's an asian 7750? Or it that mystery movement that has taken a shittt on most owners? Can you open it up?
  7. Still waiting. Almost losing interest (ok, not really). But damn, this shittt is taking long.
  8. I'm not denying that I'm crazy!
  9. I'm going crazy waiting for this damn watch.
  10. Every Watch Boys strap I have is as good or better than OEM IWC straps. I highly recommend The Watch Boys.
  11. The same transmissions are also used in most 90s BMWs, too!
  12. Wish they still imported the Defender 90 in the USA. Too bad Land Rover simply didn't want to install airbags in the Defender 90. Great machine, amazing history. Almost picked up a green one back in '97. Wish I had.
  13. Great looking watch. Reminds me that I should take out my 009 PVD and wear it - it's been a very long time. Cheers
  14. I've had many sets of Michelin Pro Sports on several BMW's. They are nice tires, but the P-Nero Pirelli tires smoke the Pro Sports (better all season grip). They are also the quietest tires I've ran on super large chassis E32 750iL. The P-Nero lasted over 30k on the 750. They paid for themselves. Michelin Pro Sports were stock BMW tires for at least a decade. Now BMW stock tends to be Exctas, which perform great but tread life is 10k-15k which is a joke for their respective pricing. The Pro Sports are excellent smooth hi-speed great traction long life tires, but the P-Nero is noticeably superior (especially after a 5k burn in period). I was a Pro Sport man for many years but am now a P-Nero convert. By the way, I have Pro Sports on my lastest 8 Series Just waiting for a little cash flow to come in for the staggered 18"x8 and 18"x9.5 M-Parallel rims and Pirelli P-Neros. I know that tires and what you pair them with make all the difference. Synergy is not always achieved with certain combos. I can tell you that with my experience with E31, E32 and E34 BMWs, the P-Nero is an excellent chioice. Especially in the 18" with unusual sizes such as 245/40, 275/35 or 285/35, etc...
  15. Another comment, I'd pass on the Lotus. It's tiny. I mean really tiny. Looks like a Fiat X19, but more dorky If you're 5'11" or more, your head will stick out of the open roof.
  16. Yup, and tires ain't cheap. Although, you guys might have heard that the Pirelli P-Nero line has a 60,000 mile tread life. That's insanity! But, I gotta tell you you, they are excllent in the 17"-18"-19"-20" sizes (ultra-ultra quiet, highest speed rated and grip the road like velcro). Forget about those Ecxtas, Pro-Sports, Dunlops, etc...
  17. Euno, the man in black, sez: black is timeless, black is black and nothing is like black.
  18. Nice watch! It's a strange one though, looking at pics does not do it justice. Once you see it in person, it has a "must have". Only in person to you get a sense of how authentic it feels. Cheers
  19. Solid gold yellow Rolex President: thee classic Cadillac & watch combo. Maybe in this case though, you can update with a white gold Prez.
  20. It's going to be another long and annoying day... I will wear this watch so that I can time how slowly the day will pass.
  21. TMG hit the nail on the head. More info: There is a cobbler in Hanoi, Vietnam, who is thee source for these forged Blancpains. He is the only guy making them (I am not including the random one-offs we've seen surface). And the best part is: he tries to sell them as genuine. But wait, there's more! This crooked cobbler also is the source for the so-called 'Stubby' M.O.D. SM300 that you find seemingly everywhere these days. He also made fake IWC Type 48 M.O.D. issue watches. This guy is a liar and a thief. He has been annoying the military watch world since the early 1990s. I met him by accident (or luck) once. I should've punched him when I had the chance. Stupid me. His shop is virtually impossible to find, but, for the right price, it can be found by asking the locals. He has forged countless watches, and he has ripped off literally 100s of people. He only sells fakes. Oh, did I mention that he's also a liar? I think I did, but I'll say it again.
  22. BMW 650 convertible. Reasoning behind my choice:Get a certified pre-owned car (excellent warrantee, etc). You don't get hit with depreciation as soon as you leave the lot. Fast car. Convertible. Save your pennies and get a 500hp M6. Or better yet, forgo the convertible and get a car that nobody has (only 250 lucky people in North America). Get a BMW 850CSi with 6 speed manual transmission. Install a supercharger and your car will be 550+hp; and despite the weight of the car, you will smmmmmoke an M6 at a green light.
