A silver DW would have been used in the earliest 16800s- around 6 mill SN, with the matte dial.
The matte dial without the white gold ringed marker I take it....>
Man the DW is a tough one !!
-
a gen 3055 would work, but it's hard to find. Also an early 3135 with open 6 and 9, but it's even harder to get.
Here's my 16014 with gen 3055 dwo
Indeed. It seems both the 3055 AND early 3135 DW's are next to impossible to find.

What Alligoat said.
Also, how'd that crystal I sent work out? Never heard how it went.
I can't say Brother.
I'm out of town until Friday and no word from the house that it has arrived .....??

I'm back with another request for info and opinions.
Regarding the DW needed for this build...I still haven't been able to locate the one I'm after.
What series 16800 would I be replicating by using a Silver DW like this ????
-
Mostly was looking for a more accurate movement like a top grade. It's a great watch and nothing wrong with the movement was just wondering if anybody had put a Chrono grade mvmt in their rep, suppose it defeats the "cheaper" pointy of getting a rep in the first place
I see your point.
Keep in mind that simply because the eta 2836-2 hasn't been put through the extra man-hours of performing a COSC regulation doesn't mean it's not capable of being regulated to be within COSC specs.
Fact is most genuine swiss 25j, 28,800 bph eta mvts are capable

here is the problem guys. there is a large batch of modern rep rolex parts circulating on the market right now. Even the packaging is perfect. There are some ways to tell what is rep and what is not. Even the experts are being fooled by the parts and the packaging.
Agreed.
That's why it's best to buy the seller, not the parts.
When in doubt it's best to go with someone you know and trust.
-
I'm curious.
BK used gen swiss 2836-2's in the TW, which are excellent mvt's.
What's got you wanting to swap mvts ??
-
You are right "Gio"...as usual.
The TW is indeed a VERY good Sub...and I do still wear mine on a regular basis.
-
Dial looks gen to me.
Crystal...hard to say without being mounted on the gen gasket.
-
Very cool looking.
I like it.
Great job

I agree the tw case is not as good but the v series tc (wm9 v4) is almost as good IMHO. Have you checked that out ?
I too agree.
I was more than pleased with the TW and crown height wasn't ever an issue for me....until I landed a TC 16610.
HUGE difference....though I couldn't ever say the TW was ever embarassing for me
The BK TW 16610 is still a VERY convincing Sub rep and a GREAT value.
I too have acquired the gen crystal, dial, complete bezel assembly,crown/tube and 93250 clasp along the way and am not sure if I'll even use the dial.
The gen bezel assembly has been allocated to the 16800 project I'm currently gearing up for.
My point...? Where the 16610 is concerned I'm stopping with the Franken TC.
(but I said that with the WM9 v2..then the v3...then the TW...and now the TC
)

Does anyone have the link for these bezels ??
I'm not seeing it on the bay.
Thanks.

I received my Clark's bezel yesterday and put it on my TC case. I didn't have a crystal in the case, so the bezel wasn't tight to the case. I have a gen 16610 bezel on another TC sub and the Clark's is spot on to the gen. I installed a gen insert in the Clark's and it went in without a problem. This is a very good upgrade to the stock TC bezel.
That's exciting news.
Gen assembly for the 16800 build...Clark upgrade on the TC

I've had real trouble fitting a gen insert to my new TC Sub. Fantastic watch overall but sorry to say I gave up and reduced the diameter of the gen insert as I don't have the tools to increase the internal diameter of the bezel.
Mine wouldn't snap on by hand either but it went right on home with a crystal press
-
Yes, same part reference different click
This new Clark 16610 bezel fits which crystal retaining ring ??
Or does it come as a complete bezel assembly ??
-
WHERE did you get that DW ??
I really need one of them .
-
Nanuq:
Thanks Brother.
And I do agree.
The very little I've learned so far I've learned on the Forums and it's only because of guys like this willing to lend some info for the cause
Thanks again guys...I really do appreciate it.

Thanks for sharing, Brother.
Any help locating the correct DW needed would be greatly appreciated
-
Thanks brother.
And I do appreciate it.
I've read some things recently and have generated a few more questions for the pros.
So rather than start another thread, I thought I'd keep them here.
I've read that an eta 2678 offered by TC may be an option for using the gen dial feet ( hate to clip them if it can be done otherwise)
Drilling out holes for the gen dial feet was mentioned but I'm unclear as to what needs drilled.
The large brass mvt. ring or the mvt. main plate itself ??
I've asked aroung about the possibilty of drilling feet holes in the main plate of the 2836-2.
It seems that's not possible without making the DW diameter smaller....if that's even possible
Will the 2678 fit a case designed for a 3035 ??
If so, with what mvt ring....and where to find a 2678 hand set ??
And back to the correct open 6 and 9 DW or overlay.
....
this is a difficult one to find so...
....can a gen 3055 or 3155 DW be made to fit as an overlay ??
....can a gen 3135 DW be "converted" to the open 6 and 9 with the skillful use of white paint to cover enough to make them look open
or perhaps with the skillful use of a scalpal to of flick off a tiny bit of the Black font to open the 6's and 9's up. ??
If so, who might have the skill to do this....I simply don't feel I have what it takes.
Thanks again for all the input and help

In comparison, how much deeper is the rehaut on the TC case??
Gotta love the coronet on the crown of your 16800. At least I do.
-
.......anxiously awaiting the grand finale
-
Can't wait to see this completed Red.
Congrats....that's gonna be an awesome piece.
And congrats on the DW...google hasn't been much help locating one for me
-
Where can you find just the CHS mvt. that's not already been installed ??
And the gen spec hour hand and GMT hand you mention ??
