  1. WOW!!! Another Beauty MD2020 Those are both awesome...thanks for sharing (the bait )
  2. Another Awesome build Brother. That's a BEAUTY!!!
  3. ....and you Sir seem to be right. That WM9 v3 LV insert "does" look purty darn good
  4. Wow Mitch....those WM9 v3 LV's are VERY good looking !!! ...let me re-phase that......AWESOME !!!
  5. Wolf....I couldn't have said it better myself Brother. It "is:" the journey, not the destination and a build is alot more fun that just dropping the dough and...POOF.... it's over. In searching/sourcing and the likes I too have gained a fair amount of knowledge in the models I'm interested in....not to mention meeting the acquaintance of some great guys and hooking up with some real nice parts dealer. When I found this community I didn't know how to open a case back or even pull a stem. After a long and enjoyable journey (that's far from being over) I believe I could now pick up the phone or send an email or two and get my hands on just about any gen part ever needed for my projects.......and as long as no major modding is required, install them too. TeeJay...cost to build and resale value certainly aren't on the top of my list either when it comes to putting a build together. I'm a blue collar working-class dawg and Rolex doesn't afford me any kind of status. It's just the Brand that appeals to me...( being a global Icon probably had something to do with that)..so I stuck with it. My very first "real nice watch" purchase was a Submariner back in 1991 or so....since then the Submariner has always been among my favorites...............
  6. I was a die hard 16610 fan until I saw the one RedWatch had done. Between that and Fidhle here I took off full speed....I just "had" to have one too. The 16610's are awesome but something about the shallow rehaut paired with the matte finish dial of the 16800 does it for me. I'm a 16800 man now.....and love it
  7. Man....I gotta quit looking around so much. You guys and your awesome looking vintage Subs are gonna break me yet. Looks VERY nice Brother.
  8. A maxi dial and hands set up would look sweet.
  9. LOL....sounds just like me with mvt tampering beyond the keyless, setting DWO's and trying to install a dial with no feet
  10. Ahh....sorta like an "all numbers matching" '66 SS Chevelle with Muncie and 4:11 posi..replaced with the same 396 but not the "exact same block" that went into it on the assembly line ( Ive been through that before too) Thanks for the info 'Doc.....greatly appreciated Brother.
  11. Well.....if it's allowed, mine says hi too And I know....fix that darn minutes hand.....
  12. Just read the Chi-man tear down of the PC 1655 (almost 3 years ago) Are the current offerings still based on this case ?? Tried to PM you Brother but it says no.........
  13. All great information here guys....and thanks. No...I don't have a gen 1575 mvt...it was just a thought if I went with the gen 16570 Exp.II case. (and I'm now thinking that'd be a waste of funds seeing as how I'm straying from the original by wanting to use a sapphire crystal so it won't be all acurrate) I do have a BK Noob Exp.II case (older discontinued model) that I know to be gen spec enough to accept gen dial (27.3mm) crystal, bezel and 5330 tube. Of course it has non-holed lugs....so perhaps I should take the advise of alligoat and give a Josh complete watch a test drive ??? (will the Josh case accept a Yuki/NDT or other gen size dial and gen spec crystal, conversion sapphire crystal, bezel and tube??) Using an eta 2836-2 GMT ICHS would be a CHS for the 1655. Does anyone have a Josh 1655 that can give their opinion/review of.....?? A perfectly aligned/centered DW is a "major" issue for me as I feel that's one of the first things that's noticed on a watch using a cyclop.
  14. Thanks for the info. Do you have any idea whether it'll only fit certain rep cases or is it a gen spec crystal ? I know very little regarding the plexi's and models they were used in
  15. Awesome looking collection Brother
  16. Pressing the "sleeve" into the case will work but keep in mind that's also another point at which the case can leak and allow water/moisture to get in.. I've done a few of the 42mm PO gen tube installs and JB Weld is the one that worked the best. The one that seems to have had the most success was the one I filled in the case tube bore with JB and just prior to curing shaped it to the inside groove of the case....basically :"feathering" it smooth to avoid interfering with the mvt ring. After setting under the pressure of a clamp for 24 hrs. I drilled through the JB to allow the stem to go through. May not be everyone's choice of tactics but it worked very well for me.
  17. Is there any updates yet regarding that ??
  18. I agree. I don't know much about the LV's as far as what's available out there for inserts. Maybe edit your title to "Best rep LV insert to use".......?? Someone that's went Franken on a LV is bound to know
  19. Ain't that the truth Brother! That dial looks awesome. Alligoat....thanks for sharing that link. That's gotta be the among some of the better looking refinish jobs I've seen. Some of the 4 line font is a tad bit off but everything else is "just about: right. GREAT price for a dial and hands to have superlumed....an alternative when not wanting to mess up the lovely patina on a gen.
  20. Thanks for the input guys. If I start with a gen case it'll be the 16570 case as that's the only gen case I have that would come close to the 1655.. Would it be a good case to start with ?? Im planning to stray from the original 1655 by using a 295-C sapphire on the build. Can this conversion from plexi to sapphire even be done on the Josh/Cartel offerings ?? I'd only use a gen 1570 mvt if I used the gen 16570 case. (IF a 1570 would even fit in an Exp.II case). In a rep case the current ICHS 2836-2 would be acurrate to the HS of a 1570 GMT. Thanks again for the expert guidance.
  21. If other pics of other 16800 dials show a hyphen between the Swiss and letter T that isn't pefectly centered above the 30 second indice they're refinished dials
  22. C'mon guys. I "know" there's bound to be some 1655 build "experts" around here
  23. That may be worth a shot...but if I'm not mistaken the gen 116610 ceramics came with the solid center link Bracelets.
