  1. +1 cougar1 I bought the Gen last year (black model) and soon after bought the rep as I heard so many good things about it. I didn't get the better movement as the couple of differences were not important for me, pearling movement and correct rotor from memory! Man what a rep it is, compared so well to the Gen that I sold it within a week, it really is that close I just did the bracelet fix on it, greased seals and it was good to go. Still runs like a champ and by the way the blue is way off the Gen
  2. @Pho, I'm with you on the charity $$ mate, my uncle works for one raising funds (funnily enough!) and the overheads are markedly high for a small business! @fxrandy & importr, thanks for the input guys
  3. Bought one last year cheap, still going ok but motors are bit noisy so I asked the wife politely and kissed her feet (you wanna see them ) and just got a sixer for my Birthday! I think they are ok if you need to be able to just pick a watch out and run like me, it used to be a pain to set one up every time I went out and as I understand it on the correct setting it keeps the movements lubed etc. Sorry for crappy pic..its late
  4. LoL Pho, I only wish I could agree with you mate, I try to think as positive as I can about everyone......that is until it involves money! Human beings are a greedy lot and will do pretty much anything to get one over on you, so my philosophy 'Be positive, Karma is a wonderful thing' .....and if all else fails kick their Ass! Seriously though thanks again for the advice guys, as an update I haven't ordered anything yet! Pho you got me thinking it is a dear piece so I'm looking at Seadweller reps again and hoping to pin down one with a decent Rehaut to try my first bit of modding to make a vintage look SD. Cheers Steve
  5. No worries I want honest opinions and thats what I've got from both of you, Thanks I am looking at clearing some of my early buys later this week on here to fund my next few, Steinhart is one brand that keeps coming up for me as being fairly good quality I just haven't seen one in the flesh! I'm looking at one on the bay at the mo to see what they go for secondhand, and really like the Ocean Red, but like most of us on here I like quite a few watches Pho I had a look at the Bremont website, nice but do you know how much they sell for? Invicta watches to me seem a bit hit & miss quality wise but I agree they have some nice looking models in the range. Cheers
  6. Looks a great watch, enjoy and a belated 'Happy Birthday'
  7. I'm sure Apple will send me an app to sort her out soon lol, drives me bloody nuts too it's a common issue with the vintage woman I've got not sure if the later models had an upgrade though She can't grasp the fact that 'climate control' means just that, we live in 35C heat most of summer some days hotter, and whenever I get in her car bugger me the AC is off cause she got too cold last trip feeling your pain vandal !
  8. @ phoband & cougar1 Just when I am ready to pull the trigger you two go and spoil the party !! lol thanks guys will have another look at PT and Trusty to see what comes up! Had a look at Christopher Ward, some great pieces, the Trident Gmt is especially nice.....some many watches, drives ya mad eh!
  9. Thanks guys for your views on these think I will give one a go and order it this week will post some pics when it comes! @ ninjagaiden, yes I have, looks really nice and the Gmt too!
  10. Hi All, Just wondering if anyone can offer their views on the Steinhart range of watches? Looking to buy the Ocean 1 Vintage Red as it looks a great piece, http://www.steinhartwatches.de/de/OCEAN-1-VINTAGE-red,191.html I love the look of it but are they reliable movements etc and how do they compare quality wise to other brands? Would appreciate any help you guys can offer Cheers
  11. I used 'White Lightning' a dry lube for bike chains, it's awesome stuff! Get a clean sandwich bag put the bracelet in and cover in the lube, rub it in really well then let the lube evaporate away a few mins then give it a good wash with some soap & water, rinse well then leave to dry, a quick buff and feels more like Gen. I have done the same to every bracelet I get works every time I am not sure if by feeling stretched you mean floppy/loose feel to it but if so try putting the bracelet links in a vice or pair of grips to push the pins home fully to tighten it back up, only had to do this once and worked a treat, obviously only do it on the parts of the bracelet without screws and use something to stop any scratches happening!
  12. Awesome write up and a fantastic quality build enjoy it !
  13. I recently had the same problem with a ceramic sub, the bracelet fell apart whilst out for an evening I was lucky that I found the pieces and temp repaired it! On getting the watch home I found that the pins holding the band pieces together were too short and had simply come apart, out came the loctite and problem solved for me! My other issue was with the springbars when I first got the sub, I lubed the bracelet and cleaned the watch down etc(as per recommendations on here) and when I tried to mount the bracelet again it just would not fit properly, so after measuring the springbars (both different sizes) and replacing them with some I had sourced cheap on the bay they went in first time and the watch is tip top again in fact just been in the ocean with it for the umpteenth time and its still going strong! The spring bars I used are ss316 20mm x 1.78mm, hope that helps buy them here http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/10-T-BAR-SPRING-BARS-STAINLESS-STEEL-20mm-x-1-78mm-/220845149286?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item336b658c66
  14. WOW....Love the watch, if a picture is worth a thousand words then yours are worth 10k at least only wish I had the skills too
  15. I'm probably tempting bloody fate here, both of my PO crowns feel absolutely great and are still the rep parts they pick up smoothly and wind in several turns to lock. I did consider changing them asap when I first got them but so far so good.......
