  1. +1 i got a gen IWC from strapdaddy. He got a new gen IWC velco for my AT. For the going price of a used one. And shipping was super quick.
  2. I have a gen PO. I currently have a rep bracelet on it. I just can't justify paying > $700 for a gen bracelet when the rep looks good. But the endlinks doesn't fit well. Here my question. I'm thinking about getting gen 952 endlinks (~$150) to go with my rep bracelet. What are the pro and cons of doing this. And are there any other options other than buying a gen bracelet? Also I know rep is call a franken when you put gen parts on it. What is it called when you put rep parts on gen ?
  3. Is there a mark on the bezel at 40 or is that lint.
  4. This is a gen site that has flash sales. It gives about 45-70% off. it called venteprivee Dont wait if you see something. They sell out fast
  5. Man, Nanuq, I was going to either bust you balls or say something funny about your story. But, after reading it twice. You could have died !!!! It sounds like the hypothermia was already clouding your judgement early into your trek. Just glad it turned out sorta ok. Sorry about your frost bite.
  6. If I remember over at WUS. Someone got stopped at an airport. It was in someone checked luggage and the name threw up red flags. Don't know the all the details.
  7. Hmmm, I'm wearing a gen Tag right now. I know for a fact it is mass produced. It has no connection with any watchmaker. I've sorta connected with the watch but plan to switch it out for Breitling aerospace. Lets me count how many sub fakes, reps, homages or whatever you want to call it is out there. I have some reps that have awesome quality that would kick an lower end gen butt. I remember when they said asian watches were inferior to swiss made watches. Then Tag (I think) got caught using seiko movements I'll take a grand seiko over most middle level watches including a rolex. What is someone sold you a gen at a really awesome price. Then you find out later it has a rep movement. Do you trash it our keep on wear it as you did before. Because in reality its the same freakin watch. I have put my rep watches into three areas - 1) Nice design, wear as disposable , flip when tired of them watches, 2) Really nicely made reps will keep them as long as possible (sleven, ploprof, franken snowflake). 3) Try the rep before I buy the gen.
  8. Love the story. I wanted to really love my BK PBDAD DSSD. But I could never decided how to wear it Was it a dress watch, since it was nice and polished with Rolex over over it ? Was it a tool watch, that can be taken to any limits. BTW way to hold your cool and not lie about the watch in either case.
  9. When I was playing with a gen. I noticed the bezel was a little sharp.
  10. Yea, the dial needs a complete relume. It just looks sloppy, just sloppy. in fact it looks like I did it.
  11. @freddy Whats that big white thing in the middle of the pic. Is that a "boom" box my grand-dad told stories about ?
  12. or you could cut your lost, part the YM out. Use the money and get a used YM
  13. Nanuq, damn you !!! I'm going to make a run for the black lung. I've pm'd you for some advice.
  14. Just wanted to share. Awesome deals to be found. If I remember correctly stock changes daily.
  15. Been on a gen kick lately. It aint no Doxa but I like it.
  16. I have mine on a black nato with an hint of orange down the middle.
  17. Tom Selleck ? I think thats the guy my GRANDMOTHER used to go on about. no offense to the GMT
  18. @Nanuq, I almost brought that darn black lung last night. Damn you again. But this is what I actually did. Traded Gen 500m, Sinn u1, and a little cash for a Pam zero - face to face I have a pending trade for the zero for a Ploprof plus a little cash. But, I have email the black lung seller for a potential trade - a gen PO pumpkin for the doxa. So hopeful I can have two cool dive watches with very little cash out of pocket. Plus I can also reduce the volume of watches I have.
  19. The only one worth getting is the 5015-1130-52 Its on my list but they go for ~ $13k new and the best price used I've seen is around $9k. Since BP's resale value is horrible most people would rather hold onto them to sell them at a $6-7k loss. But if one comes up within striking distance. Oh yeah it will be mine.
  20. yes, I try to stay focus when buying watches. But I keep looking at that damn doxa !!! Luckily whiny patients are keeping me busy today. oh yeah , DAMN you Nanuq for bringing that DOXA link to RWG.
  21. I didnt mention vintage because either a 5513 or a double red would be a no-brainer for me. But now I think I would love to hear which gen I'm over looking
  22. Dude, your not helping. I've talked myself out of it because if it need to be serviced in any way. Parts are going to be hell to find. Plus it'll just be a safe queen. I believe watches need/deserve to be worn.
  23. Damn, you nanuq !!!!! I may have to get into the race for this one.
