If I was paying £4000, for a gen, it would have to be perfect. This is a £200 rep... ! You can be as picky as you like, but it's still a £200 rep !

Welcome to RWG from a fellow UK Omega fan !

Just found this one on the UK Ebay, the guy is even trying to justify it by pleading total ignorance ! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/161003015838?_trksid=p5197.c0.m619

Brilliant ! Thanks for the info

As an avid Omega/Breitling fan I know very little about Rolexes but I have a query that is bugging me. I have noticed that the Rolex "crown" on the crown of some models has a solid line under it while some have three dots. I have recently bought a brand new gen Tudor Prince Date (made by Rolex) which has the Tudor "shield" on the crown and this also has three dots under it. Is there any significance between those watches marked with the crown underlined with dots or a solid line? Thanks in anticipation of a flood of repsonses !

Not K2222 that's for sure !!!

He now admits to buying it in a "Turkish Jewellers" !!

I particularly like the bit where he/she says: "It has two buttons on the side Iv no idea what there for and can't see what they do"

Can anyone tell me what Breitling this is "supposed" to be? The model number says A13356 but that appears to be the number for a Chronomat Evo ! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BREITLING-Watch-/230843313798?pt=UK_Jewelery_Watches_Watches_MensWatches_GL&hash=item35bf556e86

I agree that he has probably stumbled across my post by doing a search and I have no problem with that (we all do it !), I also agree that he was probably unaware that RWG is a forum for replica watches. The point I was trying to make (badly) in my original post is that the way the internet works, it is a little worrying that people looking to buy a genuine watch on Ebay, (or any other site), can be unwittingly directed to a web site extolling the virtues of watches that are not "genuine".
-
Thanks for your advice, the listing expires very soon so I'll let it ride. I did actually contact the guy and said that it was not a good idea to post a link on Ebay which directs people to a site which is predominantly concerned with replica watches. He completely missed the point and said, "Oh, I didn't realise yours was a replica". Even after I explained mine was genuine, he still left the link - Hey Ho !

This UK seller, advertising a genuine Omega on Ebay, has found some photos I posted on RWG of the same watch and has placed a link to my post on Ebay !! Here's the Ebay listing: http://www.ebay.co.u...984.m1438.l2649 What a [censored] !!! I don't know how he found my post but it is a little worrying

Wearing my Airwolf dressed it its new clothes - a brushed Fighter bracelet.

I may be wrong but I don't think there are any (decent) reps of this watch out there. I think you'll find that www.watches.co.uk are just showing a photo of a gen. I used to own a rep Breitling Emergency, many years ago - it was pretty bad and weighed a ton !!
-
How cool is that !!!

Good question. The "standard" SMP Co-axial currently sells for £2400, so I'm sure the 007 50th LE will be more than £3000....

This looks cool - I want one !! I love the caseback ! hxxp://www.omegawatches.com/gents/product-presentations/seamaster-50years-james-bond

This one is quite shockingly bad !! And he's started the bidding at £1450 !! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230743546385 The tell tale signs (and there are lots !): Crappy pearl Poor CG Terrible caseback Wrong coloured bezel (too blue !) Wrongly positioned He valve Terrible font (especially the "007") on the dial No hour marker next to the date window Poor date font size Bent spring bars !!!!! Wrong bracelet E/Ls No serial No on lugs Poor scalloping of bezel The lume dot on the second hand is WAY too big !! I could go on but I've actually lost interest - it is just TOO horrific !! Think I need to report to this to Ebay....

Reps discussed on gen forum...almost balanced opinion!
Fireman_Fred replied to cougar1's topic in General Discussion
I totally agree, if there is one thing I have learned since I found RWG is how to spot a fake watch !! A few years ago now, I got ripped off with a (don't laugh - please !) brass Omega Seamaster !!! It looked OK until the shiny (chrome?) top layer started wear off and the brass started to show through. No wonder it felt heavy! To the untrained eye, you just can't tell from some of the photos on Ebay, some of which are deliberately out of focus... I have bought a number of gens from Ebay and I have got some good deals because I now know what to look for. I have also reported some terrible fake, (and I call them "Fake" as they were so bad), "Omegas" on Ebay. I do this because I don't want any other poor sap to buy another chrome plated brass Seamaster for £100, like I did ! -
Reps discussed on gen forum...almost balanced opinion!
Fireman_Fred replied to cougar1's topic in General Discussion
When I read these kind of comments made by people, who are essentially not too different from us "fake watch geeks", it occurs to me that they are missing the point. The majority of us are as passionate about owning a Rolex, Panerai, Omega etc, (albeit a replica), as those who are fortunate to be able to afford the "real thing". I actually feel more "fortunate" than them in many respects! In my time of collecting reps, I have owned probably 50+ replicas of some of the most expensive and desirable watches out there - I wonder how many gens they have been fortunate enough to own ! I have NEVER tried to pass off a rep as a gen and having "tried out" a particular rep which I have subsequently fallen in love with, I have gone out and bought the gen of the same. These gen geeks ought to realise that there are many rep owners who also own genuine watches and therefore possess the knowledge and understanding to be able to appreciate a Rolex, Panerai or Omega for what it is, even if it is a "copy" of the original.
