I knew it was a phong case and movement, (with gen sigma dial. crown tube and bezel, can't remember if the pushers were phong's or gen). I wasn't aware that he was claiming it to be anything other than that. I wouldn't have vouched for anything other than what I knew it to be.

I like that one more because it kind of celebrates the fact that it uses an old pocket watch instead of hiding it. Nice!

I didn't see the movement but that makes sense, since the crown was originally at 12. That never phased me, so by turning the movement so the crown is at 3 it moves the running secs to 9 naturally. Thanks ubi, great info!

No you can't really call these Patek's.. They are basically pocket watch movements put into a modern case and uses the original pocket watch hands and a new dial as claimed. To me the hands do not look original, the movement is not pictured so it could be anything esp since patek old pocket watches from that era all had seconds at 6 not 9 like the one pictured.. So I doubt that it is an old patek movement..

Well, someone out there is out 4300$.. Sad.. I'm a bit surprised that with a minimum of 3 complaints that the seller is up to no good ebay still didn't pull it. Can't say we didn't warn them, I wonder how long it will take the buyer to figure out what he bought.

I was in your shoes once Chiller, I wanted to sell my franken phong daytona for around 5500$. I sent a pm to the admin and waited. I recieved a call from watchmeister one day and had a great conversation about watches and life and by the end of it he was satisfied that I was not out to hurt anyone. It sucked to wait, but it's part of the process.. I really hope that you don't give up on us. You have built a gorgeous watch! And you are more than welcome here. The vetting process is in place to protect members, no offence to you at all.

Oh! Oops

Dw is located in china. He has a buddy helping him with eu customers, member Denimhead, who is in the uk...

Spinmaster uses the same watches, he gets them from david. He transforms them into proper functioning watches so weather someone buys one from dw and sends it to spin or just buys it direct from spin it's essentially the same thing. I could be wrong but that's what I've always understood

Awesome!

He has one dial, the one in the first pic and in my watch.. Just make sure he doesn't send one with the thick sundial print it looks bad

My quota was filled at 100%, I erased a bunch and now I can recieve Pm's. try erasing some of yours until your quota is less than 100%

The gen's don't fit unfortunately. You can trim the sides down slightly and they will fit but will be ruined for future gen use. I used his 571's with a gen band and it looks fine. I have many of his 571's I can spare a set

You will eventually ruin the gears inside, they weren't meant to be wound in that way. You should send it to spinmaster to have it dealt with and for the little money it costs to do it, why not. spinmaster91@gmail.com

I had one. It was really great. I decided to remove the plating from the case and sent it to spinmaster he worked his magic and made me a custom fantasy version. Its a great watch however I would ask for a pic of the dial, I checked his recent offerings and the dial I got with mine was way nicer than his current one. The print is too thick on the subdials

EXTREMELY jealous! I would kill to spend a day in his shop

Thanks! And I figure if I get the bezel and it turns out not to be gen, I can tell him there was a misunderstanding. He's a great guy. I honestly couldn't tell what he was saying on the phone lol

As some of you know I recently purchased a Franken 6538 from a great long time member earlier this week. I was planning on getting Minh to build me one but after seeing one for sale with his case I just couldn't help myself. I told Minh about my purchase and decided to buy a nice dial from him, I also saw that he had what looked like a gen 6538/5510 bezel and insert and retaining ring. Too good to be true?? You tell me.. He asked for 1200$ for the entire assembly including the spring the insert, retaining ring and of course the bezel itself. I asked if it was gen but couldn't figure out exactly what he was saying.. (Phone conversation) I think I kind of know my stuff by now so I agreed to buy it along with the dial and hands. I would expect to pay 350$ for a great rep phong bezel and insert, making this an 850$ mistake if I'm wrong. But if I'm right it's a good deal. I've seen the inserts sell for 1000$+ bezel alone 1500$+ and the retaining ring who knows. Anyhow, here's a pic of the 6538 in question, the new dial hands and bezel as well. I can't wait until Monday when I can bring it all to my local watchmaker and get it all swapped out. The first pic is the watch I am trying to make.
