  1. Hot gets cold, a nice timeless piece might be better. I know that you like patek why not a nice nautilus rep, they are stunningly gorgeous.
  2. I'd be willing to send him (md2020) my dial to practice with.. Are you game md??
  3. The dial is right around 1000$ so I'm guessing he would ask 1300$ for the case, I could be wrong though
  4. Thanks, I don't think I would bother him even if he was taking new business. I'm just curious to see the result. I love patina even extreme cases of it. I might send it off to rolexaddict and build a budget 6538 with it for fun.
  5. I put Minh's first dial (the cheap one sent to me by mistake) in the oven to 'see what happens' This was the result.. Not bad, anyone know someone who can do a vintage relume?
  6. He's weird, anyhow I know his son, it's the same stuff, the bezel on ebay is his bezel not the one in the pic on his site from 10 years ago.. If I were you I'd offer 650$ for the gen and see what happens.. U never know! Plus that will hold its value and even go up in value the phong one won't
  7. It's 350$ for phong's but for 800$ or best offer this gen would be a great add on!! I know the seller so you can trust him http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Rolex-Tudor-chronograph-steel-bezel-for-7031-7159-/380575723504?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item589c14aff0&_uhb=1
  8. I think the bezel from ebay, worldtimeinc is phong's son's account. Essentially it is phong's bezel.
  9. Have you emailed phong? His bezel is prob not the same as on his website, those are old pics. Ask him to send you an updated picture of it because his stuff is top notch
  10. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=SjEnOTjoctU
  11. Just came across this video, 7-8000 pounds?? I don't think so, one sold a year earlier for 72k... A little off lol https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=162615
  12. Lol, so true, that 6541 milgauss for sale last week was clearly a rep with a rolex movement and they we're clueless.. Someone started a thread on it and a couple people said that it was real some said not, ultimately they had no idea.
  13. Sorry, you're right I meant the price of Minh's pre assembled version would be 4200$
  14. Not cheap at all! My guess, 4200$ usd
  15. The man to talk to would be Freddy. He has built a gorgeous one. I think one or two other members have as well, but I can't remember who.. Minh sells a complete one pictured here, or you can buy just the dial from him and make your own.. http://vintagewatchesmq.com/minhquy/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=861&category_id=79&keyword=6542&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=1
  16. 6538 would be better! but I'm biased. It looks ok to me, the insert seems to be glued in and sloppily at that so that raises the question of why the insert doesn't snap into the bezel. Insert might be fake or the bezel but I'd say its the insert. Other than that the seller has good feedback and says if you have any questions to feel free to ask. So feel free
  17. By the way, I always buy my watches as just the head, so I can find my own perfect band (usually on vrm) that I'm happy with. In the small chance that the band matches the head though I would check the serial #, date the watch head and then compare it to the date on the clasp of the band. If its a match then buy it together if not make a deal with the seller to buy just the head and then you can find your perfect band separately.
  18. I've seen those end links on c&i us made bands. Rule of thumb is that if the rivets have holes in the center it's a us c&i, if the rivets are solid then it's Swiss made. I've seen that clasp before on a gmt so it's fine.
