  1. I'm happy to report that not only did my friend Mike finish the race, he finished in the top 30 with a team a purebred Siberian Huskies and absolutely demolished the previous record set by a purebred team, besting it by 28 HOURS! An my dog Ivy was with him for the entire journey so I can no say I own a record-breaking Iditarod dog!
  2. And that silly low crown position... Why did it take until now to figure that out and even then, why is no other case besides TC, Sean and SA3135 correcting this??
  3. I used to but it's become more my parents thing these days. They have close to 40 purebred Siberians including some incredible dogs from the old Kodiak Kennel lines which is Ivy's breeding. I've never done a race over 60 miles and have no real desire to take it as seriously as Mike Ellis is (it looks like he's on track to break the purebred record on his first Iditarod!) but it is really, really nice to be out on the sled, trusting your dogs to get you home safely and them trusting you to do the same...
  4. http://iditarod.com/eye-on-the-trail-monday-afternoon-traffic-at-unalakleet-by-terrie-hanke/ Ivy, the dog pictured is from my kennel!
  5. It will fit straight on but is it really an upgrade? I was under the impression the TC dial was very similar to the WM9 dials... I have a TC dial in my 16610 now but it's getting swapped for a gen as soon as my movement ring and new handset arrives.
  6. I just set my permissions so that only my watch-friendly facebook friends can see my watch pictures.
  7. Just one of the big ones from a dremel pack I had lying around.
  8. I used a much bigger bit very lightly to chamfer the holes. Enlarging them to accept gen spring bars was a whole separate process with lots of tears shed!
  9. I just used a bigger drill bit by hand. Works like a charm and there's little risk of overdoing it!
  10. Nailed it! Here's mine, hopefully this shows what I did: Thanks!
  11. Congrats on your granddaughter! The watch looks great! If it were mine (and what I did on my case) I'd round the top outside edges of the lugs a little more and then repolish the sides to a mirror finish. I like the look of a case that's been worn, refinished once and then put back in the drawer for a grandkid or something. The bracelet looks great but again, I'd brush it straight like a new gen for the same effect. Used, then redone. It's your painting though and I think it looks great no matter what you do! One thing though, your CGs look MUCH better than mine! Is the case really from the same source? PM me if you'd like...
  12. I love this datewheel! Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
  13. Very nice but I think you need a sapphire sub too!
  14. In the rep world, nothing seems to be quite right. TC's stuff is better then most but nothing beats gen! I will be using his hands on my two ETA-powered subs though (16800 and 16610T) and his movement rings make a great starting place for getting an ETA movement into a gen-style case. One major advantage he has over the other suppliers is that his parts are readily available for the most part. He was out of good dials last I checked but they don't fit these cases without some millwork anyway.
  15. Agreed on installation! I put a TC assembly on my 16610 case from the same supplier last night and it was a bear to install! It looks great though, especially with a gen flat 4 insert! I feel really good about the seal around the crystal though, it pressed on hard and won't be going anywhere or leaking anytime soon... Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
  16. Go gen! Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
  17. Their bezel is very good but more accurate for a modern 16610 IMHO. Probably the best option besides gen would be a TC bezel and retaining ring, it looks very good on 16800 or early 16610 build. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
  18. I have the same case too, from our favorite unamed supplier ;-) Ephry, how did you get the TC ring to fit without machining it? Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
  19. Man, a lot of transitional sub traffic on this board lately! Here's my 16800 matte dial build: http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/156811-got-vintage-16800-content/
  20. Sounds like a fun build! Check out my 16800 here: http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/156811-got-vintage-16800-content/ You might consider softening the case like I did as I highly doubt there's a 16800 alive today with edges that sharp! As for the 3135, I think it will fit but the dial will be a half-mm south of where it should be. (Approx.) When shaping the movement ring to fit my 2824 into the 16800 case I had to cut the top diameter down substantially further than I did to get it into a 16610 case.I've contacted TC about getting some movement rings, if you need I can get some extras and reshape them for the gen-spec case.
  21. This is the 16800 that I posted originally, just with some different hands. It has a vintage-style open 6/9 DWO that I found on here awhile ago. I'm waiting to hear from TC on getting more hands for the 16610 at which point I'll put the 16610 hands in this watch. They've been handled a bunch and look just the right amount of beat up for this build. The 16610 is getting a gen dial I I think, might as well have gen dials in both of my subs! I still have a lughole 16610 case that I'm not using, I might build that up as a tritium 16610 with the SA3135 that I took out of the Sean case sub. Or maybe that should be a TT???
