If you ever get a chance to take some measurments I'd love to see how they stack up to the cases currently available. It would be interesting to build a franken if a case could be made to fit...

I figured it had to be! If there was a rep that good out there and I didn't own it already I was going to cry! If you ever sell it, let me know... :-)

In around 2003 (and possibly a little before) they started introducing the SEL 93250 (Fliplock) bracelet to replace the hollow end-link 93150. This would also be accompanied with "SWISS MADE" SL dials and LEC crystals so these would be the last 16610s with lugholes. After that was the 16610T (according to the case engraving) with no lugholes but still the same fliplock clasp of old. When the 116610 was introduced in '08 (I think) the sub started wearing the new Glidelock clasp. This is exclusive of the 14060 no-date sub which has had lugholes and a hollow end-link 14060 for it's entire life. This will of course change with the introduction of the 114060 ceramic no-date sub but I don't know if they've completely phased out the 14060 yet. I hope that helps! ~Brendan

Great pictures! Details on the sub please?

Are all V5s 2836-powered? Wouldn't a 2824 be more accurate size and crown-height wise?
-
That looks like a Sean bezel... Can you compare the two?
-
You did seal it in there, right? On my lughole build I swapped tubes and forgot to O-ring and/or seal the tube in place the second time I installed it. It fogged up in the shower and I knew I was screwed, I ended up replacing the movement after that just for peace of mind. Those of us with Sean cases don't have the luxury of using an O-ring between the tube and the case but you can still seal it in with epoxy for the same effect.

With a modern monoblock crown (which would be correct for this build) that should be perfect. Nice work!

I'm subscribing!

I'd start by getting a good aftermarket retaining ring from ST or the like. It could be that the gen ring is bent now from rough installation. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2

The sean case does not have the relief so I installed tube with some epoxy to ensure a tight seal.
-
Just to be the fly in the ointment, are you sure it's the gen bezel you're using? My Sean bezel looks REALLY close and it will snap onto my gen ring but once there, it won't turn (or come back off for that matter...)

I think there's more likely to be variations in watchsmiths...

Looks amazing, nice work!

Gen tube should fit but the sean tube should also take a gen crown without any issue.
-
One of each?

You might have to use the Yuki 3135, as not all SA3135s will fit gen hands. As I responded in your other thread though, it will fit the TC case.
-
As long as you're not talking about the dressed up 2836 then yes, it fits.
-
That looks like a noob case with better CGs. No way that will fit a 3135 without breaking the stem though, that crown position is HORRIBLE!!!

PM'd as well about builds and movements...

With the cost of rolex parts these days I think it's nearly impossible to build a 16610 for $1000 if you want anything more then a gen insert and possibly a crown... I think I have about $1500 into my lughole sub and $2500 into my Sean case sub. I'm wearing the Sean sub now though and loving it, I think I'll keep it and try to find a more reliable movement for it. I love the reliability of the high-grade 2824 in my lughole sub but I want to be able to use my gen hands still...

It was mine! Nooooo!!!! It's all good though, all I was doing was ranting about gen v rep v franken v stfu already...
-
I'm just not seeing how those cases look any better then Yuki's, which are the same price and come with a custom serial number. It's $50 less without...
-
Oh yeah, its a blast! I think my biggest issue is with the SA3135 movement I used. It's good but I'm always worrying about it. I had high hopes for a serviced Yuki movement but they're still sold out. I thought about a gen movement but I realized that at that price point I should go all gen and have some resale value. I would never buy from eBay. I've stared at enough of these watches to see that most of the listed watches that seem affordable have had dials and hands swapped and such... I'd buy locally or off a gen forum for sure. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
