  1. That 4 looks right to me! It's the 16800 on the right that has the wrong insert... ;-)
  2. The bezel is fine for a 16800 but the rehaut is way too deep. No matter what you do it will still look like a 16610 so either sell it and buy something different or just build an older 16610 with hollow endlinks a 93150.
  3. The LV never crossed the lughole case line as far as I know. Why is the bezel wrong for a 16800? Post up some pics of the case so we can help!
  4. It's hard to get a carry permit in your state anyway... NH is not bad and I've had one or two issues here and there that have made me decide it's better to be prepared then not. I rotate between the the 1911, a USPc .40 and sometimes a Walther if I need something really small. The slim profile of the 1911 makes for better concealment but the USPc is a lot lighter and has a few more rounds.
  5. It's a 3035 case now although I haven't reshaped it at all yet. Gun is a Kimber Stainless Gold Match II .45ACP. It's stupid big but it's become my regular carry weapon now just based on how damn accurate it is! Plus, if I have to pull it, it's noticeable enough that it may keep the peace without me having to pull the trigger. But if I do have to pull it, I know the first shot is landing and landing hard... :-)
  6. I'm undecided on that, I imagine the yuki dial needs a lume job and feet repositioned and if I'm going that far I might rather go with a matte dial. I love the NDT COMEX dials but that seems like kind of a waste...
  7. The Noob factory SubC LV has a great dial but the wrong case. Buy a watch with the right case and swap the guts or just wait for V2 of the SA3135 LV. The LB and LN V2s are incredible, lacking only in the lume department.
  8. A few quick glamour shots with the new case and an LV Suisse band:
  9. Unless you want something custom built (and very costly) TC is your best option for a 16610 at this point. The latest round of SubCs seem quite good but they're still powered by that damn 2836 so the crown height is a huge tell for me! The SA3135 option that Angus sells is the best looking but lacks superlume and really needs a service before it can be considered a stable movement. Even then it should still be considered as the asian clone movement it is...
  10. I find the Sean crystal to be a little thick though. I think you're going gen anyway though!
  11. I, too, would like to know about the balance. Could it be swapped with gen or some ETA part? Mine has terrible amplitude and I feel like swapping for a better design would solve a lot of problems...
  12. That's great news! I'm excited to get to soften the case BEFORE I install all the little tidbits so I can give it a proper polish! The 3135 case has been such an on-going project that I've just sort of chipped away at it. The problem is now it looks like exactly that, chipped away... I need an opinion on something though: I have a gen bezel but it's seen better days, should I use the TC bezel so I have a "new" watch or should I just soften the case more to match?
  13. I hate to be the cynical one but I'm willing to bet nothing has changed beyond the stem size. The V2 should be able to take a gen 2135 (I think that's the number, I'll have to check my parts bin) stem based on the measurements Angus posted when it was announced.
  14. Haha, so we're starting at either end and meeting in the middle! I'm hoping the 3035 case will need less modification than the 3135 did (at least for my taste...)
  15. They were just asking everyone to report him. I emailed him, he should be back up soon he said. He was taking time off.
  16. This is what happened: http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?p=1752930 Those guys need to get a life sometimes...
  17. Well it looks like Raffles has been taken down buy The Man so I'll have to work with what I have now...
  18. I think that problem with short lugs plagues the 16610 case as well. I had to modify the crap out of my 580s to get them to fit but they were really cheap... I milled down a TC dial and movement ring to fit but it was still a little shoddy. I suspect it will be a much easier fit in the 3035 case thanks to the extra clearance. Ephry73 got a TC dial to fit without any modification so if that's the case for me as well I may pick up another dial just so I can have a clean one in this project. Certainly an early dial is on my wishlist (I have a silver DWO with open 6 and 9 already) but for now the MO is get it together, get it working and see what fits.
  19. As some of you may know I have always been a fan of lugholes and have had an ongoing Submariner project for awhile now. It's based on an ST case and after several movement incarnations and some drastic case reworking I wound up here: Bezel, insert and crown are genuine, dial and hands are TC and it's powered by a high-grade 2824 movement I found on ebay. I love this watch imensly but it's just not there yet... And so, having to order some parts for some watch repairs I'm long overdue on, I found myself ordering the ST 3035 (16800) case earlier this evening. I'm not sure yet what the endgame will be but it be nice to have the two cases side-by-side for a comparison. I already have a super-franken 16610 anyway, I think it's time to get a little vintage! I'll update this thread as parts start to arrive and the build goes together. Thanks for looking! ~Brendan
  20. Man, that watch is epic! Have we finally solved the SubC issues...?
  21. It could be, I had a crown that was supposed to be gen that sat out like that. Now I use a gen monoblock 704 that looks a lot wider then the gen vintage 703 I have on my lughole case but both sit in deep like they're suppose to. The ironic part, I broke my Sean crown early on (broke a stem off inside it) and after ordering the 704 discovered that the two are nearly identical...
  22. You should have kept the Sean tube, it fits a gen crown. Every aftermarket tube I've used has worked fine so it's strange that yours didn't work. Sorry you're having so much trouble, man!
