  1. I'm trying the maxi hands, I love them but they're still too white for the dial. I need some TC hands! Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
  2. It could also have been bumped in shipping. I've had this happen a few times, the first was solved by changing stems, the second by blowing some air into the crown tube and the third by resetting the keyless works. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
  3. One of the key features of the 16800 is the shallow rehaut though so make sure you find a case that works! Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
  4. Looks great but that's an oyster bracelet ;-) Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
  5. Here's the 16800 with my newly reworked Sean Case 16610 super-franken:
  6. So, maxi hands... Yes? Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
  7. Here's a few more phone pictures with a better today insert, let me know what you think Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
  8. Thanks for the love, guys! Specs: ST case, reshaped and softened Gen Bezel and insert (I have several flat-4 inserts I've been trying, I like the faded one on there in the pics but I've since swapped out for a NOS Lumi one so the all the whites match.) Gen crown and tube Unknown crystal, much better than Clark, could be pre-LEC gen? Puretime/TC bracelet combo, heavily modified. Refinished Gen dial (marked Singer, I suspect it's a newer dial redone in the old style) with gen feet chopped and glued directly to a heavily modified TC movement ring. (I have a second one I just in case...) All powered by a high grade 2824 fitted with a vintage-style open 6-9 DWO sourced from these forums. I still need to space the dial off the movement slightly, the DWO is hanging up on date changes and sometimes needs a flick or a little manual setting. I have spacers on the way though!
  9. But if it was a gen it would have been covered by your insurance! That alone is worth it for me in the long run, $2k in a franken is dust in the wind if it's stolen but $5k in a gen is all coming back to you when you have papers to give to your insurance company!
  10. Nice guys! I actually thought about using a maxi hand on mine too, for night functionality... Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
  11. Hey guys, I figured I'd share a few quick snaps of my latest creation, a matte dial 16800! Its almost done, there's a few little kinks I'd like to work out but its together and running WELL within COSC Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
  12. Correctime, you're starting to get under my skin and I'm looking at gen 3035s now... :-) Maybe that could be because I just landed a refinished gen matte dial...
  13. I'm almost 100% sure 3035s are CCW...
  14. I thought the 3035 sets the time CCW and the 3135 sets clockwise?
  15. Having the same case as you, also with a gen bezel I have an opinion: I will never buy a 3035 for this case because of the reverse hand setting direction. I can get a 2824 to keep time just as well and when I finally am happy with the dial/hands/dwo arrangement and everything is working smoothly I will be satisfied with my franken. I reshaped the case, it has all the gen add-ons and it looks right. But it's still a rep. IF, however, I had a gen 3035 movement and dial already I would not think twice about getting this case to house them in. The same reshaping and gen bezel/insert/crown/tube would obviously apply still and then I would consider it a gen with a replacement case. Like a car with a salvage title. Back to the original poster: when it comes to being called out it's not the watch that those in the know are going to be looking at. Your shoes, your clothes, your car, your age... If you don't fit the image then it's going to be assumed to be fake. I get the impression from your posts that you're younger, yes? In my mind, anyone under 35 with a Rolex on is suspect and I will be taking a MUCH closer look at the watch for tells. I will also be reading the person wearing it and based on that alone, might be able to tell if it's a rep.
  16. I know I'm a special case but for me a rep will never, ever equal a gen. Ever. Reps are great, the reps a build are even better. I like them because I get to fiddle around with stuff and get them as close to gen as I possibly can but there will always be something that bugs me. I'm sure I'd have the same problem with a gen but at least then I know it's always been like that and everyone else's is like that too. Just so know know I'm not talking out of my a$$, I have more then a gen sub's worth invested in my two hyper-franken subs and I'm still not happy. I've built a few TCs and they don't even come close. They're still great reps though!
  17. I'm talking about the BP maker ceramic offerings though...
  18. Does anyone have any pics of a BP hulk they could post up?
  19. I have an extra gen crown in my toolbox (the proper 704 monoblock one too!) that would really set that watch off! I've been looking at some pictures of the gen and it honestly doesn't look like the crown guards will need that much modding, just a tube that pushes the crown out half a mm or so and a gen crown and you'd have a solid watch!
  20. Haha, I like your point! Plus, this thread has me all hot and bothered: http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/154790-trustys-ceramic-black-submariner-arrived-wow/
  21. Hi Guys! I'm thinking it's time to pull the trigger on a SubC now that the BP maker subs seem to have come up to my standards. They will not be without mods I'm sure but I need to decide what to start with! I'm looking for opinions from you guys who have seen the BP Ceramics: Which is better, the Hulk or the Black sub? I already have a 16800 and a 16610 so an 116610 would be a nice compliment to it's two older brothers but on the other hand, St Paddy's is coming up and being a fiddle player I have several gigs that I could wear my Hulk to! So what do you guys think, Black or Green? Thanks! Brendan
  22. The SA3135 movement (another asian 3135 rep) is only available in watches at this point. Both versions (this and the SA3135 version) have their issues but with a service they should be reasonable solid.
  23. I strongly doubt there is any ceramic case on the market that will easily accept gen parts and even if it would with modding, why? Like Ruprekt said, you're looking at nearly the cost of the gen just in parts alone. Don't forget you'll also need a gen dial and hands to fit the movement, there's another $1000 easily...
  24. That is horribly fake, you need to send it to me for authentication! Kidding, fantastic watch, wear it well!
