  1. The color of the white dial is very close, the main difference is the depth of the guilloche. I'm still not certain that the gen has AR coating, maybe just on the inside, or it could be that the sapphire crystal is much higher quality and hence clearer and less reflective. If there is AR on the gen, it is colorless. Anyhow, single or double AR should improve the replica quite substantially.

It never seemed to me that there was the blue hue on the gen crystal...that's why I never realized there was any AR on it. It seems that any reflections on the rep would be more obvious on the black dial rather than the white.

  2. Yes, but a few members have purchased that watch, and reported that it is currently coming with a black date wheel. You could try asking Angus if he'll be able to get you one with the white date wheel, but he might just end up getting you the cartel version instead.

Just to confirm, Angus and Puretime are two separate dealers, right?

  3. I originally used the standard mic on the headsets BUT found that it was only strong enough to reliably detect the loudest of my movements .. A25J, A6497, etc .. so I bought this great little condenser mic for around $20 on sale ..

    NewEgg.com microphone

Just to maintain reality, this is not the same as buying a Time-grapher .. KELLO is notoriously twitchy and the author only updates it twice a year, so far. I pull the case back off the watch, and place the mic right next to the balance assembly.

Interesting. This is all new to me - fun fun!

  4. I use Kello app for the ipad, and regulate it electronically. My Fiddy is stunningly accurate (+3 sec) .. you probably should not ask a forum watchsmith to make sure they regulate your watch to +/- 3 seconds, since it will only anger them

    Your Mileage May Vary

I am unstoppable when comes to regulation of my reps smile.gif Usually, i stop regulating when:

    - it slows/advances 1-2 secs a day and...

    - i found special way of placement the watch for the night (i.e. dial down) when it does opposite to the day's inaccuracy.

This way I can narrow inaccuracy down to +/- 3 secs a week.

For regulation pursposes I use Kello APP from AppStore (iPhone)

I seriously start regulating the watch after min. 6 weeks of constant use - after "break in" period.

I've never heard of Kello. I think I'll need to go check it out now!

  5. OK then. Two years between watches. Finally I found the one.

Skeptical of course. But after all the great reviews and photos, I bit the bullit.

Man oh man is this a beautiful watch. Don't care what any of the nay sayers think.

Rep compared to gen and on and on. Reviewed dozens of photos...gen and rep.

This rep is as good as it gets IMO.

I have the proverbial small wrist...6.75. This case and bracelet fit GREAT.

Fabulous fit and finish. Dial screws fit perfectly. Great clarity. The dial is very detailed.

Mr. AP might find a few flaws, but like I said...THIS rep is a winner.

Check out a few of my amatureish wrist shots. Even they look good.

    Like diver's? Get it.

Thanks to Josh for great communication and service. He has implemented a new presentation on his site.

You can hardly go wrong. Ordered on 9/6..received the watch in Conus on 9/10. 4 days shipping???are you kiddin me.

    Yea!!!!!!!!!!

Beauty. Some people have said that they had issues with the second crown at 10. What are your thoughts on it?

  6. Honeybear is my handle on RWI and RWG. I posted similar photos here:

which was a comparison between the gen and the cartel version... Actually this particular watch was a mix of the cartel dial with too short second hands, and a somewhat lower quality bracelet, in that the shiny bevels between the links was at the wrong angle. The crown was also too thick, the Maltese cross and the arabic numerals were too small. I've since sold this, and replaced it with a better version, which I purchased from puretimewatch.com:

It seems to be the Silix-Prime version, but without the double AR. This is a photo of this version:

The black dial version apparently comes with a black datewheel at the moment, which is incorrect. You'll also need the AR treatment more urgently with the black dial version. There is a wonderful comparison of the SIlix and cartel versions here:

Actually, the black version they sell seems to have a white datewheel? At least from the site pics.

Thanks, buddy. I read through your awesome comparison previously, great write-up.

So would you recommend getting the silver dial, due to the datewheel color? But I'm concerned the silver is not close to the gen color...

  8. PPN,

It depends on what you want.

If you are planning on sending it to the service center, then it won't pass.

But if you are going to wear it to impress the public, it is fine.

I have a 3717 Spitfire and the AR is quite appropriate.

It is a light, and perfect for the dial.

I also have the IWC saphire and was wondering why I spent so much for it ... but it is VERY nice.

The 3717 case is one of the most accurate reps.

If the flaws bother you that much, I can set you up with IWC parts.

Everything is fixable on this watch, it is greatly improved from the first version.

If you like it, there's not a good reason not to get it.

Case in point, the picture you posted on another thread.

Perhaps you have a point. How difficult is it to get the datewheel modded with the correct font? How much would something like that cost (ball park)?

I ordered one last week. Could't really make out the AR from the qc pics. Will let you know how it is when I've received it.

I'd appreciate that. Who did you buy from, if I may ask?

  9. +/- 6 secs /day will work for me. rather than have it shipped back, have an expert calibrate it locally.

will it be in rotation with your other watches?

Yup, most probably it will be in rotation. But sometimes I do go on trips and need the watch to be able to perform for a week consistently.

    On average a movement is considered accurate if at 24 hours has a variance between + / - 7 sec and + / - 4 seconds. A chronograph if has a variance between + / - 15 sec and + / - 7 seconds.

    Good info, thanks.

  10. Since you are going to have to have this serviced anyway, why not let an expert calibrate it after the service, and stop messing around with a dealer "qc check".

I'd stop regulating it when I got to +3 seconds a day.

+3s/d would be pretty ambitious, wouldn't it? I mean, I'd be happy with anything under 10. I'm not sure if A7750 movements are designed to be able to reach those accuracies.

  11. I have the blue dial, and I think it is a bit off, It could be a bit darker, and more bluish, but it's okay. Get the black dial if it bothers you.

That's what I thought too. The blue that is offered in the reps looks almost turquoise, at least from the website pics. It's really too bad, the blue is really the most iconic model, in my opinion.
