Why can we get an EXP II with the correct hr markers?
By-Tor replied to boston21's topic in The Rolex Area
RoninQ is right... they are "greyish" liquorice black... but black nevertheless. I know... my white franken Explorer II has genuine dial and I have owned the white rep version. The noob version isn't as bad as this but the markers are still too light and transparent. Period. -

Actually they DID make the rehaut deeper on the newer ExpII version. It's identical depth with my gen 16710... just perfect. Keep in mind that ExpII and 16710 have shorter rehaut depth than Sub. The clasp engraving is bad, etched coronet is too big and the default crown is shite. Other than that, the black version is absolutely amazing. The bezel, for example is 99,9% perfect. I have no idea why they refuse to make a good white version. -

There are some white dial ExpII's with black hour markers. But other than that, those reps are absolute crap. The Noob factory version is an excellent replica... very accurate and the rest can be done with mods, but the white version simply doesn't cut it. The markers look all wrong. Some people say that the dark grey gun metal markers are "almost black" but I guarantee you... they're nothing like the gen. Nothing has changed... you need to find the extremely rare initial rep version (from 2005-2006) which takes gen dial. Not an easy task. This article has the specs and data. -

Happy New Year everyone... been a bit busy and haven't had time to be much on the Internet. Wearing my favorite Omega today.

Either way, that's a terrible thing to hear. I wish him all the best.

Casio replicas are probably next. Wonder if I could buy a $200 replica of a $100 Casio somewhere... Who has the best G-Shock?

My "el cheapo" GMT project finally finished... almost!

Wow... that's a cool one. One of the nicest 1675 reps I've seen. You managed to find a GREAT aftermarket insert. 1675 has very characteristic fonts and colors. Red should be darker and more "maroonish" than on 16710 and your watch nails it. Congrats! PS: The gen 1675 uses a 5.3mm crown. If it wouldn't leave gaps inside the crown guards it could be a nice addition. -
The watch in the (terrible) pictures looks genuine.

Wow... that's a crazy price for a Rolex Date. Was it so expensive because it has the Oysterquartz-style bracelet?

It's a rep of this -
You know, I noticed the same thing. My K-series GMT definitely has that edge... and so do most other modern Rolexes. Could it be that they remove the bevel when they polish the case? PS: Enjoy JoJo... great watch!

Just put on this classic rep.

I thought that it was pretty slow year for me. I purchased only 4 watches. First was the WM9 Sub v2. Yeah, they have upgraded the crown position, etc. but this Sub is so incredibly close to the real thing that it's good enough for me. I doubt I'll ever need another Sub, especially after I managed to find almost perfectly fitting WM9 v1 SELs for it. Sold my rep Seamaster (which I worn pretty regularly during the past 4 years). I upgraded it to genuine article. Bought the watch from a forum friend. What needs to be said about the Bond Seamaster... it's like the Sub... a classic. Another upgrade... sold the rep Aquaracer and bought the gen. Again from a fellow forum member. It's an incredibly cool looking watch and they haven't replicated the 41mm version anyway (which has always been my favorite). Probably the favorite watch in my collection. Traded my GMT IIc replica to this BTR with another member. It originally came with a strap but I bought the bracelet later. The subdial spacing isn't correct but quality wise this is one of the best reps I have ever seen. I actually prefer it over the white Discovery. Then I sold my rep SFSO and looking for a blue dial genuine (from EU). I'm not kicking tires... ready to purchase. Anyone selling?

@Redwatch: Great pics of the Fish! For me: Winter time = winter watch.

Excellent! It's just mind blowing how much nicer the 42mm version is. Especially on a bracelet. Enjoy this awesome franken D!

What's on your wrist today? I'm starting my day very early with this bad boy.

Many members come and ask for good white Explorer II. There simply isn't one. The only good replication of Explorer II (case, dimensions, etc.) is this particular black model from the "Noob factory". The white one has dark grey "gun metal" hour marker surroundings. The gen dial has raven black surroundings and the white rep dial is worlds apart. You can shoot the watch from a favorable angle to make them look "blackish" in the pictures but when you see it in the flesh, you'll be disappointed for sure. I know because I owned 2 of them. There are, however, replicas of white Explorer II with correct raven black markers, but the reps themselves are pure garbage. Junk. Crapola. Cheap shit. I don't get it... why these facts are so difficult to swallow? Building a franken with genuine dial is the only solution... and the new rep versions won't accept genuine dials. So you either get the black dial version or buy the gen (if you want a good Explorer II, that is).

That's amateur stuff guys. We had such thread in the old RWG (the original one) and I saved these priceless beauties. Some Rolexes. You know what they say... save the best for last (I recall either of these two was crowned champ) This full gold Daytona is still unbeatable, imho. -
Thanks Nikki. Appreciate the offer but I have no probs getting them from UK. You can usually negotiate about the shipping price.

It's really unfortunate that this model of ExpII isn't available without the rehaut engraving any longer. It's a serious downgrade. The old one that me and jmarin have has become kinda collectible already. I really love my black ExpII. Initially I was only interested in white as well, but lately I've been wearing the black version more.

I'm not absolutely sure... I actually forgot. But I think it's 6mm. The exact same crown as on my gen GMT II. Are there 7mm genuine twinlock crowns? I recall the 1675 and 16750 use smaller 5.4mm twinlock (or was it 5.6mm...)

bklm1234 is the best because he knows exactly what small mods are needed (like readjusting the crystal, etc.) and he performs those for the buyers. Quality control. And there are dozens of different replica models of Rolex but bklm gets only the 1 best model of each. There are many examples that buyers receive different watch as pictured... it's not intentional but some dealers don't know what they're selling... they just ship whatever their supplier sends them. White version is a no-no. The replica dials are no good. bklm sells the "Transformer" GMT II, which is quite good. Article. It's not as accurate as black ExpII but very nice still... "Noobmariner" is very famous replica. It's a rep of 16610 Submariner which was quite a sensation when it came out a few years ago. Good Explorer II's and GMTs come from this same factory... that's why people call them "Noob" versions. It's a factory that makes the best Rolex replicas. "Franken" means a watch with genuine parts. My white Explorer II has genuine dial, for example... thus, it's "franken". You need plenty of skill and source for genuine watch parts to make a franken. It's both expensive and time consuming.
