  1. Is that writing on the dial between the 7 and 6 and between the 6 and 5? Also not sure how easy of a fix it would be to get the faux Copper Sulfate capsule under the dial instead of on it. It would require drilling a hole into the dial and who knows how well the dial coating will hold up. You might get paint chipping off on the edges of the hole you try to drill.
  2. I have a question. On the gen 5002 and 5004 where is the PR needle supposed to point when fully charged? In the pictures above the PR needle is pointing to the 7 is that where it is supposed to be when fully charged or on the 5002 should it point to the top of the "box" where the 7 is and on the 5004 should it be close to the "I" on DAYSI which might negate the inaccuracy of the "I" being so close to the DAYS??
  3. Yeah that what I thought. My problem is finding a watchsmith that will test it for me.
  4. So which is it? We have 2 gen Indy 500's one with "Tag Heuer" engraved in the side of the case and one without?? Is there this much variation even in gens?
  5. Man that is great. If he manages to get two just PM me and we can settle up.
  6. THat is the EXACT strap I am talking about. Please keep me posted on what you come up with I would sure love to get my hands on one.
  7. Ming you are talking about the strap I linked to you are trying to get or a rep of the gen rubber strap??
  8. Just wondering if anyone has found a cheaper alternative to the Gen black strap with orange stitching for the 45.5mm PO. The gen is around $200 for such a simple strap I can't believe it is so hard to find a cheaper alternative. This is as close as I have come to it and I would have to change the stitching from white to orange myself. Sport Style Strap (Synthetic Front and Calfskin Backing) Black w/ Heavy White Stitching #RBV-2104-A http://www.longislandwatch.com/Bands/Watch_Bands_Sport.htm
  9. Nice write up. Looks like they have corrected a good bit of the flaws on the new $128.00 version. The only thing I can't tell about is the Tag Heuer engraving on the side of the case. http://www.jpc8118.com/tg10016-indy500-chronograph-black-swiss-quartz-p-1425.html However the big date version of this watch does have "Indy 500" engraved in red letters on the side of the case. http://www.jpc8118.com/tgi50010002-indy-date-chrono-ssss-black-swiss-p-6509.html Not sure if that is correct or if it is supposed to be engraved Tag Heuer as well??
  10. My ISP is Cox Communications. I am at the office so I don't have a way to access the gateway IP or the subnet mask #'s right now. I could get them this evening for you Nanuq. ETA: No switch involved. The cat 5 goes from the modem to the Internet port on the back of the router. The iPhone and laptop connect via wireless and the desktop and X-box are connected to the LAN ports. On the front of the router there is a light that lights up green when there is a good internet connection. Unless I unplug the Cat 5 coming off of the modem the light is green showing a good connection. If I unplug the cat 5 coming from the modem it goes red. The owners manual does not even show you what the button and blue light are for.
  11. It shows my iPhone as connected to the router. For example it lists the iPhone, X-Box, Laptop, and Desktop as all being connected to the router and shows the IP that the router gives to all of these devices like 255.XXX something or other. The iPhone and the Laptop both show that they are connected to the router, never checked the X-box or desktop but there is no need as hooking the laptop up to one of the cables coming out of the router shows that the internet signal stops at the router. So the signal comes from the cable company to the modem, if you hook directly to the modem you can get online, if you hook the modem to the router and try to get online from the router there is no internet connection. The blue light, I had thought about bluetooth but that SOB is bright and flashes constantly if you touch it. To give you an idea, all of my structured wiring is inside of a hallway closet. If I hit the button and make it flash blue you can see the blue light coming out from under the door enough to light up about a 10' stretch of my hallway floor. I don't think it is bluetooth as once you hit it and it starts lighting up you can hit it till the cows come home and it won't go off until you unplug the router and plug it back in. Also I never fooled with this button until last night where as the router has been acting up since Monday.
  12. I can get the net on my iphone but not through wireless. If I try to get to the net on the iphone while it is trying to get the signal from my router its a no go. If I go into settings and turn wireless off the iphone will get online using 3G. I have not changed any equipment prior to this all happening. Everything was the same last week(when it was working perfectly) to this week(when everything is going to hell) so it can't be an equipment/compatibility issue. The problem lies with my router itself(broken) or its settings(mysteriously being changed). I think the easiest solution for me would be to reset the router and go from there. Worst comes to worst I think I have an older wireless router laying around that I could always try to use.
  13. LOL Funny but that was the first thought that crossed my mind but my digital cable was still on and they are all through the same company. I did want to verify which is why I hooked the laptop directly to the modem and it went straight to the internet and any website I typed in. THe problem is def. with the router.
  14. No the same lap top I have been having. I do not have my router set up for MAC filtering. The router shows my laptop, X-Box, iPhone, and desktop are all setup to work with the router. Like I said everything connects to the router without a problem, but for some reason the router will not allow any devices to access the internet through it.
  15. I can access my routers settings, log info, ect. ect. All the lights light up like they should, the router shows that it has an internet connection it just is not allowing anything connected to the router to access the internet. I do not broadcast my SSID and my WAP password is 20 something charecters composed of all printable charecters so the chances of someone hacking into it and changing the settings are slim to none. No one in my house has the PW to the router to get into it to change the settings so there is no chances of that either. I guess I will try a reset and set it all back up again tonight
  16. I think it was the right product at the right time backed by the right advertising. Like anything else once you carve out your place in the market it takes alot for another product to take your place. Once they got a foot hold all they had to do was stay one step ahead, even if it was just a baby step. I can't remember what version I had gotten first but it worked well and the user interface was pretty easy. Unlike some mp3 players of the time I was able to seperate my music into folders, much like having individual CD's vs. a big storage box of music. My brother had a Sony of some sort at the time and the only sense of order he could control was the order of the songs. There were no seperating folders ect. like my iPod had. Here is another big selling point for iPod, car integration. Once car stereos started coming out with the ability to control the ipod from the in dash head unit it was over for everyone else. I put an Alpine stereo into my car that could control the ipod, which was right when the ipod video came out, so I sold my old ipod and bought an ipod video and haven't looked back. When my wife wanted an mp3 player I bought her an iPod and got a stereo with nav system and ipod controls to put into her car. Just to show you how behind the times other makers are. Sony makes a host of car audio products, and they make MP3 players. You can buy a Sony radio to put into your car that will control an ipod but you can't get a Sony radio that will control Sony's own MP3 players. Now you can buy a brand new car that already has the ability to control the ipod from the factory radio, and for your house you can buy a stereo reciever that can control the ipod.
  17. I have a D Link DIR 615 router at home and up until Monday or so everything was working great. Now the thing is giving me problems. My laptop shows 100% signal and that it is connected to the router, however the internet is a no go. I pulled the cable out of the router and plugged the lappy directly into the cable modem and it goes right to the internet so I know my modem is sending the internet to the router. I pulled the cat 5 cable out of my X box and plugged it into the laptop and did not get the internet so I have established that the net is getting to the router but the router is not passing it along via lan or wireless. I have thought about hitting the reset button on the router and getting it back to factory defaults and setting it all up again but not sure if that would fix the problem. There is also a button on the side of the router that if you press it it starts blinking blue and the only way I have figured out how to stop the light from blinking is to unplug it, wish I knew what that button was for. So I have rebooted(not reset) the router, I have unplugged the cable modem for 5 min in order to reset it. Neither has worked. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  18. Nice watch, would look even better with a nice DLC coating I would however advise against anything that has a bracelet. Bracelets have 2 distinct problems: 1. Pins and screws that can break or become loose and fall out, 2. You can not open a bracelet completely to attach it to your gear if need be. I can't count the number of times I slid the strap of my G Shock through a piece of molle webbing to get it off the wrist for some reason or another while still leaving it easily accessable if need be.
  19. I had thought about that, but I think I am going to go with the 3573.50 which has the display caseback. I think that would be far more interesting to a kid to see the movement than to have the GMT dial. On the other hand I could always go with the 40th Aniversary model and buy a gen display caseback for it?? Decisions...Decisions...
  20. Hey Omni how did you like the Mogo? Been thinking about picking one up.
  21. Cheif, I am currently looking into buying a gen Speedy right now myself so my vote is for you to go for it. I had about 10 different gens on my list from Tags to Breitlings but decided to go with the Speedy. My son just made a year and I was thinking I would really like to have a watch to give to him when he got older. After thinking about it what better choice is there than the Speedy? The design has been around since the 60's and it is still an eye catcher, not some fad that will be out of style in 15 years. There is also the history of the Speedy being the only watch worn on the moon and such, which I am sure would draw his attention once he starts learning about the moon landings in school. I just figured what better watch to turn my son into one of us, and then pass it onto him.
  22. I am no expert but from what I gather. The lume on the min hand that was circled looks grainy instead of smooth. The "Original Gas Escape Valve" text looks too engraved and rough. The numbers on the bezel are either too thin or too fat, not sure which. The date window is the bevel on the window which has been discussed alot here. I am figuring the 11 o'clock lume marker just looks bad. Can't say what is wrong with the engraving between the lugs or the circled hour hand on the lume shot. Like I said I am in now way an expert but in researching the DSSD this is what I am figuring, if I am wrong hopefully someone will correct me so that I know what to look for in the future.
  23. Other than REMF, you won't find many Luminox or Marathon watches attached to boots on the ground. The inability to controll when it lights up and when it does not is something that could comprimise your position and in effect your life. The reason G Shocks are proven to be tough as tanks is because of their extensive use. While many other watches could probably be just as tough they have not been used enough to find out 100% like the G Shocks have been. For refrence:
  24. Ordered about 5 or 6 straps from them before they had a spot here in the dealers section. Every time I have ordered it was shipped the same day and arived on my desk within 3 days. Would not worry a bit about ordering from them they are 110% legit.
  25. Thanks for the compliment. I must admit after re-stitching this one I am kind of wanting to make my own strap from scratch now. The only problem I really had was how to tie it off. I wound up just putting a knot on it but the knot is across the top closest to the lugs so it deos not sit on my skin enough to irritate me. I will have to work on that the next time out. I really wish I could find some embosed leather that has like a diamond pattern in it, something to make it sort of resemble kevlar or something along thoes lines.
