Well I know the talk here was the dial color on the Brown SOH was not true to gen, looks pretty close in that comparison pic....
-
Sorry I just have to ask, any reason this is coming out on 4/1....sensing an April Fools joke here.
-
Thats what I thought too but looking at this pic You can clearly see that the markers and hands on the blue dial are silver.I would have figured all of the pictures were taken in the same way?? Also if you look at post #5 in this thread, mojako snapped a couple of shots at the AD. The black dials hands and surrounds look pretty dark compared to the ones on the watch next to it. Kind of confusing with the way lighting plays games.

Looking at Tag's website and the above pictures of the gen. It looks like the marker surrounds and hands on the gen black and silver/white dial are black, while on the blue dial they are steel. The reap has steel surrounds on all of the dials. Has anyone seen a gen black dial in the flesh that can say if the surrounds are steel or black? I am really liking the black dial with the gold bezel version, but the color of the surrounds is a pretty big give away.

I used the rep rubber strap on my UPO with gen spring bars. The spring bars did not bend. Don't get me wrong it was a PITA to get it on but it keeps the rubber tight to the case.
-
Are you talking about the PO strap? The rubber strap for my UPO ddoes not have a [censored] on the bottom of it. I hat to use thich spring bars to keep it tight to the case. Do I have the v1 rubber strap? If so other than the [censored] is the v2 any different? My rubber strap feels a little too plastic but if it is all thats out there I guess I am stuck with it. ETA: don't know why it is censoring f l a n g e??

Trying to figure out, how does the 1/10th scale work. I get that you rotate the red point of the bezel to line up with the stopped second hand, I do not know how they came to stop at the 8 mark in that video though. Also is it safe to assume since the calibre 36 is 36,000 vph vs. the 7750's 28,800 that the 1/10th counter would pretty much be useless, or atleast not accurate?

Thanks guys, I think I am going to go middle of the road here with the medium. If I need coarse I could always just apply more pressure to the medium pad...or go to automotive wet/dry sandpaper. For fine I should be able to play with the amount of pressure I use or use a polishing cloth to buff and get a finer effect.

I am ordering a few things that I need so I figured I would throw one of thoes pads in that is used to re-finish a brushed SS finish. I noticed they sell them in fine, medium, and coarse. Anyone know which would be the best one to get??

Is this case a decent starting point for anything? http://www.siswatch727.com/index.do I would prefer a ti Pam with date I guess the 091 would be the logical choice but it seems there are some pretty obvious flaws on the dial i.e. lume markers and the distance between the sticks and the lume markers. If I could get closer with a no date I guess I would rather accuracy over a date window.

By "shocking" do you mean in a good way or a bad way? I am guessing the latter but just want to make sure.

I know this is along the lines of the best sub and I apologise. I have searched and read as much as I could. I come to an answer then stumble onto another post that contradicts everything else and puts me back at square one. So rather than which is best maybe I could just get a general feeling for the top 2 or 3 then do the research from there to come to my own conclusion.

I ran into him at the movies one night. Funny part is I noticed a titanium Pam first, then looked up and realized who was wearing it.

Not a clue what they are worth, if anything at all. Neither of mine work right now. The black one just needs a battery, the white face one I am not really sure. I have considered trying to get it fixed to give to my son when he gets older(not even 2 yet lol) I figured it was my first real watch so might as well be his.

Its an old Gucci quartz Watch. I have 2 of them(not exactly like yours), they were out in the early 90's. I got mine for my 8th grade graduation from my parents. The second one was my grandfathers. IIRC they were about $450.00-$500.00 new at the time and my mom got them from Macy's Here is a quick and dirty shot of my 2. My dad also has/had one that is the same style as my black one but the dial was the same color as yours.

Are EMS shipments still considered express in CONUS?
jdkno replied to jdkno's topic in General Discussion
Well I guess they must consider them expess here in the CONUS. My package was outbound from customs yesterday morning an delivered toy office today. From San Fransisco to Louisiana overnight has to be express. -
I just recieved my B&R 02 in PVD. The sticker on the crystal and the one on the casebaxk came off just fine. I am strugling with the ones on the ends of the crowns. I tried a razor and a toothpick bur they don't seem to want to budge. I am assuming they are stickers as they are shiny and the rest of the watch is matte. I am scared to go after them harder because I don't want to scratch the PVD coating. Anyone have a trick to get them off. More importantly anyone with a PVD B&R 02 that can confirm there really is stickers there and that the ends of the crowns are not shiny.

USPS shows it's Express mail as being overnight to most places. Once USPS takes possesion of an EMS package do they treat it as Express mail still or just regular mail?

the biggest problem I see is the batons on the rep dial are one piece where the gen looks like 2 pieces so you can see the color of the dial in the space between the two pieces of each baton marker. I guess it could be fixed with paint for the color but the depth of the groove would be off vs. the gen. Guess I'll hold out for V2 or maybe V3??

Thanks for the input. I have not had too much time to fool with it but I did order one of those colapsable light boxes and a small flexable tri pod so I guess we will see how it goes as I get time to fool with it. Here is my favorite lani Lt. Aldo Raine: You didn't say the goddamn rendezvous was in a fu@kin' basement. Lt. Archie Hicox: I didn't know. Lt. Aldo Raine: You said it was in a tavern. Lt. Archie Hicox: It is a tavern. Lt. Aldo Raine: Yeah, in a basement. You know, fightin' in a basement offers a lot of difficulties. Number one being, you're fightin' in a basement! Lt. Aldo Raine: Well, you don't got to be Stonewall Jackson to know you don't want to fight in a basement.

Long stroy short until I came here and started seeing some of the photos here I thought my point and shoot kodak circa 2004 was good enough, which for family photos it was. Then I tried to use it to photo some of my watches and met with disasterous results so I decided it was time for a new camera. Since shooting watches would only be about 1% of the cameras use and my wife would be using it to photo my son and family type things I did not want to go to a SLR type setup, I had to stay point and shoot. I went to the camera store and started playing with all the cameras and recieved more than a few strange looks when the sales people saw me point the camera at my watch and snap a pic. So I was down to two cameras, the G11 and a Sony DSC-H20. For the difference in price ~$200, I could not see the advantage of getting the G11 so for Christmas I got the Sony. Here is a quick point and shoot shot. The camera was on auto settings, flash off and me holding the camera for the shot. You can see two distinct light reflections in the crystal. I took the shot in my kitchen and I have some of thoes 2" round 75w halogen lights mounted in the ceiling which were shinning down directly on the watch. Gotta love the gen Omega crystal. It has a manual mode which I can set the ISO from 80 to 800, whit balance, flash intensity, ect. I think based on the below that with a little trial and error and some work on my part that it will be a fine camera to shoot watches with. So what do you guys think?

You gonna address the lack of sights lol? I am in the process of building one right now. Are you doing the serrations yourself??

I was just wondering because a friend of mine is an area GM at Home Depot. He has a gen Super Avenger with Diamond bezel, and a gen GMT II yellow gold and stainless. He is often roaming the floors at HD wearing an apron and helping customers when he has the time. While he has never disclosed his salary to me I would venture to say he is bringing in over $200K a year with bonuses included. Also my uncle has 5 gen Rolex's, he loves watches but not to the level we do. He always notices watches and is always on the lookout for a new one but he would be hardpressed to tell you the specific name of any of his Rolex's. If it is a divers Rolex(Yachtmaster, Submariner, & Pepsi GMT) its a Sub to him, if its a non diver(Datejust & Day Date) to him its a Presidential. Not doubting your assesment of the guy's watch just some food for thought.

Just curious but was the only thing that lead you to believe the watch was fake is that he said it was an Explorer when it was an Air King, and the back story of his grandmother gifting it to him??
